They all fall from the sky

{Sub-tittled: Why do they always fall from the sky?}

I double checked that Izuku had everything in his bag, as we walked out to where the buses were waiting to take the test takers to their respective fake cities.

"Alright. You're ready to go." I said, handing him the backpack.

"Take care of yourself, yeah? No getting killed saving people. If anyone needs saving, they had better be the only one who got hurt, alright? Unless you beat the shit out of the villains."

He let out the smallest chuckle, before he pouted, immediately catching sight of my smirk.

"Noooo! That's not funny, Kacchan."

My smirk widened into more of a grin, as he faught back a smile.

"Its not!" He insisted, "it's just a test."

I tucked a curl behind his ear, my expression softening as his face glowed with embarrassment. Gently cupping his face with my hand, I pressed a kiss onto his forehead, ignoring the way his wild curls tickled my face.

Pulling away, I met his immortal-green eyes. He was important to me, and he needed to know that.

"Just be careful. You've got this."

He smiled at me, wrapping his empty hand around mine, as he nuzzled his cheek into my palm.

"I've got this." He agreed, his voice soft.

Izuku leaned forward as if to kiss me, but at the last second tucked his head into my shoulder, giving me a one armed hug since he was still holding the backpack.

I returned the hug, but we both let go pretty quickly, not wanting to miss our buses.

"Give 'em hell, Izuku!" I told him, as we seperated to head towards our respective rides,

"You too, Kacchan!"

His enthusiasm made me smile, as I climbed on the bus to fake city D.

As soon as the doors to the city opened, I charged through them, taking the lead on the useless dumbasses I was paired against.

It was exhilarating, to properly let loose with my quirk, decimating robot after robot with an explosion, ignoring the other people.

I had just dispatched two of the large one pointers, when a flash of movement caught my eye. Turning to see it properly, my heart almost stopped, as I realized it was a dark haired kid falling off of one of the buildings.

I sprinted towards them, sparks popping across my palms inspite of the ache that came from over using my quirk. As I got closer, I launched myself into the air, my heart in my throat as I remembered the last time I (hadn't) caught someone falling.

I collided with the person, the force sending us spiraling into one of the buildings windows. I instinctively wrapped myself around them, as my back crashed through the glass, shattering it, and sending the pieces cascading everywhere.

We rolled across the floor, and I gasped as something stabbed between my ribs. The person tumbled out of my embrace, and came to a stop a few feet away from me.

I rolled onto my uninjured side, gritting my teeth, as I pushed myself off of the floor.

"Hey man, are you alright?"

The guy I saved had recovered faster then I expected, and was crouching next to me. He gently placed his hand on my back, and accidentally jostled whatever was stuck in my side, making me let out a strangled grunt of pain.

"Whoa! What-? Damn!"

Apparently he had noticed the slowly growing stain of red on my tank top, as he swore under his breath.

"Fuck off. I'm fine." I growled, sitting up, as I eyed the large shard of glass protruding from my side.

If I left it in, it could get pushed in further,  and we still had several minutes left to the exam.

If I pulled it out, there would be nothing obstructing the blood flow, unless I bandaged it, and I would probably bleed out.

"We should probably go get that looked at." The guy said, for a split second, I had honestly forgotten that he was here.

"Can you make it to the entrance, if I help?-"

"I don't need your help!" I spat, tearing the hem of my shirt into strips.

I was starting to feel dizzy, and my hands were shaking as I gripped the bloodied glass.

"Whoa, dude, are you gonna pull that out?

"Fuck off." I ground out, trying to mentally shake off the image of Izuku falling through the air, because I had told him to jump, anditwasallmyfaultwhatiswrongwithmehedidntdeserveithediedanditsallmyfaultI-

I sharply pulled, letting out a gasp, as the blood stained glass cut into my hand, and widened the injury it had already made.

I had to keep my head in the game, even if I should lose it. Maybe that would be better. Izuku wouldn't have to worry anymore. And I would never hurt him again.

I yanked the knot tight, as I tied the strip I had made out of my shirt around my chest, covering the wound. The searing pain helped drive away my thoughts, before they could get much worse.

I tried to push myself to my feet, but my head was spinning, and my legs refused to hold me up. My hand shot out, grabbing onto the first thing I could reach, which was the boy I had stopped from crashing into the ground. He grabbed my arm as well, and held me upright, as I waited for the world to hold still.

I had just managed to stand up straight, almost entirely on my own, when suddenly the building started to shake underneath me, and i knew it wasn't just my sense of balance, because the idiot next to me started staggering as well.

"Whoa! What is that?"

Using him like a counter weight, I dragged us both to the window to see what was going on.

Out in the main street, was a giant monstrosity, that was towering over the rest of the city. The red orbs on its head stared down, and I swore as I realised what it was.

"Fucking gimmick, my ass."
