Heaving a breath, Chaeya's hand stuck the house key into the door, turned, and pushed the handle open. Stepping inside, his fluffy white Pomeranian had immediately rushed down the staircase, and to his legs. The little one seemed a little more excited than usual, pawing away at Chaeya's pants. The green haired male just barely smiled to one side, slipping his shoes off and then kneeling down to give Cho some attention
"Hey, bud." The teen exhaled, patting Cho's head, and scratching behind his ear as well. "Na jibya, eomma!" As usual, he'd always announce his return, and if she was home, she'd immediately rush over to him and take his bag. This time, there was no answer, even though this morning she'd said she was coming home early. He guessed something came up at the cafe, or maybe she went grocery shopping. Seeing as no one else was home, this was probably why Cho was finally excited to get some company. Though, why was he upstairs? Normally he'd be hanging out in the living room, with one of his toys.
Chaeya already started to head up to his room, Cho following quickly behind. Though, once he stepped inside the room, Cho didn't follow him in. The fluffy pup just sat outside the room, on the white carpeted floor.
"Come in." Even after saying so, Cho didn't budge. Maybe he had to go outside. Chaeya quickly placed his bag down, and went after the dog. . . Who continued into the master bedroom, so Chaeya stepped inside. His brown eyes blinked, Park was fast asleep in the bed. So she was home, after all.
Cho had hopped right up onto the bed, and started pawing at her shoulder, but she didn't move. This was a little unusual.
"Eomma." Chaeya pushed the door a little more closed behind him, and padded over to the bedside. Cho was still scratching at her shoulder over the covers, but she still wasn't making a move. "Eomma, what's wrong?" The teenager decided to try this time, shaking her a little more. Again, no response. This was when he started to get worried.
"Eomma, wake up. Wake up." He kept shaking her shoulder, repeating over and over, louder each time. "Eomma! Eomma. . . !"
She barely made a sound, some kind of, pained whimper.
Even though he was panicking, Chaeya checked to see if she was breathing, and she was. Heavily, so. She was clearly alive, but she wouldn't wake up for some reason. Even though he didn't want to, the first thing he did, was grab his cell phone and call his father.
Kazemaru being as responsible as always, he picked up the phone, it was from his son after all.
"Chaeya?" Well, while it was his son, his son also never called him. He also hardly picked up when Kazemaru tried to be the one to call.
"Appa, Eomma isn't waking up!"
"What?"
"She's not waking up!" It took two seconds for Chaeya to get frustrated and impatient. "She's in bed, I don't know what happened but she's not even moving when I try to push her."
Kazemaru paused for a second. "Chaeya, go downstairs and look in the kitchen cabinet. Look for a pill bottle with her name on it, tell me how much is inside."
Because he knew what she was capable of. For the entirety of Inazuma Japan, he looked after her medication, for his own comfort.
Chaeya had actually listened, and made his way to the kitchen. Opening the far left cabinet, he pulled down a box kept for medicine. Scrambling through, he couldn't even find her bottle. So, he decided to check the trash bin, and there it was, sitting on top of a plastic wrapper.
"She threw it out, it's empty." Chaeya finally spoke up again, his voice much quieter than before.
"Chaeya, listen to me. I'm calling the ambulance so-"
"What!? What the hell is wrong with you!? You think she overdosed!?"
"Chaeya for once, can't you just listen to me!? This is serious, all I'm asking is for you to look over her." Kazemaru never liked yelling at the kid, but he had to this time. "Your mother- she's always been like this. We can't talk right now, I'll call you back later. Arraseo?"
". . . Arraseo."
The ambulance had come by about ten minutes later, and Chaeya made a scene for waning to go with them. In the vehicle, he stayed on the phone with Hayate. Kazemaru would have preferred that Chaeya didn't tell anyone yet, but he did so anyway. Besides, Hayate wasn't an illogical person. The white haired man wanted to go to the hospital immediately as well, but Chaeya asked him not to. Not until Kazemaru said it was okay.
Two hours later, Park was placed in a room, and given an IV. Kazemaru and Chaeya waited outside for quite a while, the kid was exhausted, he almost fell asleep a few times. Kazemaru was as unsettled as ever, because god forbid his worst nightmare ever came true.
"Kazemaru-san?" The nurse finally came over. "She's in the forth room, you can go see her."
Chaeya was already down the hall afterwards. Of course he wanted to see her awake, but his mother's eyes were still screwed shut. In the meantime, the nurse informed Kazemaru with what they'd found out so far. Just like he thought, and for whatever reason, she'd downed her entire bottle of sleeping pills. Currently, she was paralyzed, almost as if she was in a coma. . . Again.
"You said 'she'd always been like this', so what the hell was that supposed to mean?" Chaeya gripped the white handle at the side of the hospital bed, staring down at his mother's lap.
"Depressed. You know she was on medication." Kazemaru responded a little too easily, sitting on the opposite side.
"She wouldn't try to kill herself!" The teen burst out. "Eomma wouldn't just leave us like that!" Chaeya lifted his head, but his glare immediately faded. Kazemaru wasn't angry in the slightest, his head simply hung low. Why did this have to happen all over again? Park never even really liked being in hospitals, why would she do something to reckless?
This must have been how Hayate and Jin felt.
The utter hopelessness, of sitting on the sidelines, with no ability to do anything at all. The sheer guilt sitting in your stomach, for allowing this to happen in the first place. Just waiting, and hoping, for everything to be okay. But Kazemaru was a good husband, wasn't he? Sure he wasn't perfect, and he had his own inner conflicts as well, but he did everything in the world he could for her. Anything she asked, he would do. Anything she looked at in the store, he would buy for her, even if she refused. When she was tired, he'd make her breakfast, or even carry her up to bed.
And yet, he loved every second of it.
Because every time he looked at her, he saw his first crush, first love, first girlfriend, first kiss. His beautiful bride, and perfect wife. Despite the way she treated him like a stranger at point, despite her drinking.
"Chaeya. She's your mother, so of course you feel that way. . . But, she's also my wife. I want to believe that she wouldn't leave us, too." The tealette gripped the fabric of his jeans, clenching his teeth. "I want her to wake up, just as much as you do."
