8. Can't think straight

A/N: please read the picture at top! Important. Don't know if it's true or not but just in case.

Roman glanced around the hall, looking for his crush. Lunch just finished and it's time for the play rehearsals, and so far, Roman couldn't find the little emo anywhere. Bitting his lip, he turned to start walking to the room where the actors were ment to line up to audition when he noticed Virgil walking down the corridoors, his hands shoved in this pockets.

"Virge!"

At the mention of his name, the emo looked up with a smirk before blushing aswell.

"Hey Princey..."

"You okay Emo Nightmare?"

"Well I'm ready for you to smash through the audience and land lead roll."

Roman blushed aswell and moved closer to the emo who was standing infront of him. "Was that my good luck?"

"No." Virgil stood on his tip toes and placed a small kiss on the side of Roman's cheek before retracting into his hoodie like looking at Roman would mean he was looking at his biggest fear. "That... was..."

The silence was short, but seemed to last forever. It was broken by the actor that felt his cheeks growing in temperature.
"Wow... that's the least I expected... but I must say..." Virgil glanced up and noticed the shocked look on Roman's face, noticing how his lip started to twitch up into a smile as the actors cheeks grew more pink just staring down at the emo. "Best 'good luck' I ever got."

Virgil smiled and curled up to his hoodie more in embarrassment. A chuckled escaped through his lips as he continued to watch Roman's shocked state, never letting his eyes move from Roman's luscious, forest green eyes.

"Huh... well... you better get to the-uh... auditioning room..."

"Y-Yeah! Okay..." Snapping out of the state Roman was in, he smiled and shoved his hands into his pockets. "So I'll see you after the audition?"

"Sure Princey."

"Oh! Also, Logan and Patton saved you a seat in the front row at the end."

"Thanks..."

Chuckling, Roman hesitated leaving. He lent forwards and placed a soft kiss on the emo's hair before he even started walking. "Bye."

"B-bye..."

Shock. That was all that could have discribed the look plastered on Virgil's face. Heat rising to his cheeks and he could only mouth his emotions into 2 words.

"Oh God..."

It's not like Roman hasn't done it before, he did it yesterday.

Shaking his head, he walked to the restless hall and as promised, to the front, spare seat next to Logan. Patton on the otherside. Virgil sunk into the seat as Logan turned towards him.

"Salutations."

Patton looked over Logan and smiled at his 'edgy friend?'.

"Hey kiddo!"

"Uh... hey guys...."

Patton looked back to the stage as he tapped his thigh in anticipation of watching the actors. Logan had kept his eyes on the anxious looking male who seem to decide if he was going to speak or not.

"Logan?"

"Yes?"

"About... what you had said this morning... I'm having mixed emotions about it all. One moment I'm telling him I'm not ready to date anyone, next I'm wanting to be with him. But I don't want to lead him on."

"Maybe, just maybe... you're leading yourself on?"

"1, how? 2, I kissed his cheek after saying I didn't want a boyfriend. Wouldn't you find that as mix message?"

Patton zoned into the convosation at the mentions of a kiss. He lent his chin on Logan's shoulder and slid his hand into Logan's. While rubbing soothing patterns on Patton's knuckles, Logan had lent forwards slightly so less people could intrude the convosation.

"While that does display mixed emotions, you told him you were not ready. Roman's not going to get his hopes over a simple kiss on the cheek."

"What's this about Ro?"

"Virgil can't decide if he feels romantically attracted to Roman or not?"

Virgil cringed at the statement. He knew partly of how he felt, but he was afraid that it would be true.

"I... wouldn't say romantically... exactly. W-What's the whole 'leading myself on' thing you said?"

"Well, put it like this. Why do you not want to be in a realtionship?"

"You know why."

"Saying it out loud tends to help think things through."

"... I don't want to be hurt again... or to feel broken... the whole commitment is too much as the whole thing yesterday with my mothers dea- issue!... issue."

Patton's head shot up and lent closer to Virgil, hushing his voice aswell. "Were you about to say death?!"

"No."

"This happened yesterday?!"

"N-No... no it did not."

"You poor baby~"

"Don't call me that. B-back to the other thing!... I don't see you're point."

Logan manged to settle Patton back down before turning back to the boy in black.
"Now tell me, why did you kiss Roman?"

Virgil's mouth opened to speak but nothing came out, stuttering, he finally pushed out some words.

"He did the same yesterday to me when he dropped me home... it was a pay back and good luck."

"It was a kiss Virgil. You being you wouldn't go out of your comfort zone to  'get pay back and a good luck'."

"It wasn't out of my comfort zone."

"Why's that if you hate being touch, unless it's Roman of course."

Virgil went to speak once again before falling back into his seat with his lips slightly parted in disbelief and shock, muttering a simple 'Oh my chemical romance....' under his breath.

The teacher was standing on stage, making a speech of instructions and rules before the auditions started up. Things like: 'Be quiet when people are on stage', 'Clap at the end of every audition' and something along the lines of what most drama teachers say before auditions. Turning back to his 'friends?', Virgil lent closer.

"When's Roman on stage?"

Patton smiled as he continued to watch the stage. "Pretty sure he should be 7th."

"Kay."

Virgil sunk back into his seat as he pulled his phone out and started scrolling through his phone, for anyrhing to distract him from the present. He was only really here foe Roman, he knew that, but his emotions were still conflicted. He was barely even listenening to what was going on infront of him until he heard the familiar name of his Prince. Glancing up, he watched intensely as Roman stated the song he was going to sing.

Roman glanced at the audience as adrenaline was coursing through his body. Finally, his eyes landed on the pale boy he so desperately wanted to be close too. Virgil was looking directly back at him and a visible, one-sided, toothy grin as he watched Roman take a deep breath before a tune started through the speakers and Roman's lips started to form the lyrics.

Virgil didn't recognise the song, but the way Roman sung with passion, it might have just became his new favourite.

Hitting every note perfectly on key, Roman soon fell into the song and got lost in the rhythm. Virgil's lips fell open in shock but the smile still grew. A mix of different shades of pinks and reds dusting his pale cheeks. His smile never left his face as he got drawn into Roman's voice.

"I never knew he could sing so well..."

Patton smiled as he watched his friend before flickering his eyes to the emo. "If that surprises you, you should wait what else he has in store."

"What do you mean?"

"He can sing, act, dance, draw, write. Anything creative really."

Logan sighed as he kept his eyes on the Prince. "Not very street-smarts though."

"Oh don't be like that, he is. He just doesn't like the fact you always correct him with your fancy words."

Logan smiled slightly as he glanced at Patton who lent over and placed a kiss on his boyfriend's cheek. Virgil chuckled at the convosation beside him, but his eyes were locked on Roman.

They way Roman sung. The way the lyrics formed on his lips. The way Roman would move to the rhythm. The way Roman looked so at peace. The way Roman belonged on the stage. The way Roman was... Roman.

"Damn... Logan, I must say. You're right."

"Well yes, but which part exactly to you at the moment?"

"The fact I like Roman... I c-can't... tell myself otherwise. He looks so perfect up there..."
Virgil smiled wider before quickly turned it back to his usual smirk, his eyes never leaving the boy on stage.
"Two days... the quickest I've fallen for someone..."

"And how do you feel with this new piece of information?"

"I don't know."

Roman slowly brought the song to an end as he looked down, catching his breath due to so much energy put into the song. He slowly looked up as people started clapping. People even stood up to clap. Roman looked at Virgil with a bright smile as he saw the emo's rare toothy grin.

He left the stage with his heart pounding and his lungs a-flame, but that didn't stop his emotions flaring from the way Virgil had watched him so intently. He pressed his lips in a thin line to surpress his smile as soon as he entered the empty hallways. He turned to head back to the classroom or the other performers before he felt warm arms wrap around his waist. Looking over his shoulder, Roman twisted his body so he could hug them back as he took in the embrace.

"What are you doing back here?"

"I came to see you. I don't need to be in that room of sociable teenagers. And presides... I said I don't care about this part of theatre, I was only in there for you."

"Aww you love me."

Virgil lifted his head from Roman's chest and gave a slanted look, a small blush rising to his cheeks.
"Roman..."

"Don't worry. I know. I was only messing with you."

Virgil sighed before a giggle escaped his lips; he removed his arms from Roman's torso as he stepped back.
"Um... You were great up there..."

Roman smirked cockily as he lent forwards. "You really think so?"

"Don't be like that. You know full well you did good."

"Oh, so it's 'good' now? Not 'great'?"

The both chuckled as Virgil playfully hit Roman's shoulder, smiling fondly at one-another.

"I hate you~"

"Do you though~?"

"...no."

Roman blushed and shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "Good. I don't hate you too."

"Obviously. I can't seem to get rid of you."

"Oh hush~!"

"Roman. I'm not even supposed to talk to you."

"Your dad hasn't even met me. You're being a rebel. Rebel like the teens we are."

Virgil rolled his eyes before chuckling. "Okay well... I'm going to go to the libary to Mrs. Ariti so I'm gonna go..."

"Do I get a kiss?"

Virgil tensed up, his shoulders going stiff. His words silent and Roman took this into account.

"Look, Virgil. I know you know I like you seeing as my mum basically outed me.. and myself... but I mean that strickly platonically."

"I- I know...I just... I've been... thinking?"

"Thinking?"

"Nothing. I have to go."

Virgil's voice was rushed as he tried to escape. Anxiety was flowing through his veins and he knew one thing to help. The small closest at the back of the libary.

"Okay. You don't have to tell me, just curiosity killing the cat."

"Oh so dramatic."

"Well that's me." The two boys chuckled, both diverting their gazes around the empty hallway. Roman took another glance Virgil before sighing, this catching Virgil's attention. "At least a hug?"

"You're so affectionate."

"I thought you like that~"

Chuckling, Virgil stepped forwards and wrapped his arms around Roman's neck, Roman copying the movements around Virgil's waist. Leaning closer, Roman whispered in Virgil's ear.

"You free after school?"

"Pretty much always now..."

"I wanna take you somewhere."
