You know what I don't understand?

Why is it that when someone writes a trip to gotham fic, there is only one chaperon? There is usually two or more to watch a medium or so group of kids. I know the school is suppose to be really bad, but when I had fieldtrips, there would a list of whose going including the chaperons. No one else addresses it like at all.

Now, not all of them only have Mrs. Bustier as the acting guardian, I'll admit that. However, most of them, she is the only watching over irresponsible, impulsive preteens and/or teens.

When it comes to the class staying the same over a few years... is what she teaches different for every grade or does the school make her be the only one that teaches them? You know, make her an expendable teacher that is the only one to teach them and everyone else changes classes normally? Are they going to make her their college teacher too? They stay in one room and don't talk to any other student outside that one classroom. Forget going to different colleges, they would have to stay in that classroom together until they no longer go to school at all!

That is all of my confusion for now.

Forgot about the fact Marinette is not an open person and suddenly she tells people everything! Would she be vague or downplay it?

you're right. when the fine arts department of my high school took a trip to new york we had one chaperone for every ten students. so there were roughly twenty of us and two teachers. also there were four students in one hotel room. two to a bed. it was still pretty fun regardless. there were only like three or four boys so i think that one of them slept on the floor of their room.

Ok but there also had to be a male chaperone in here cause when I took trips and it came to sleep we had to have a male and female chaperone with no opposite sex seating like only girls with girls sort of thing

Oh thank goodness someone pointed this out. I love MariBat fics but the Gotham trips are always super unrealistic to me. Firstly, there aren't enough chaperones. I'm a teacher and usually when we go on trips, it's one chaperone per 10 students for domestic trips. For international trips, it's usually one chaperone per 5-6 students. Also, there would have to be at least one male and one female chaperone, at least that's how my school does it.

Also: HEADCOUNTS. I know it's used as a plot point to have Mari left behind so she can meet the Batfam but NO self-respecting teacher that wants to keep their license would ever leave behind a student. You triple check your count. Once when you all first meet up. Second when your loading the kids on the bus. Third once their in their seats. I know Bustier is supposed to be a bad teacher BUT COME ON. Even the worst teachers I know wouldn't forget to do the headcount.

Finally, letting Mari stay with the Bats after some unfortunate situation. NO. NO. NO!!!! That would never, in the history of trips, ever happen. I don't care if you're the student's grandparent; YOU'RE NOT TAKING MY STUDENT!!! There's a lot of planning and accountability that comes with field trips of any kind. Once the field trip starts, all of the students are the teacher's responsibility. Many of the times, there are legal documents stating that fact (aka those permission slips parents sign)

If anything were to warrant a student needing to leave the trip for any reason, then they would be sent straight home. Not to some rich businessman's manor where she is left unsupervised. All in all, I love MariBat fics but I can't stand those Gotham field trips. They're just super unrealistic and I want to bang my head against my desk most of the time.
