A promise [Introduction]

"Y/n~" Your middle school best friend calls your name as you finish getting your lunch tray. You look over to your friend with a smile. "I'm coming!" You say making your iconic irritated face at them. They laugh and sit down at an empty table, you follow behind them staring at your food, knowing it both looks and tastes like absolute trash, what do you expect. You two sit at the table and stare at your trays, like the food's just gonna grow legs and walk away.

You sit next to your friend and start going into a random topic, just to take your mind off of the nasty-ness in front of you. You turn to your friend and they look at you, knowing you want to say something. "Okay..." You starts. "So..... you know how I'm into anime and all that stuff?.." You ask sort of hesitant. F/n roll their eyes and sighs, "Ugh, yes. You've told me this a million times." "Well, there's this supper cool-" They out their finger up to stop you from talking. "Yeah no... you talk about this all the time. I know how much you love anime, but you've got to let it go. I'm into something else right now and don't always want to hear about your anime fangirling things." "Weeb moments-" "Yeah that. I just think you should focus on getting a boyfriend-" They don't know that you already have one so you roll your eyes with a side grin. "-I mean, today is our last day of middle school, and most people will be confessing today, including me, and the last thing I need you to do, is fill my head with strange ideas and scenarios." You lift a brow at their words. "You, confessing?" You slam your hand on the table and laugh historically. "HAHAHAH that's hilarious F/n! That's probably the best joke you've told me, like, ever." You wipe away a tear from your eyes than look back at them, they give you a serious expression. "I'm not joking Y/n. I actually have a crush." They say looking you in you eyes. "W-wait... for real? You? Of all people in this school—" They give you the stink eye and you clear your throat, "anyway, who is it?" You ask scooting closer to them with a curious expression on your face. "What makes you think I'm telling you?" They ask laughing awkwardly. "Uhm- hello! I'm you're best friend!" You state flicking their forehead. "Fine.." they rub the spot that was disturbed. You grow a grin and get closer as they whisper in your ear.

That grin slowly fades as you process the name they told you. "Wait... you like (Boyfriend's name)?.." You ask, a little bit of sadness in your voice, but not noticeable. "Mhm!" They nod their head, their cheeks a slight shade of pink. You look down, you had liked been with your boyfriend since 6th grade and haven't told anyone yet, and now you're just finding out that you're best friend likes him? This made you feel angry, sad, and scared at the same time. You didn't want to lose you're boyfriend, he was your dream boy. He was caring, a sweetheart, charming, protective, but most of all..........

A cheater and playboy.

At the end of the school day, you stare at your best friend, kissing your boyfriend. And he was kissing back. You didn't know what to do, you were paralyzed in fear, jealousy, and confusion. You stared at their interlocked lips than almost felt yourself barf, but you held back the gag. You stood behind a corner and held your hand it your chest. After their kiss, your now ex-boyfriend speaks.

"F/n... I love you... and I always have. I won't let anyone take that love away from me." You furrow your eyebrows as your eyes widen a little. 'That's the same thing he told me...' you though, your hand drops to your side. "I love you more than words can ever say, the way you smile, your amazing personality, and everything about you just makes me fall in love with you even more." You couldn't stand it. You had to get out of there, but you couldn't move, you were stuck in doubt and fear that couldn't be pushed away quick enough. Your best friend and ex-boyfriend turn the corner and see you, their fingers intertwined as they hold hands. You're eyes fill with tears. You didn't know what to do, anymore, you felt empt and it was painful. F/n looks at you with slight confusion. "What's wrong with you?" They ask tilting their head, you glare at them and open your mouth, but before you could answer, your ex speaks up. "Babe.. do you know this looser?" Your best friend gives a slightly shocked and disgusted look at the same time, "w-what? No! She's a fucking whore that deserves hell. I mean come on, she sleeps with people for money, why would I be friends with someone like that? She's a complete slut!" They laugh and continue walking down the hallway. Other students in the hall gasp in slight shock. You look around desperately, your eyes fill with tears. You see all the disgusted faces aimed at you. Quickly running to the bathroom, you end up bumping into a green haired male. "S-Sorry..." You blurt out and than burst into tears reaching the bathroom.

"They both fucking lied to me! I thought I could trust them... what did I ever do? We were so close and shared so many things.. we rarely got into fights, and if we did, we'd always make up and have fun afterwards just to prove that our relationship was worth something.... but they both just up and leave me like that... why...? How could they?!" You cry for what seems like hours before your tears finally let up. You sniffle and look into the mirror at your puffy red eyes. "I don't see what's wrong with me..." That was true, you didn't have anything wrong with you at all, actually, you were a fairly beautiful girl. Both inside and out. You loved making people happy and stuck by some people if they were lonely, and you gave them their space if they ever needed it. You had very few flaws and pretty, H/l, H/c, H/s hair, E/c eyes, and were pretty well figured. You're chest wasn't too big nor too small, same with your hips. You were a very pretty girl. But in this state, seeing yourself cry, your red puffy eyes and the tears stains down your cheek, you felt as though you were the ugliest person in the world, feeling ugly because you lost your, basically only friend and boyfriend, and then they insulted you after with rumors that would never come true, nor were they ever.

As you stare at yourself in the mirror, you start to smile at yourself. "I don't need them." You whisper looking yourself in the eyes. "They were just fakes. Once I enter my new high school... I'll find true friends that'll stick by me forever. I just know it." You smile at yourself and get up, feeling whole again, now that you made a goal for yourself, and unlike your past ones, you were going to keep this one as a promise to yourself. And that itself, is a promise.
