Talk To Me.
Taehyung leaned forward and whispered to Jungkook. "Can I talk to you alone?"
"Hyungs we'll be right back." Jungkook looked at everyone, and they all looked back at him.
"Oh is it cuddle time already?" Hobi joked as everyone let out a small laugh.
Namjoon eyed them as they left for the room Taehyung was staying in. The others carried on with random conversation and snacks as the two entered the room and closed the door behind them.
"Jungkook..." Taehyung started.
"Hm?"
"Are you okay?" Taehyung slowly took Jungkook's arm and turned it to reveal some of the scratches that had just been left.
Jungkook stared at them and without looking up he replied, "Yeah, those were an accident."
"You think so? He seemed mad about leaving early, it didn't look very accidental. He's been acting weird ever since we got here but it seems to only be targeted at you. He's been kind of mean to you but I haven't seen him be mean to anyone else now that I think about it."
Jungkook was silent, he knew Namjoon was acting weird but hadn't realized before that it was in fact only targeted at him. Did he do something wrong? Namjoon said he wasn't mad at him so why was he acting so strange?
"Maybe he's just been in a bad mood and took it out on me because I'm the youngest?"
"He's never taken any of his anger out on any of us, especially you. You're the last person I'd expect him to be mean to, he's always very protective of you."
"I don't know Taehyungie. We leave in two days, maybe he'll feel better after we get out of this dump."
"Do you think he's the one that hurt you in your sleep?"
"What? No. He was never downstairs , I already told you what happened." Jungkook was annoyed that it was still being brought up.
"Okay. Aside from the scratches, he hasn't done anything else to you has he? He hasn't been secretly hurting you or anything? You can tell me." Taehyung was becoming suspicious after seeing the way his hyung was acting lately.
"Taehyung ! That's ridiculous you know he wouldn't do stuff like that. I told you this was just an accident." Jungkook was trying to hide the fact that he actually wasn't entirely sure if it was an accident. If Namjoon was mad at him about something it would have been a subtle way to let out that frustration, he hoped he was just overthinking.
Someone knocked on the door and Taehyung watched Jungkook flinch.
Jimin poked his head in the door, "Are you guys almost done? We're going to play UNO in a few minutes so hurry up so I can beat you guys!" Jimin said excitedly as he walked back down the hall.
Taehyung was staring at Jungkook and there was a moment of silence before speaking up again, "You're becoming afraid of him. "
"Why would I be afraid of Jimin? He's short." Jungkook tried to ease the growing awkwardness with the joke.
"I meant Namjoon."
"I'm not becoming afraid of him, he hasn't done anything." Jungkook was too shy to admit that he had been feeling more nervous around his leader but he didn't want to make it a problem.
"If you say so, but you know you can come to any of us with anything bothering you. Don't hide things from us, we'll always protect you."
Jungkook felt really grateful to hear that, some of the tension he was holding in his heart let up knowing he had an entire team that cared about him. He stepped toward his hyung and hugged him, practically clinging to him, part of him didn't want to let go.
The two left the room and headed to the kitchen where everyone else was already gathered around the table and Hobi was dealing UNO cards. Taehyung took the seat between Jin and Hobi, while Jungkook sat between Yoongi and Namjoon. He reminded himself that he would be fine, there wasn't anything to be nervous about.
"How many cards do we all get again?" Hobi asked.
"I think only seven." Yoongi was counting his deck and he had the full seven. The rest of them received their cards and they began to play, they had the special BTS UNO cards edition.
This edition meant when you drew a certain card you had to get up and perform part of one of BTS' dance choreographies. They'd played the game a few times before, but Jungkook still had trouble understanding some of the directions, so the members quickly went over the directions of how to play so he'd understand it better.
While playing , every time it got to Jungkook he became unsure of which card to choose or if he was supposed to pick one up. His turn was before Namjoon's, so they tried to explain how putting the +2 cards down would mean Namjoon had to pick two cards up. He threw the +2 down, "Ahh-Ha Namjoonie you have to pick up two more now!" Jungkook teased as Namjoon looked at him with an extremely annoyed expression.
He picked the two cards up and the game continued, but Namjoon was getting impatient with Jungkook not figuring out how to play as it was making the game longer than he wanted it to be.
It was Jungkook's turn again when he was starting to ask another question, "Do I-" he was cut off by Namjoon ripping all the cards out of his hand and throwing them across the table.
Jungkook looked at him with shocked and hurt eyes.
"Why do we even let him play?" Namjoon asked the group.
Everyone was confused by the sudden outburst. Obviously they were going to let Jungkook play, they didn't mind teaching him how to. Namjoon was even the one who helped teach him last time!
Yoongi stood up and with anger in his voice started scolding Namjoon. "What the hell is wrong with you? Apologize to him right now!"
Namjoon turned to Jungkook and with the coldest voice said, "I'm sorry you're an idiot who doesn't know how to play a stupid game."
Jungkook had absolutely no response, he was too in shock. He tried to choke back tears as he didn't want his members to see him be emotional over it.
"I'm going upstairs. If everyone could just leave me alone, that'd be great." Namjoon got up from his chair and began to walk away when suddenly Taehyung shot up from his own chair and grabbed his arm.
"Hyung! Why are yo-" Taehyung couldn't finish what he was about to say before Namjoon pushed him away and immediately turned and left for his room. Taehyung angrily started to follow, but Yoongi put his arm out to block him. "Tae don't, just leave him."
Everyone turned their attention to Jungkook.
"I don't get it. I don't understand what I did.." Jungkook spoke softly. He felt like his heart was breaking, he wondered why Namjoon suddenly hated him so much.
"You didn't do anything Jungkookie, he's probably just in a bad mood because he was losing," Jin explained.
"Just like how he was in a bad mood when he put those scratches on his arms?" Taehyung said as he pointed to Jungkook. Jungkook gave him an angry look, he didn't want to draw attention to that situation either.
"Excuse me, what?" Yoongi took one of Jungkook's arms to inspect the scratches, they weren't terrible but they were definitely noticeable.
Jungkook pulled his arm away. "It's nothing. It was an accident."
Jimin became upset. "How did he 'accidentally' scratch your arms? "
"When he was hugging me earlier, he got mad when we said we're leaving early and he just accidentally scratched me. It's seriously nothing, can we please just drop it? I'm serious it was nothing. I don't think he even knows he did it."
Yoongi and Jin shot each other a concerned look. They couldn't let Namjoon get away with treating their maknae like shit for absolutely no reason, he didn't deserve that.
"We need to talk to him," Hobi said.
"Can we please just leave him alone for now? He clearly doesn't want to be bothered. There's no point." Jungkook was feeling annoyed. He liked that his hyungs were protective but he was becoming annoyed that they were trying to constantly fight his own battles.
"I'll talk to him myself later." He figured maybe having a heart to heart with his leader away from everyone would somehow help reconcile their relationship.
"Are you sure you want to do that?" Taehyung asked with concern.
"It'll be fine, I'll talk to him later when he calms down from whatever he's all mad about."
The members continued their game.
Namjoon stormed into his room and slammed his door behind him. He started pacing around the room and tears of frustration swam down his cheeks. He didn't understand why he was being so mean to his maknae, but he was certainly becoming more aware of it than he had been before.
He knew he loved and cared about Jungkook with all his heart, so he couldn't understand why he was having all these random outbursts of anger towards him that he couldn't control when they happened. He never got mad about anything Jungkook did, he always thought even the annoying things were adorable in their own way.
He didn't mean to be a jerk, he didn't want to hurt him. Yet at the same time, he knew there was a feeling inside of him that did make him want to hurt him. He felt like he was at war with himself , good vs. evil, like there were two souls inside him fighting to take over and he was trying to not let the bad one win.
As he continued to pace around the room, he turned and in the corner saw it again. The black figure he saw the night before, which must've been the same one Jungkook had seen. His mind flooded with the things he didn't remember before. He remembered the whispers of being told to kill Jungkook, he remembered...agreeing to it?! He realized this thing was the reason for his outbursts. It was controlling him, and it was trying to hurt Jungkook. He took a step back, fear rising in him.
"Stay away from me!" Namjoon cried. "This is your fault! I don't know what you want but leave me alone! Leave Jungkook alone! We haven't done anything to you! I'm done letting you use me to hurt him! I won't do it anymore! "
The black figure started slowly moving towards him and he backed up far enough to fall backwards onto his bed.
The feeling of hatred began to grow stronger inside of him the closer this shadow got. He was becoming increasingly frustrated as he felt the hatred grow.
"No! I'm not going to hurt him!" Namjoon screamed out loud.
He grabbed his blanket and pulled it over his head and turned his body to face the wall. "You can't make me hurt him..." Namjoon whispered to himself, tears streaming down his face.
He couldn't let this thing get too close again, he couldn't risk doing something to his maknae that he knew he'd regret.
A couple minutes had passed when he decided to finally peek outside of his blanket, the figure was gone. He let out a sigh of relief and laid on his back, staring at the ceiling for a few minutes.
Is it over? He didn't feel the anger and hate anymore, but instead became filled with complete remorse over the things he had done and said to his baby brother. He had no idea how to apologize, considering he apologized before for being mean and then was mean all over again. He wouldn't be surprised if Jungkook didn't want another apology, or anything to do with him at this point.
Not only that, but he knew his other members weren't happy with him either. He owed all of them an apology, but for now decided it would be best to give them all their space so he pulled out one of his favorite art books and began to read it and admire the pictures inside.
