THE FOLLOWING AFTERNOON
THE ROYAL GARDEN

Sylaq and the King went for a council meeting. I decided to take pictures of my Daisy flowers, they had grown beautifully.

"Hey, beautiful," Zac's voice echoed in the garden as he walked up to me.

"You really have to stop with this," I made a straight face.

"Can't I give you a compliment?" He asked.
"Not if there's a hidden agenda behind it then, of course, you can," I told him. I added, "please stop this."

"And why should I listen to you?" He stretched his broad arms forward.
"Zac, you and I both know that you're doing this to annoy Sylaq but it's high time that the two of you stop this. I mean both of you have done enough damage to each other already," I point out.

"He killed Alicia leaving my heart damaged. Sylaq Steel needs to experience the pain that I felt, that I'm still feeling. Every day, I wake up thinking about my Alicia, and how strong and hyperactive she was. Who gave Sylaq the right to snatch my joy away from me?" He said with sadness evident in his blue eyes.

"I'm so sorry about everything but why are you coming after me? I'm not his mate," I said crossing my arms.

"But he loves you. I can't believe that I'm saying this but Sylaq Steel actually loves you. He never looked at Jenny the way he looks at you," Zac shocked me with his words.

"So I'm your target in ruining him"," I said feeling disappointed.

"Exactly," he answered.

"And what exactly have I done to be a part of your revenge? Sylaq should have never killed your mate but he did and since then you've been trying to do everything to kill him. You even left your pack and family to come here. Zac, I don't know you that well but I know that you have a heart. Wherever Alicia is right now, I'm sure she'll want your happiness and we both know that revenge can never bring pure happiness.to one's life," I explained and twisted my fingers.

"Do you think that if you kill me and kill Sylaq that your heart will be at peace? You slept with Jenny but you weren't even satisfied. Think about it carefully. Is this revenge worth it? Would Alicia want this? I'm sure she wouldn't," I said sharply,  hoping that he sees reason.

"I never planned to kill you," he said while walking away.

"Zac, someone told me that the heart always knows so please follow your heart," I screamed and smiled before he exited the garden.

I really need to talk to Sylaq about leaving Zac alone. He should apologize to him but I doubt if he would actually do that.

"There you are!" Dorothy ran towards me.

"Hi," I smiled.

Dorothy is one of the people who made my life here easy. She's a vampire but she's not evil. Perhaps not all vampires are heartless.

"Get ready! We have a royal ball tonight," Dorothy said causing me to let out a laugh.

"Royal Ball? That's a joke plus Sylaq didn't mention it to me" I told her.

"Sylaq doesn't know about this stuff cause he never goes to any. We have a masquerade ball tonight and you being the Princess needs to look the loveliest," Dorothy squealed for joy.

I gasped at the realization that I have no dress for the event.

"You don't need to worry 'cause I know the perfect place for us to get our dresses," she said after observing my worried expression.

"Where?" I was curious.

"It's a surprise," she said as we walked out of the garden.

I'm not sure if I want to go to this ball but I should definitely go for the fun of it. I'm sure that Sylaq will come with me to the royal ball.

Sylaq's POV

Council meetings are always boring to me. They keep talking about the same old boring topics. I didn't even remember to tell Ariella about the masquerade ball taking place tonight. I hate this cause it's boring, I prefer fun and exciting parties but I'm definitely going for this one. Thinking about Ariella and me dancing has totally changed my perspective about the ball.

What's better than you dancing with the love of your life?

As I was about to enter my car, Jenny squealed in my direction.
"Sylaq, please wait," Jenny who was wearing blue jeans and a green top said.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, already feeling annoyed that she was standing in my front.

"I'm here to see you. I'm sorry for cheating on you with Zac but believe me when I say that I love you with my whole heart," she said.
"But I don't love you. Yes, you're my mate and we shared a bond and I'm supposed to love you but I never loved you. I really love Ariella. I forgive you for cheating on me 'cause it doesn't affect me, it never did," I stated.

Tears rolled down her cheeks, "but you never told me that you loved me."
"Because I didn't. I love Ariella. You need to stop coming after me 'cause there's no hope for us," I said to her.
"You're all that I have," she cried.
"No, I'm not. You have your younger brother and your parents," I reminded her.

"Just give me one more chance and I promise that I won't fail you," she said crossing her hands over her heart.

"Even if I give you all the chances in the world, it won't change the fact that my heart doesn't beat for you. Jenny, please move on cause I've moved on. Whether Ariella chooses to be with me or not, I will still love her so don't bother coming after me. My forgiveness is more than enough to make life easy for you," I was direct.

"No, I won't move on. Sylaq Steel, you're mine and you have no idea what I'm capable of doing to have you back!" She screamed as she walked away.

"It's better to accept reality than to live in a dream that will never come true," I voiced.

"We'll see about that!" she growled.
