41 | You're The Cure
ARIELLA'S POV
TYLER led me to the hospital where Sylaq was admitted. I didn't know that there was a royal hospital in the palace. It's at the far end of the place, it's a ten-story building painted in blue and white.
"We're here," Tyler said, opening the door.
I gasped at the sight of Sylaq who was lying on the bed. His brown hair was fading and his skin looked pale. Once my gaze fell on his injured foot, the tears that I'd been holding fell out uncontrollably. I rushed to him, placed my hand on his forehead, and muttered, "I know, you'll survive this."
"Ariela, I'm glad you're here," Nathan hugged me from the back.
I was way too worried about Sylaq that I didn't notice anyone. I glanced around and found Sylaq's parents, Dorothy and Nathan. To think that I just spoke to the King an hour ago, maybe that was why those guards were rushing to his room.
"I should have been here sooner but I didn't know...," I said to Nathan when he broke the hug. I kept on cursing Sylaq and he was here, fighting for his life.
Suddenly, Sylaq woke up which made me smile but the smile turned into agony when he brought out a knife from his pocket and stabbed himself.
What the fucking hell?
"Stop!" I screamed my lungs out, trying to grab the knife from his hand but I just couldn't reach it.
How did it even get into his pockets?
"Argh!"
No, please stop!
I turned to his family, particularly the king, and screeched, "Tell him to stop, Do something. I don't have the power to save him but you do. So why are you just staring? We're losing him!"
My throat ached from the shouting and I just couldn't stop panting. I just couldn't bear to see Sylaq like this. He would always save me and now that I was in danger, I was useless but his family wasn't so why weren't they doing something?
"It's normal. He's reacting to the bite," the king explained.
My eyes grew enormous when the knife disappeared and Sylaq passed out. At least, the stabbing had stopped.
"I don't know what I did to the gods for them to punish me like this," the Queen wept.
"The gods aren't punishing us. It's that Zac that is to be blamed for all of this," the King said. My eyes were on Sylaq so I couldn't see their expressions.
Dorothy clarified, "After a vampire has been bitten by a werewolf, they pass out for a while. When they become conscious, they start inflicting pain on their skin cause they can't handle the bite. If Sylaq wasn't royalty then he would have died instead of him passing out the second time."
Oh, this explained why that vampire that tried to kill me stabbed himself repeatedly until he was gone. Though Zac was the one who saved me then, I wouldn't forgive him for doing this to Sylaq.
"How do we save him? There must be a way to save him. What's the cure for him?" I asked.
"You!" A voice echoed in the room. I knew this voice but.....I wasn't sure.
"Me?" I confirmed if I heard them right.
The lights began to flicker, the room got colder and I'm sure everyone could feel the foreign energy. Once the lights stabilized, a figure appeared in the middle of the room. Her green eyes were very visible and her black hair confirmed that I indeed know her.
She looked at me and repeated her prior words. "You're the cure."
"Aunt Jade!" Nathan exclaimed.
Aunt? Does that mean she's Sylaq's aunt and not a friend? Of course, that must be why I saw her photo at Pappy Fred's castle. She's a Steel hence, she's not normal.
"Hello, Ariella, nice to see you again," she greeted, engulfing me in a hug. I didn't return it though. She lied to me and helped Sylaq to trick me into marrying a vampire. But that doesn't matter now. The only thing that's important right now is Sylaq's life.
"You guys have met before?" Dorothy asked.
Jade pulled out of the one-sided hug and responded. "Yep, I helped her with her wedding dress and I witnessed their wedding."
King Damian scuffed, "My son's dying and your needless chatting won't save him. I only asked Astrid to inform you so you can save him."
"I would have come regardless. And I'm only here cause of my nephew, not because you sent for me," Jade retorted.
My confusion has reached its peak but now isn't the time to ask questions.
Jade's gaze turned to me, she cleared her throat before speaking, "I need blood from a human that he has mated with."
"I'm willing to drop my blood," I said in haste. All that mattered to me was getting Sylaq cured even though he fooled me, I didn't want him gone. Plus, he had saved me too many times and this was my way of repaying him.
King Damian snorted, "Not like you have a choice."
Idiot, I have a choice but I acted like I didn't hear his remark.
Jade opened her purple bag and brought out an empty glass bowl and a kind of gun-shaped bottle that I presume to be a perfume cause one can see the lemony liquid content through its transparent glass. I really don't get how perfume would be of help here but what do I know? Jade is the...doctor?
And that was when it sank in, Jade was, of course, a witch. Ah, she definitely used her powers to teleport herself here.
"Mynjhyk tangy push hit Mynjhyk tangy push it!" She chanted, confirming my suspicion, and much as I'd like to not look at her, at what's she doing, I have to for Sylaq Steel.
"Mynjhyk tangy pushkht!"
I felt a dying in the pit of my stomach and it was terrible but bearable so I didn't voice out my pain.
Jade got louder, "Sunshyk take it mynjhyk!"
"Arg!!" I groaned. I couldn't bear it any longer. The stinging stopped only for it to be replaced by the squeezing of my body by an unknown powerful force. I wanted to move but I was glued to the ground like a mountain. Make it stop is what I wanted to say but I had to endure it for Sylaq to be alive. This is all for him.
"Sunsharyk para bloode," she sang and I could feel that dark energy drawing something out of my body.
The glass bowl in her hands began to fill up with a red liquid that could only be......my fucking blood!
Woah! I glanced down at my body for an opening but saw none. Holy Shit! That was magically....creative.
"Great, this will do," Jade said, gazing into the bowl that contains my blood. I heaved a sigh when my body was released from that blood-sucking force.
I almost stumbled but Queen Catherine helped me to stand still. I didn't even know she was at my back.
Jade went close to Sylaq and cut strands of his hair. No one seemed to be questioning Jade's witchy actions maybe it was because they trusted her. Why wouldn't they though? She's their family but why wasn't she staying with them?
The strands of hair were added to the blood, my blood. Then, Jade sprayed the lemony perfume inside, and of course, I started to choke cause it was a very conk smell.
"Ahem! Ahem!"
The rest of them just looked intently at Jade but they didn't react to the perfume.
Jade continued making the cure, she shook the bowl twice and started chanting again. "Alani tightik reverseth Sylaq!"
At least I could clearly hear Sylaq but the other words were vague. The liquid mixture turned greenish-brown powder.
Woah! This whole magic thing is fascinating in a way.
"And there we go, this will cure him. Ariella, you should apply the powder on his bitten foot," she stated, stretching the cure to me and I was fast to collect it. Promptly, I knelt before dying Sylaq and stared into his green eyes that weren't glowing anymore.
"Just hold on, you'll be fine, I promise," I mumbled but I was sure they all heard thanks to their super hearing. Jade instructed me to empty the glass in a steady motion. When the cure came in contact with my right hand, I felt burnt due the harsh reaction but swallowed the pain, I applied it to Sylaq's wounded foot in bits until the powder was exhausted. Jade told me not to rob the powder on his foot so I just obeyed her instructions.
After a minute of me applying the cure nothing happened, everyone, especially the King and I questioned Jade with our gazes but Jade just shrugged and sent us a look that read, be patient. A bowl of water appeared in her hands which she handed to me. She made me wash my hands so that the powder won't have side effects on my skin.
"Ahem!"
I felt alive when we heard a very loud cough from Sylaq. He just kept on coughing as though he wanted to throw up but was very difficult for him to get it out.
"Jade, What The hell is happening to him?" The King questioned with clenched fangs.
Jade sighed, "He's just reacting to the cure. He'll be fine."
"For your sake, he better be alright," The king growled.
However, Sylaq continued coughing until he vomited a grimacing black thick liquid. His eyes slowly opened.
"My Darling Sylaq, I can't lose him just like we lost Sylexia?" Queen Catherine wailed.
"He already vomited the werewolf's venom from his system so I guess my job is done here," Jade declared.
"We can't be sure so you'll stay here for three days just to be extra sure that Sylaq is perfectly fine," King Damian ordered.
"Brother, you know I'd never do anything to harm my family, especially Sylaq. You might have banished me from my home but I won't ever stop protecting my loved ones," Jade sounded firm.
What did she do for the king to banish her? Jade saved Sylaq, she didn't seem to be dangerous so why was she exiled from her kingdom?
Sylaq's lips finally parted and muttered three words that I wasn't expecting to hear. His voice was proof enough that he was cured but he lost consciousness after uttering those three words to me. Jade explained that it was normal and we all just sighed. However, I kept on replaying what Sylaq had said. Even in his condition, he still thought of me. He still wanted me to stay with him.
"Ariella, please stay."
