4 | No, Vampires Couldn't Be Real

CHAPTER FOUR

SYLAQ'S POV

WHAT was I thinking when I decided to be their History teacher? I knew the hazelnut-eyed human somewhat instigated me to do something this absurd.

"I'm Austin Daniels and I'm from here," the black-haired student stylishly said. "Rachel Sean," whine haired lady that was next to Austin introduced herself.

"And I'm Kate Daniels, Austin's cousin. I'm pleased to meet you," she blushed, flipping her black hair.

"It's Steve Willows," the blonde guy said, shrugging a shoulder. My fangs would love to create an unforgettable artwork on his face, I smiled at the thought.

"What's the most humiliating stuff that you've ever experienced," I asked him. I wouldn't waste my hypnosis abilities on this human.

"Hmm, when I was thirteen, I came out nude in front of my dad's business partners but it was a mistake," he looked pathetic. I wasn't even expecting him to answer the question.

The whole class burst into laughter. I noticed Hazelnut scowling at me. The poor thing hated the fact that I humiliated her boyfriend.

They continued introducing themselves to me even though I asked for their history. The purple-haired Julie couldn't speak because she was still under my compulsion. The bell rang and they all hurried out of the class. Hazelnut was about to leave before I finally asked, "I believe you haven't told me your name."

She answered with a blank gaze, "It's Ariella Reas."

"A very unique name for a unique lady," I admitted, casting a lingering glance at her.

Ariella glared at me and she just walked out. How dare she just do that? If only she knew who I was, she wouldn't have dared to do that. I could just show her what I was capable of doing but for some reason, I was holding back. I didn't know if it was her vanilla scent that kept me drawn to her or if it was her flawless beauty that made me crave her. Still, I was giving her too much importance. I was a vampire beast, definitely not a romantic fool. And even if I ended up loving someone, it sure wouldn't be a human. Those normal creatures already did enough harm to me and I'd made it my life's mission to ravish them all with my vampiric powers. They deserve it for taking away Lexie.

THE FOLLOWING AFTERNOON

"This house is really pretty. How did you buy it within a short time?" Jade asked, pacing around the huge living room. Indeed, it was very pretty with a very attractive chandelier in the middle of the room. The velvet chairs made it look classy. Of course, it's nothing compared to the palace I grew up in but at least, it was decent enough to be called a house.

"I didn't buy it," I smirked, remembering how I got the house.

"No, you didn't. Hope it's not what I'm thinking?" Her facial expression revealed that she knew exactly what I did but hoped it wasn't the case.

"I just compelled some oldies to lend me their house for a few months," I told her.

"So where would they stay?" She seemed concerned for strangers.

I shook my head, "I don't know, that's their problem," I sat down on the red velvet sofa.

"You can't keep compelling people to get your way," she sighed, leaning against the marine-colored wall.

"Why should I ask when I have the power to just get it?" I questioned.

"Ah, you've also got money and a lot of it too. My point is, you could have just bought a house but no, you'd rather do things your way," she heaved a sigh of exasperation.

I leaned my head on the sofa, "exactly, my way is just fun."

"Agh, you're just impossible," she said and stopped pacing.

She continued with a stern look, "Sylaq, I know you miss her but don't you think......." My look put her words to a halt.

"Jade, please don't start," I was serious.

"I know it hurts. The truth is we all can't forget her but if she was here, she wouldn't want to see you like this," she pointed out pathetically.

"But she's not here. She's been gone for a very long time but I'll never forget how she was killed," my whole body burned with anger and it took everything in me not to smash anything.

Jade remained silent for a while before she opened her mouth to say, "I loved her too. Hell, we all did. But the sad truth is that she's just dead."

Jade was saying the truth, Lexie was dead. If only she had turned, she wouldn't have been....

This was why I would train Nathan to be very defensive. I had a feeling that he wouldn't want to be initiated but he had to. If he didn't, he'd die just like Lex and I couldn't stand losing another loved sibling of mine again. Bella though, I just didn't care about her just like she didn't care about me. I was sure that she was planning my death right now. Well, vampire hunters were the only ones that could kill us but they had long been killed.

Jade finally turned to leave but I stopped when she climbed a few steps.

"About this morning, I might have said the right things in the wrong way," I made eye contact with her.

"Might?" She groaned.

"Alright, I did and I'm sorry." I didn't mind apologizing to Jade. She was more than my aunt, she was my confidant.

"It's cool. I forgive you," she smiled. I knew she would but it felt good to just clear that up.

"Great, if you don't mind, I need to prepare notes for my students," I sneered.

"You? A teacher?" She rubbed her chin, obviously doubting it.

"A History teacher to be precise," I said and it felt ridiculous for me to even say that.

"Oh gods, where is my nephew?" She cried dramatically and continued climbing the stairs

ARIELLA'S POV

THE NEXT MORNING
DOBANA HIGH

"I can't believe that you made me do that long Literature assignment for you," Rachel pouted as we entered the school. We were both in jumpsuits but in different colors. Hers was yellow and mine was black.

"You're the one who doesn't want Austin to see your cute picture," I increased my speed.

"Yeah, but you owe me brownies," she sighed.

"Let's go to Zainies Patisseries bake shop after school," I agreed.

She squealed for joy, "this is why I love Tuesday!"

"I don't, I prefer Friday." I honestly said. I know that Friday's still made up of twenty-four hours like the rest of the days but to me, it's way shorter and fun.

"Speaking of Friday, I can't wait," she squealed.

"Don't tell me you and Austin are going to do it again?"

"Yeah, it's going to be our third time this month," she smiled.

I didn't mind Rachel and Austin doing the dirty, I just wanted them to be more careful. "Just be careful," I gave her a stern look.

"Sure. What about you and Steve?"

"No, I'm not ready to lose my virginity to Steve Willows," I paused. "I'm not sure if he's the guy, I wanna open my legs for."

She rubbed her chin. "Ouch! Why not? Steve is nice and he loves you.

"Hmm," I was at a loss for words.

"Hi, Julie. What's up with you? You were all weird and mute yesterday," Rachel asked when we bumped into Julie in the school hallway.

"I don't know," she clasped her hands and rushed into the class.

"Weird much," I mumbled.

We entered the class and I was very stunned to see MR. Steele in our Literature class. And of course, his glowing eyes almost drowned me. Ugh, this light-skinned History teacher was very attractive.

"We don't have History," I voiced, secretly admiring his curly brown hair.

"Good morning to you too," he smirked.

"He's gonna be our substitute since MRS. Rose didn't come," Kate announced from behind, excitement obvious in her voice.

His brown leather jacket got me gazing at him but I went to take my seat.

Rachel sat next to Austin and I glanced around for Steve but he wasn't there. That's weird of him, he's not one to miss a class.

Mr. Steeel cleared his throat, "today, we will test your creativity. You will be turning the greatest romantic story into a dark story."

"Ooh, I like the sound of dark," Austin imitated an evil voice.

"What if Romeo was a vampire," MR. Steel winked as he walked with confidence.

"That'll be super hot," Julie also seemed to be excited.

"That'll be dumb. Vampires do not exist," I protested.

"Miss Reas, how can you be so sure? For all we know, a vampire may be here studying your every move," he said with a creepy but sexy voice.

I burst into laughter, he's being unbelievably ridiculous. Vampires didn't exist and even if they did, what would one be doing in Dobana? No, vampires couldn't be real. The rest of the class joined me in laughing.

"My assignment is that we change the whole sweet love story of Romeo and Juliet into a dark love story," he said simultaneously.

"But that's evil," crying Becky disagreed.

"Oh dear, evil is a new love," he smirked. I wondered what sort of teacher he was. I shook my head in disbelief.

"Submit this assignment in three weeks," he declared.

"Yay," half of the class screamed out of joy which was odd to me because they hated assignments. I hated it more though.

I just didn't get why Principal Rogers hired someone like him to be our teacher. He's obviously crazy and super handsome, I mean super annoying.
