18 | My Guardian Angel

ARIELLA'S POV

It felt like I'd been driving for six hours or less. I was really feeling tired, dizzy, and obviously sad. Never did I ever imagine that something like this could happen to me but I was ridiculously mistaken.

Dammit, my phone wasn't even with me so there was no way to reach my family. Come to think of it, maybe it was better that I didn't go back cause I think I actually killed Steve. Knowing my dad, he must probably be gathering the police to arrest me. How could I kill my fiancé?

Rachel and I had been best friends since our diaper days. She was a single mother with no support from her family to raise her five years old son Austin Junior. Rachel named her son after his late father, Austin Daniels. Austin and Rachel were dating in high school but he was mysteriously killed during our senior year homecoming at Dobana's High School. Weeks later after his death, she found out that she was pregnant and she was forced to raise Junior alone cause her parents kicked her out. I knew how much she'd always struggled to provide for herself and Junior but she remained single. I always advised her to try and find love again. Little did I know that she would go after Steve.

I kept on replaying the scene of me hitting that bottle on Steve in my head until I crashed into a very big tree which got my sister's car ruined and by ruin I mean the glasses got broken and it started to bring out smoke.

"Help!"

"Help!" I yelled while coughing heavily and choking.

"Ahem! Can someone hear me?!" I scream while almost losing consciousness.

Today's the worst day ever but for one reason or the other, I still wanted to live. I started coughing harder than before.

"Steve's ghost must be punishing me," I muttered to myself. If I die and I come across Steve, I'll honestly apologize to him that's if he's really dead.

Breathing became really difficult for me and at this point, I didn't think I'll be saved. It was midnight and I was in the middle of the woods, no one would be here so I was obviously a goner.

God, please send me an Angel to rescue me, I hoped while looking at my bleeding hands. The pieces of glass had pierced deeply into my skin.

As my vision began to fade into nothingness, I saw a tall figure opening the door of the car. But before I could say a thing, my tired body lost consciousness.

I woke up to see myself being laid down on the grass. My stressed eyes landed on the man who must have saved me. It was dark so I couldn't make out his face properly but it was evident that he had green eyes and his strong male scent was enticing. I was not even feeling any physical pain. How did this stranger save me?

"Good, you're up," he heaved a long sigh of relief. I glanced at him and held his strong arms, "thank you, you saved me."

He stood up, he easily carried me bridal style and then he took me into a cave that was within that area.

He dropped me on what I presume to be a bed, a very uncomfortable bed because of its hard texture. "Please stay here. I'll be back," he mouthed to me.

In just a day, I'd been stood up by my fiance because he had an affair with my best friend and then I might have probably killed him. Life could have easily let me die but they sent this mysterious green-eyed man to save me. Before now, I always knew what I wanted but for the first time, everything was just messed up and even worse, I was terrified of what tomorrow would hold for me. I held on to his strong arms firmly, I did want to. let go of them, I needed assurance that everything would be normal again, and right now, he seemed like the closure that I desperately needed.

"Please don't leave me all alone," I cooed desperately.

I didn't know why but I was really drawn to his scent, voice, physique, and everything about him. It felt like I had known him forever but I was just meeting him for the first time. I didn't care if he saw me as a clingy person, I just needed him to stay for the night. I feared that if I stayed alone, I would probably lose my sanity.

I noticed that my hands were treated like magic which made me shocked but for some reason, I kept quiet.

The mysterious man didn't seem bothered about my request. If anything, he was pleased by it, he bobbed his head and softly responded, "If you want me to stay, then I'll stay."

His husky voice sounded like heaven, he had somehow managed to reduce my worries and above all, saved me from dying. God had sent him to give me a new life and this could only mean that he was my Guardian Angel. Why else would I feel protected, untouchable, and comfy in his grasp? I was thrilled to know that in the middle of all this shit, I was blessed with my very own Guardian Angel.

Boom!

I felt as though I would lose my ears due to the explosion. Oh no, Ellie's car was totally ruined beyond repair. I observed that my Guardian Angel was I moved by the sound. Perhaps, he wasn't terrified of anything. There were so many questions that I wanted to ask him but I was starving and lacked the energy to do anything. If everything had gone as planned, I would have been full from eating my wedding cake and dishes but here I was, hungry in an unknown cave with a stranger that I presumed to be my Guardian Angel.

Whatever, I was sure that I would survive.
