Vol 1. 2: Going G.I.R.L!
The cover of Issue 2, titled "Going G.I.R.L!"
In the foreground, Nadia Van Dyne, the Unstoppable Wasp, is in full flight with her wings spread wide, her bioelectric stingers firing at unseen enemies. Her expression is one of fierce concentration, ready to face whatever comes her way.
The backdrop is the shadow of Big Chill
———
Patrick Mulligan sat at his cluttered desk, stacks of papers and case files spread out before him. The dim light of the desk lamp illuminated the weary lines on his face as he scribbled notes in the margins of a report. The recent devastation had left him buried in paperwork, and the stress of managing the city's response was taking its toll.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. "Come in," Patrick called without looking up.
The door creaked open, and a young officer stepped in, looking slightly nervous. "Chief Mulligan, sir, you've been assigned a new partner."
Patrick finally looked up, eyebrows raised in surprise. "A new partner? Now? Who is it?"
The officer stepped aside, and in walked a tall, athletic young man with a confident stride and a friendly smile. He looked barely out of his teens, with tousled brown hair and a green jacket over his uniform. He extended his hand to Patrick.
"Ben Tennyson, sir. It's an honor to meet you."
Patrick shook Ben's hand, sizing him up. "You're the new rookie they assigned to me, huh?"
"Yes, sir. Just graduated from the academy," Ben said, his voice filled with enthusiasm.
Patrick leaned back in his chair, regarding Ben thoughtfully. "Well, Ben, things are a bit... intense around here right now. You sure you're up for it?"
Ben's expression grew serious. "I'm ready for whatever comes our way, sir."
Patrick nodded slowly. "Alright, Tennyson. Let's get to work. We've got a lot to handle, and I hope you're ready to hit the ground running."
Ben nodded eagerly. "You can count on me, sir."
Patrick handed Ben a stack of files. "Start with these. Get familiar with the case details. We're going to need all hands on deck to deal with the hell that's been unleashed."

Y/N stood in the midst of Times Square, the cacophony of lights, sounds, and people swirling around him. The Carnitrix was hidden under his clothes, the bandages concealing its presence from prying eyes. He scanned the sea of faces, looking for any sign of G.I.R.L. - Genius In action Research Labs, the organization he had learned about while researching potential allies and enemies. He needed answers, and he hoped they could provide them.
The giant screens blared advertisements and news bulletins, none of which seemed to offer any clue about G.I.R.L. Y/N felt a mix of frustration and desperation. He had seen firsthand the horrors the device could unleash, and he knew he had to find a way to control it or, ideally, remove it entirely.
He continued to weave through the crowd, eyes darting from one potential lead to another. As he passed by a newsstand, he grabbed a local paper, skimming through it for any mention of G.I.R.L. or its members. Nothing stood out.
Feeling the weight of the Carnitrix on his wrist, Y/N ducked into a small alleyway to gather his thoughts. He leaned against the cold brick wall, trying to remember the last bit of information he had found about the organization. Nadia van Dyne, the new Wasp, was a key member of G.I.R.L., and he figured she might be his best chance at finding them.
Y/N navigated through the crowds, the towering buildings of Times Square casting long shadows as the sun began to set. Frustration gnawed at him, but he pushed it down, determined to find G.I.R.L. and get the answers he needed.
As he walked, he spotted an older man sitting on a bench near a hot dog stand, reading a newspaper. The man had a kind, familiar face framed by gray hair and thick glasses.
"Excuse me, sir," Y/N approached, hoping for a bit of luck. "Can you help me with directions?"
The old man looked up, his eyes twinkling with a hint of amusement. "Sure thing, kid. What're you looking for?"
"I'm trying to find G.I.R.L.," Y/N explained. "I heard it might lead me to some people who can help."
The old man folded his newspaper and smiled warmly. "Ah, G.I.R.L. Genius In action Research Labs. Quite the place, isn't it? Run by some of the brightest minds around." He pointed down the street. "Head that way, take a left at the next intersection, and you'll see a building with a big sign. Can't miss it."
Y/N nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude. "Thank you, sir. I really appreciate it."
"No problem at all," the man replied, his smile widening. "Good luck with whatever it is you're doing. And remember, kid—no matter how tough things get, there's always a way through."
Y/N felt a strange sense of comfort from the old man's words. He nodded again, more resolutely this time. "Thanks. I'll keep that in mind."
As Y/N walked away, the old man watched him go, a knowing smile on his lips. "Excelsior," he whispered to himself before returning to his newspaper.
———
Nadia Van Dyne, the Wasp and founder of G.I.R.L. (Genius In action Research Labs), sat at her workbench, her eyes fixed on the two small disks before her. Each disk represented months of research and development, and today she was eager to test their capabilities.
The first disk was designed to shrink objects, similar to her own Pym Particles. The second disk had the opposite function, intended to enlarge objects. She picked up a small metal cube, no larger than a sugar cube, and placed it in front of her.
"Okay, let's see how this goes," Nadia muttered to herself, slipping on her protective goggles. She placed the shrinking disk on the metal cube and activated it.
The cube began to shimmer, its surface rippling as it gradually reduced in size. Nadia watched closely, noting the cube's smooth transformation into a tiny, almost microscopic speck. Satisfied, she reached for a magnifying glass to inspect it more closely.
"Perfect," she said, a smile forming on her lips. "Now for the enlargement test."
She carefully removed the shrinking disk and placed the enlarging disk on the same metal cube. Activating it, she stepped back slightly as the cube started to expand. It grew steadily, the shimmering effect again visible. However, as it reached roughly the size of a coffee mug, she noticed something troubling.
The edges of the cube began to blur, and the surface lost its rigidity. Cracks formed along its sides, and it started to crumble.
"Darn it," Nadia muttered, jotting down notes on her tablet. "The integrity of the material can't withstand the expansion at larger sizes."
She deactivated the disk, stopping the enlargement process, and examined the damaged cube. Her brow furrowed in thought. "It seems the structural strength diminishes as the object grows. I need to find a way to reinforce the material or perhaps a new stabilizing agent for the disk."
———
The sleek, modern building stood tall, its reflective glass exterior gleaming in the sunlight. Y/N took a deep breath and pushed open the door, stepping into the bustling lobby.
He mumbled to himself, "Okay, how am I going to explain this? 'Hi, I'm Y/N, and I've been turning into these aliens that cause chaos and destruction. Oh, I should also mention they like killing people and I'm putting everyone in danger just by being here' Yeah, that'll go over well..."
The receptionist glanced up from her desk and offered a polite smile. "Welcome to G.I.R.L. How can I help you today?"
Y/N forced a smile. "Hi, I'm here to see Nadia Van Dyne. It's... um, kind of important."
The receptionist nodded and picked up the phone, speaking quietly into the receiver. After a moment, she looked up at Y/N again. "She'll be with you shortly. You can have a seat if you'd like."
Y/N thanked her and sat down, his mind racing with possible explanations and scenarios. He glanced around the lobby, taking in the high-tech displays and models showcasing various scientific advancements.
A few minutes later, the elevator doors opened, and Nadia Van Dyne stepped out, her expression curious and welcoming. She approached Y/N with a friendly smile.
"Hi, I'm Nadia. You wanted to see me?"
Y/N stood up, feeling a bit nervous. "Yeah, um, thanks for seeing me on such short notice. I have... well, I have something really important to talk to you about. It's about these transformations I've been experiencing."
"Transformations?" Nadia asked.
"I'll explain everything as soon as possible. Please." Y/N said nervously. "It's really important." He continued. Nadia could tell by his eyes and face that he was dead serious.
"Why don't we head to my lab, and you can tell me all about it?"
Y/N nodded, feeling a mix of relief and anxiety.
Y/N followed Nadia into her lab, a spacious room filled with advanced equipment, gadgets, and scientific paraphernalia. The walls were lined with whiteboards covered in complex equations and diagrams. Nadia gestured for him to take a seat at a large table in the center of the room.
"Okay," Nadia said, sitting down across from him. "Tell me everything. And don't worry, I'm pretty open-minded."
Y/N took a deep breath, trying to collect his thoughts. "Alright, so, first of all, please don't freak out. I can't emphasize that enough."
Nadia raised an eyebrow but nodded, signaling for him to continue.
"Okay, so, a few days ago, I came across this strange device. It looks like a watch, but it's not just any watch. It... it attaches itself to you and transforms you into these different alien creatures. And when I say 'alien,' I mean literal extraterrestrial beings with incredible powers."
He paused, watching Nadia's reaction. She seemed intrigued, not dismissive, which encouraged him to continue.
"The thing is, these transformations—they're not under my control. It's like something takes over, and I'm just along for the ride. And these aliens... they're not exactly friendly. They've caused a lot of destruction, and I—I've hurt people, a lot of people."
Nadia's expression grew more serious, but she remained focused on him. "Go on."
Y/N sighed, feeling the weight of his words. "I tried to get rid of it, but it's fused to my arm. It has these tentacles that dig into my bone. And every time it activates, it's slow and agonizing. I need help. I need to figure out what this thing is and how to control it—or, better yet, how to remove it."
He rolled up his sleeve, revealing the device. "This is it. This is the thing that's ruining my life."
Nadia leaned in, examining the watch closely. Her eyes widened with fascination and concern. "That's... I've never seen anything like it."
Y/N nodded, feeling a mixture of hope and desperation. "Can you help me? Can you figure out what this thing is and how to stop it?"
Nadia met his gaze, determination in her eyes. "I'll do everything I can."
Nadia quickly gathered a variety of tools from around the lab, her mind racing with potential solutions. She grabbed a small, high-powered saw and approached Y/N, who held out his arm with the Carnitrix device.
"Let's start with something simple," she said, positioning the saw carefully. "Hold still."
She activated the saw, and it whirred to life. She brought the blade to the device, but as soon as it made contact, the blade flew off, ricocheting around the room. Y/N ducked, eyes wide, as the blade finally embedded itself in the door with a loud thud.
"Well, that was unexpected," Nadia muttered, wiping her forehead. "Let's try something else."
Next, she secured a strong grip on the device and pulled with all her might. The device didn't budge. Y/N winced in pain as the tentacles dug in deeper, clearly not willing to let go.
"Okay, plan C," Nadia said, grabbing a set of industrial-strength cutters. She positioned them around the base of the device and began to squeeze. The cutters snapped shut with a loud clang, but the device remained intact. Instead, the cutters shattered, sending fragments skittering across the floor.
"Time for more extreme measures," Nadia said, reaching for a blowtorch. She ignited it, the flame roaring to life. "Hold still."
Y/N watched anxiously as she directed the flame at the device. But after a few minutes, it became clear that the blowtorch was having no effect. The device remained untouched and cool to the touch.
Nadia shut off the blowtorch and sighed, wiping sweat from her forehead.
Nadia called the other members of G.I.R.L. into the lab: Priya Aggarwal, Taina Miranda, Ying Liu, and Priscilla LaShayla Smith. The group gathered around Y/N, examining the device on his arm with intense curiosity and concern.
"Alright, we're going to try something stronger," Nadia said, pulling out a high-powered laser. She adjusted the settings and aimed it carefully at the device. "Everyone, stand back."
The laser beam cut through the air with a bright, intense light, focusing on the device. The room filled with the smell of burning metal, and everyone watched with bated breath. But after a few moments, the beam dissipated, and the device remained completely unaffected.
Priscilla's jaw dropped. "That's... that's not possible. It should have melted right off!"
Nadia turned off the laser, frustration evident on her face. "This thing is indescribable!"
Priya stepped forward, examining the device closely. "We need to understand its composition and mechanism. Maybe if we can analyze it at a molecular level, we can find a way to disable it."
Taina nodded in agreement. "Agreed. We need to figure out what it's made of and how it's integrated with Y/N. There must be some kind of internal locking mechanism or a failsafe."
Ying looked thoughtful. "What about its power source? If we can identify and cut off its power, it might deactivate."
Nadia nodded, considering the suggestions. "Alright, let's run a full scan and analysis. We'll need to use every resource we have to understand this thing."
As the team dispersed to gather equipment and prepare for the next phase of their investigation, Priscilla shook her head, still in disbelief. "This is like nothing I've ever seen. If the laser didn't work, what will?"
"I have an idea." Nadia said
———
"Your gonna hack it?"
Nadia, Priya, Taina, Ying, and Priscilla—huddled around Y/N, whose arm bore the seemingly indestructible Carnitrix.
Y/N, visibly nervous, asked, "How are we going to find an opening? This thing seems airtight."
Nadia, gave him a reassuring smile. "While it might seem airtight, there are always cracks. No device is truly perfect. We just have to find the weak spot."
The group set to work, utilizing every tool at their disposal. Nadia began with a meticulous scan of the device, using high-resolution imaging to map out every detail. Priya and Taina analyzed the scans, looking for any irregularities in the structure.
"Look here," Taina pointed at the screen, highlighting a minuscule seam near the base of the device. "This could be our entry point."
"Good catch," Nadia said. "Let's see if we can exploit that."
Priscilla and Ying prepped their equipment. They had a variety of tools ranging from micro-lasers to high-frequency ultrasonic devices designed to probe and pry into the smallest gaps.
Y/N watched nervously, his heart pounding. "Are you sure this is going to work?" he asked.
"We have to try," Priscilla replied, her tone firm. "This is our best shot."
Nadia directed the laser toward the seam Taina had identified. A thin, precise beam of light cut through the air, striking the tiny gap. The device resisted, its surface shimmering as if repelling the intrusion. But Nadia persisted, adjusting the frequency and intensity of the laser.
"Almost there," she muttered, eyes focused on the task.
As the laser worked, Ying and Priya monitored the device's responses. Suddenly, the Carnitrix emitted a soft, green glow.
"It's reacting," Priya noted. "Keep going."
The group pressed on, using a combination of lasers and ultrasonic pulses to weaken the device's defenses. Minutes felt like hours as they worked meticulously, searching for any signs of progress.
Finally, Nadia noticed a slight shift. "There!" she exclaimed. "The seam is widening. We're getting through."
Y/N held his breath as Nadia carefully manipulated the laser, coaxing the seam open further. The device seemed to fight back, its glow intensifying, but the team was relentless. Inch by inch, they pried open the crack, revealing the inner workings of the Carnitrix.
"Now," Nadia said, switching to a more delicate tool. She inserted a fine probe into the opening, navigating the intricate mechanisms inside. "We're in. Let's see if we can hack into its systems."
Nadia connected wires and cables, linking the device to their computer systems.
"Okay, everyone ready?" Nadia asked, her fingers hovering over the keyboard.
The team nodded, and Nadia began the process. Lines of code scrolled rapidly across the screens as they tried to penetrate the device's security.
As the team attempted to hack into the device, lines of code raced across the screens, flickering and flashing with data. Nadia's fingers flew over the keyboard as she navigated the security systems embedded within the watch.
"Look at this," Priya said, pointing to a series of numbers and letters that seemed to repeat in a pattern. "It's like it's cycling through a security protocol."
Suddenly, the screen flickered and a strange symbol appeared—a circular emblem with a green hourglass-like design in the center.
"What is that?" Taina asked, her eyes widening. "I've never seen anything like it."
"It looks like some sort of logo," Ying observed, leaning in closer. "But it doesn't match any known tech companies or organizations."
Priscilla frowned, her mind racing. "This is beyond anything we've ever dealt with. That symbol—it's almost like it's marking its territory."
For a moment, it seemed like they were making progress, but then the device began to hum ominously.
A bright green beam shot out from the center of the device, piercing through the cables and circuits connected to it. Sparks flew, and the lights flickered violently. The hum grew louder and louder until—
BOOM!
The entire lab was plunged into darkness. The team scrambled for flashlights, the glow of their screens now the only source of light in the room. Nadia quickly pulled up the backup power on her tablet, revealing the extent of the damage.
"This... this isn't good," Priya said, her voice trembling. "The whole grid is down."
Ying glanced out the window, seeing the city in total blackout. "It's not just us. This thing caused a massive power outage across New York."
Taina sighed, rubbing her temples. "Well, at least we know it has a pretty impressive defense system. Whoever made that device, didn't want anyone taking it off."
Y/N looked around, guilt and frustration building up inside him. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen."
Nadia shook her head, her resolve firm. "This isn't your fault. We'll figure this out, but we need to approach it from a different angle."
———
At the police station, Patrick Mulligan was poring over paperwork at his desk, the soft hum of the building's electronics providing a familiar background noise. Across from him, rookie cop Ben Tennyson was organizing files, trying to make a good impression on his first day.
"So, Ben," Patrick said, not looking up from his work. "What made you want to join the force?"
Ben shrugged, glancing up. "I've always wanted to help people. And I guess I've had some...experience dealing with unusual situations."
Before Patrick could probe further, the lights flickered and then abruptly went out, plunging the station into darkness. The hum of the electronics died, replaced by the unsettling silence of a blackout.
"Great," Patrick muttered, standing up. "Just what we needed."
The backup emergency lights kicked in, casting an eerie red glow throughout the station. Patrick grabbed a flashlight from his desk drawer and clicked it on.
"Ben, check the circuit breakers. I'll see if there's any word from the power company."
Ben nodded and hurried towards the maintenance room. As he walked, he pulled out his own flashlight, sweeping the beam across the darkened hallways. He could hear other officers muttering and moving around, trying to figure out what had caused the sudden blackout.
In the maintenance room, Ben found the circuit breakers, but flipping them had no effect. He frowned, knowing this was more than just a typical outage.
Meanwhile, Patrick reached for the radio on his desk, attempting to contact dispatch. "This is Mulligan at the precinct. Do we have any information on the blackout?"
Static crackled through the radio before a garbled voice responded, "We've got reports of a massive power outage across the city. Cause unknown at this time."
Just then. Every device in the city—from smartphones to billboards—flashed with a vibrant green symbol. It was a strange, angular design that neither of them recognized. Immediately following the symbol, alien text scrolled across the screens in an unrecognizable script.
Ben ran back in.
"Do you see that?" Ben asked, his voice tense.
"Yeah," Patrick replied, his eyes wide. "I've never seen anything like it."
Across the city, people stopped and stared at their devices, confusion and fear spreading like wildfire. The streets, already chaotic from the blackout, were now filled with murmurs and shouts as everyone tried to make sense of the sudden, cryptic message.
In the police station, officers clustered around monitors, trying to decipher the alien text. Patrick's radio crackled with frantic voices from dispatch and other officers, all reporting the same phenomenon.
"What does it mean?" one of the officers muttered, staring at a screen.
———
Just then, the Carnitrix on Y/N's wrist began to glow with a sinister green light. The familiar activation sound filled the room, causing everyone to freeze in place. Y/N's eyes widened in panic.
"No, no, not now," Y/N muttered, clutching his wrist. "Stop it!"
But nothing happened. For a moment, it seemed as if the device had malfunctioned. The green light continued to glow, but there was no immediate transformation. Nadia and the others exchanged confused glances.
"Maybe this one is a dud?" Taina suggested, her voice tinged with hope.
But then the temperature in the room started to drop rapidly. Everyone could see their breath in the air as the warmth was sucked away. Y/N's eyes went wide with terror as he felt a searing cold spreading through his veins.
"It's getting colder," Priya noted, shivering and rubbing her arms.
Y/N screamed in agony and fell to the ground, convulsing. The girls watched in horror as his back arched unnaturally, and with a sickening crack, a pair of wings burst from his back, spreading out and sending a gust of icy wind through the room. His skin began to turn a frosty blue, and frost formed on the floor and walls around him.
"Y/N!" Nadia shouted, reaching out but unsure how to help.
Y/N's body continued to change, his features becoming more alien and insect-like. His fingers elongated into sharp claws, and his eyes turned an icy blue. His entire body was encased in a layer of shimmering ice, and soon, Y/N was no more. In his place stood Big Chill, an otherworldly creature with a ghostly presence and a chilling aura.
Big Chill let out an unsettling, inhuman screech that echoed through the building. His wings flapped slowly, creating an eerie silence as frost continued to spread outward from where he stood.
"We need to get out of here," Priscilla said, her voice shaking with fear.
"Move, now!" Nadia commanded, grabbing a nearby device and ushering the others towards the door.
As they ran, Big Chill's cold eyes followed them, and with a sudden burst of speed, he took to the air
Emergency power flickered on, casting the room in a dim, red glow. Nadia quickly moved to the control panel, her fingers flying over the buttons.
"Lockdown initiated," she announced.
The room's heavy steel door began to descend slowly. Big Chill, now fully transformed and radiating an icy aura, hovered menacingly above them. His cold, unblinking eyes locked onto the group.
"Move it!" Taina shouted, urging the others to hurry.
Just as they made it through the door, Big Chill let out an ear-piercing screech and lunged at them, wings spread wide and claws outstretched. The emergency door was only halfway down, and it looked as if he might make it through before it sealed shut.
"Come on, come on!" Priscilla yelled, glancing back in horror.
Big Chill was almost upon them, his icy breath chilling the air and frost forming rapidly on the walls and floor. Just as he was about to reach them, the emergency door slammed down with a resounding thud, cutting him off.
There was a moment of stunned silence, the team panting heavily as they huddled together in the now-sealed room. The sound of Big Chill's claws scratching against the steel door sent chills down their spines.
Nadia took a deep breath, her mind racing. "Okay, we're safe for now. We need to figure out how to reverse this transformation or at least contain him until we can get help."
"That was way too close," Priya said, still catching her breath.
Soon, Janet Van Dyne, better known as the Wasp, along with Mockingbird and a team of heavily armed security personnel, rushed to them. Their expressions were a mix of concern and urgency.
"Is everyone okay? The power went out and locked down initiated. What happened?" Janet asked, scanning the group for injuries.
"We're fine, but we have a serious problem," Nadia replied, her voice trembling slightly.
Before she began, a chilling sound filled the room. Frost spread rapidly across the emergency door, and a thick layer of ice formed with alarming speed. The temperature plummeted, and everyone instinctively took a step back.
Mockingbird raised her weapons, eyes narrowing.
With a deafening crack, the ice-covered door shattered into pieces, sending shards flying in all directions. Big Chill burst through the opening, his icy wings unfurled and eyes glowing with a menacing light.
"What the hell is that thing?!?" One guard asked.
The security team aimed their weapons, but before they could fire, Big Chill let out a bone-chilling screech, freezing the air around him. The room's temperature dropped further, and frost began to creep up the walls.
