Episode 69
"Mom...?" Jimin echoed, turning back to the woman walking towards the rest of them.
Jungkook very rarely spoke of his mother, and even when he did it was to clarify his family's situation. Namely, that his mother had divorced his father but lost the custody of her son because of recurrent business trips out of the country.
"Jungkook," the woman whispered, worry clearly painted across her features. "I looked everywhere for you, but your father changed you from your old school and moved, I couldn't find you and I... I."
She never finished her sentence, wrapping her arms around her son and pulling him into a bone crushing embrace.
"I was so worried," she whispered.
Jungkook seemed utterly flabbergasted, his hands hovering around his mother's frame in shock. He quickly glanced at Jimin, a panicked look that Jimin could easily read as 'what the hell do i do?!'.
Jimin simply smiled, giving him an encouraging look.
"Now," Jungkook's mother said, loosening the embrace to take a look at her son's bruised features. She turned to look at Jimin, eyes suddenly cold. "What happened here?"
"Just a simple fight Miss, everything has been taken care of already," Jimin's mother piped in.
"I don't think so," she replied, taking a step closer to Jimin and towering over him, now he knew who Jungkook got his height from. "Clearly you don't seem very concerned about the consequences of your actions."
"Mom!" Jungkook tried to level from behind her.
"No, no, this young gentlemen should know not to mess with my son."
Jimin looked back to Jungkook, eyes wide in an attempt to ask what was the best course of action not to anger his mother even further. Jungkook simply mirrored his gaze with yet another panicked glance.
"We apologies, but our sons were simply involved in some friendly banter, I'm sure it was nothing serious-" Jimin's father attempted, stepping in next to his son.
"Nothing serious? Clearly you haven't seen the state of my son," Mrs Jeon answered rather calmly.
"We have," Jaesung glanced over her shoulder to Jungkook, "Jungkook doesn't seem that remorseful."
Mrs Jeon did not seem convinced, but as Jungkook gently pinched the sleeve of her blazer, she turned around to meet his downcast eyes.
"Jungkookie, are you alright?" she asked. "You can tell me if you want me to press charges, we can-"
"I'm fine mom." Jungkook said. "Jimin and I made up already"
"Oh you're just like your father," his mother said in an exasperated sigh, "this isn't how you deal fights. If someone is attacks you, you shouldn't fight them back but press charges. Charges Jungkook. Don't let people hurt you like this..."
Miss Jeon did not realise just how deeply her words had hurt both of the boys in front of her.
Jungkook looked down, visibly hurt at the fact he had just been compared to his father, the man he had been trying so hard to grow away from. Jimin had just been called an attacker, and everyone in the room tensed at the mention of pressing charges.
Jungkook glanced apologetically at his boyfriend.
"Mom, Jimin isn't like that he-"
"I don't want to hear it, we should deal with this in legal terms and settle for-"
"Mom!" Jungkook suddenly yelled, utterly frustrated. "I told you to stop! Why don't you listen to me?!"
"Because clearly this young man isn't someone you would want to associate with," she said to him, "I mean look at him, he has tattoo's and piercings everywhere!"
"Who do you even think you are?! You leave me all alone with dad and think you can waltz right back into my life and tell me what to do?! You were the one who left me, what right do you have to dictate who I can associate with now?! Jimin makes me happy and he was there for me when you were on the other side of the ocean!" Jungkook yelled.
His mother stayed silent, evidently stunned, looking at him with slightly apologetic eyes and turning back to Jimin in guilt, though still with a little apprehension in her eyes. She sighed.
"Alright Jungkook, I'm sorry," she said, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.
He swiped it off with a cold glare, quickly taking the few steps towards Jimin, grabbing ahold of his hand and pulling him outside the police station.
Jimin interlocked his fingers with Jungkook's as soon as they were outside, desperately trying to keep up with the quick pace of his strides.
They stopped at the playground they had just fought in, Jungkook finally letting go of his hand.
"Sorry Minnie, I just-" he said, placing one of his hands against his eyes. "I was really angry."
"I know Kookie, I know," Jimin said, looking at him intently. "You can cry now."
And Jungkook choked out a sob, taking his hand away from his eyes and wiping at his tears furiously.
"I'm sorry she said those things to you," he said, sobbing.
"It's fine, she doesn't know me," he said. "I'm sure she just wanted to protect you."
"Still..." Jungkook whined.
And Jimin took a step forward and simply wrapped a hand behind his neck, pulling Jungkook head closer and guiding it to rest on the dip of his shoulder.
"It's okay Kookie, it's okay," he said, letting Jungkook hold his waist tightly as he openly cried on his shoulder.
"Why is she even here?" Jungkook said to himself, "I just want to be alone."
Jimin felt him squeeze him even tighter, not saying a word and instead running his hands through his hair gently to sooth him.
It was already getting dark, although they were getting out of winter the sun still set rather early, and with all the time they had spent in the police office it was already low in the sky.
The playground was empty, and as Jungkook loosened his hands around his waist he didn't think twice about letting Jimin wipe his tears gently and place his lips on his.
Jimin kissed him tenderly, letting his arms settle around Jungkook's broad shoulders and leaning his weight onto the younger.
Their lips molded softly, Jimin tilting his head to the side slightly, pressing his lips deeper into Jungkook's to let him know he was there for him.
Jungkook squeezed Jimin's waist one last time before breaking the kiss, sliding his hands to rest on Jimin hips as he let his forehead rest against Jimin's.
"Thanks Jimin," Jungkook said.
"Of course," Jimin smiled.
There was a moment of silence, before Jungkook closed his eyes.
"I'm so happy you accepted to date me," Jungkook whispered, letting his head fall back on Jimin's shoulder.
Jimin giggled.
"I'm happy too. I didn't know I could make someone smile so wide, but when I'm with you, I feel like... I don't know, I'm the best version of myself."
Jungkook chuckled again, squeezing Jimin even tighter than before, losing himself in the soft smell of Jimin's laundry detergent, breathing in its familiarity.
Suddenly he was aware of Jimin's chest pressed so tightly against his own, his hand gently running through his hair, and how small Jimin's waist felt between his arms.
The indecent thought that flashed through his mind suddenly made him feel guilty, and he quickly let Jimin go, clearing his throat awkwardly.
Jimin looked at him questioningly, before smiling teasingly.
"Was that too cheasy for you?" he asked.
"No erm," he mumbled, looking away, "I like it, when you say cheasy stuff."
Jimin froze for just a second, impresses by Jungkook's honesty before breaking in a wide smile.
"Yah, you'll make me blush."
