Episode 51

"Morning Jimin." Namjoon said, his gentle voice music to the younger's ears.

Jimin waved at him with a closed lipped smile, weary of the teacher behind his friend giving him a mean look. Ever since he had been talking with Yeonsgu and Namjoon, teachers had been looking out for him when he spoke to confront him about not speaking in class.

"I have amazing news," Namjoon said as they started walking side by side to the lockers. "Leemin and Hansol got suspended for two weeks."

Jimin's head snapped to face him, wide and surprised eyes looking at Namjoon for further information. Although Leemin and Hansol being every teacher's worst nightmare was far from new, this was the first time they were actually punished further than a simple detention.

The coach of the MCSC had always been a smooth talker, and with all the influence the club had (mostly earning a lot of money from sponsorships and tournaments), he always managed to get his pupils out of trouble if it meant they could secure him a win.

"What did they even do? burn a classroom down?" Jimin joked as they finally reached his locker.

"No but close, they spray painted the staff bathroom, and put firecrackers under the toilet seat. The principal got a pretty nasty surprise and I think he was not happy about it," Namjoon said.

Jimin couldn't help but giggle. The thought of their old and crusty school principal sitting down on a toilet seat and jumping as the firecrackers pop under him was just too funny to resist.

"This means no more asshats to annoy you in the halls," the older then added as he looked down at Jimin with the softest of smiles.

Jimin smiled back, and as he looked at Namjoon he couldn't help the warmth blossoming in his chest. He truly was grateful to have met such kind hearted friends.

"Yah!" A yell broke through the hallway, and both students turned towards their friend, speed running towards them like their life depended on it.

"Good morning my friends, did you hear the news?" He asked, a goofy smile playing at his lips.

Jimin snorted as Namjoon flicked his forehead.

"We did Hyung," Jimin said.

As soon as he spoke, Yeongsu turned to him with an unusual glint in his eyes. It had been a few days since Jimin had noticed the different look in Yeongsu's eyes everytime he looked at him. It was as if he could read right through him to the most embarrassing thing that had happened to him and was silently laughing at him as Jimin stayed oblivious. Had Jungkook told him about that time melted cheese got stuck in his tongue piercing?

"What?" Jimin asked suspiciously, looking back at Yeongsu with a challenging gaze.

"Oh nothing," Yeongsu mused, until a certain someone came walking into their line of view.

"Yah!" Yeongsu immediately yelled, waving frantically as both Jimin and Namjoon hid behind the younger's locker door in embarrassment. "Jungkook-ah."

Jimin perked up at the name slightly, peeking from the side of the locker door as a small smile tugged at his lips. His eyes fell upon his boyfriend, walking towards them, just as embarrassed from his obnoxious senior. Jungkook had started to wear the winter uniform, switching his short sleeve button up shirt for the long sleeved one, even adding the navy blue cardigan over it.

He looked hot. Like some kind of idol doing the school look concept.

"Come here boy." Yeongsu said as he wrapped a strong arm around Jungkook's neck, pulling his head down slightly to mess up his hair. "How about having lunch with us today mhm?"

When he finally released the younger from his headlock, Jungkook looked up and his eyes met Jimin's. He looked even cuter now, with his hair all messy, sticking up in different directions as he looked at him embarrassedly.

"Sure," he mumbled, sticking his hands in the pockets of his slacks as a slight blush rose to his cheeks.

It was the first time he really approached Jimin in school, with a bunch of other people around, including his loud ass friend.

Yeongsu looked knowingly between the two of them before clearing his throat loudly. Namjoon stood in the corner, trying to understand the different dynamics within the group. Yeongsu looked like an intrusive mother trying to set her daughter up with a potential suitor, Jimin was smiling smugly at Jungkook and Jungkook was desperately trying to avoid both of their gazes.

Ah, that's how it is then. Namjoon thought as he chuckled, he leaned against the lockers, eager to see how this would play out.

"So Jimin," Yeongsu smiled smugly. "You're single right," he said, glancing at Jungkook smugly.

Jimin looked between the two of them, a small chuckle leaving his lips as Jungkook bit at his lip, looking down at his indoor slippers.

"No, I'm not actually." He said.

Yeongsu looked taken aback, glancing worriedly at Jungkook as an apologetic look flashed through his eyes.

"Really?" He said hesitantly. "You never mentioned it."

"Well, you didn't ask."

"Ah," Yeongsu scratched the back of his awkwardly, not knowing how to react. The conversation was definitely not going the way he wanted it to. "How's he like?"

"Well," Jimin mused. "He's very handsome, and looks super tough but he's actually the cutest little bean when you get to know him."

Jungkook got even more red if it was even possible, turning away from the conversation with a hand trying to hide his features from his friends. Yeongsu looked at him worriedly, feeling guilty that Jungkook seemed so embarrassed from the conversation. He was about to reach for his shoulder and say something when Namjoon finally hopped in, tired of seeing Yeongsu make a fool of himself.

"Oh my God Yeongsu, he's dating Jungkook you fucking dumbass."

***

"Why didn't you guys tell me you little bastards!" Yeongsu said, still not over the fact two of his best friends were now dating each other.

"Well again, you didn't ask" Jimin said calmly as he dug into his lunch."Plus it was fun to see you trying to set us up."

"I feel like such a fucking mooron." Yeongsu said, and both Jimin and Namjoon laughed, Jungkook only letting out a small smile.

He looked up from his warm stew, and around the table. Jimin was sitting across from him, Yeongsu beside him and Namjoon across the table. It felt foreign to be so close to Jimin at school. Although they were in the same class and dating each other, usually they stayed away from each other. It was like an unspoken agreement.

Jimin had his hair down, long strands falling around his features and shielding his eyes slightly. He looked like an emo straight from the 2000s. The Jimin he was used to always had his hair up, with some baby hairs framing his features like some kind of badass samurai.

He was laughing along with Yeongsu and Namjoon, and in that one moment, he felt truly lucky. Lucky that despite him being a total asshole to the people around him for most of his high school career, he had now found friends who cared for him, and someone who had accepted his feelings.

He wanted to give the positivity that they had given to him, back to others.

"Jungkook?" Someone asked, and he looked up from his friends to the person standing beside him.

"Hoseok?" Jungkook said. "what's up?"

Hoseok looked tired. He no longer had that sparkle in his eyes or the glow to his skin. Dark circles rimmed his dull eyes, and his lips were sealed in a straight line.

"Can I sit with you guys?" He asked softly.

Jungkook looked to his friends for a split second, before nodding, pulling the chair beside him.

"Are you alright?" Jimin asked softly.

Hoseok looked up to him, then back down to his tray slowly. He had talked about Jimin with Seokjin so much, and yet had never tried to speak to the boy directly. He missed Seokjin.

"I broke up with my boyfriend recently," he said.

Jimin's eyes immediately drooped, and Jungkook could tell he was unsure how to react.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Jimin asked softly.

"Nah, thanks though." Hoseok smiled.

And as Jimin smiled back he regretted not talking to him earlier. Jimin looked like such a sweet guy, Namjoon too, and Yeongsu- well Yeongsu was just loud and chaotic- yet why had he never tried to talk to them?

Maybe he had been spending too much time with Soekjin.
