Chapter 6: The Boy Next Door

Y/N brought her stuff to her room, seeing how nice it was. Not something she expected, but that was her thought when she first arrived in Hell. Once she put her stuff in there, she headed into the hallway and went to the room next to hers that was said to be Angel’s. It was easy to tell since he had light-up spider webs that formed a heart. She knocked on the door and waited for a minute before Angel opened it and was in shock.

“Y/N?” he asked.

“Hey, neighbor,” she smiled.

“Wait. You’re f*cking serious? You checked in? And within hours of officially meeting?” Angel wondered.

“Yep. Right next door to you,” Y/N answered, pointing to her room.

He then smirked and leaned against the doorframe, saying as he moved both his left arms down his body, “I knew you couldn’t resist this.”

She facepalmed and said, “And the flirt is back.”

“The flirt never left, Gorgeous. ‘Course you’re the first female to earn such a privilege and me mean it,” Angel stated.

Y/N moved her hand and wondered, “Can I ask why?”

He slightly frowned and answered, “Let’s just say…my job requires a lot of ‘flirting’.”

“Is it similar to what I witnessed at the club?” she asked.

“You could say that, but I don’t really like to talk about it,” Angel told her.

“Got it. And I know it’ll take time, but if you think I’ve earned enough trust for you to talk to me about it, I’ll be here to listen,” Y/N assured.

Angel smiled at that.

“It won’t take too long in that case,” he commented, making her smile, then he added teasingly, “You sure you were condemned to Hell? You act like you shouldn’t have been.”

Y/N’s eyes widened a bit at that.

“Then again, Charlie’s the same way and she’s the daughter of the devil himself, so I can’t comment,” Angel added.

She mentally sighed in relief before saying, “Yeah. I guess that happens. But what I just said will apply to you too. I’ll let you know in time, but it shouldn’t take too long.”

“Good to know,” Angel said with a smile.

Then something ran past her legs, making her slightly jump into Angel’s arms.

“What was that?” Y/N asked.

He chuckled and said, “Don’t worry. It’s just Nifty, the housekeeper.”

“Stab stab stab stab stab!” Nifty declared, rushing after some type of bug.

She then tripped and went tumbling down the stairs, making the two look over the stair rail.

“Is she okay?” Y/N asked in worry.

“Yay! Pain!” Nifty declared from the bottom.

“She’s fine. That’s how she is all the time,” Angel assured.

“Well alright then,” Y/N commented, blushed a bit, then apologized while nervously rubbing her arm, “And…sorry about…jumping into your arms like that.”

“You’re good. I actually liked it,” Angel said.

Y/N giggled while he chuckled at that.

“Well, I better let you get settled in. And if you’re up for it, Charlie’s having some type of welcoming shindig for ya tonight,” Angel said.

“Sure. Sounds fun. Guess I’ll see ya then,” she said.

“F*ck yeah you will,” he smirked before heading back to his room.

She laughed a bit while shaking her head. She then went to her room and started unpacking while trying to figure out what feeling she had when she was around Angel.

“Y/N, you can’t think about things like this. You have a mission, granted it’s one I don’t really agree with. But you gotta focus,” she told herself then went back to unpacking.

Eventually, she was unpacked and just laid on her bed, lost in thought, until time for the welcoming thing Charlie had planned.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N Well aren’t you excited to be Angel’s neighbor, but it could interfere with Adam forcing you to do this mission. Yikes. But back to it.
