~ 59 ~

"I can't believe the flight was delayed," Dayeong complained for what was probably the millionth time, but she couldn't care less. It was almost dawn, and they finally arrived. She was supposed to arrive last night, but because of bad weather, the pilot said they should wait. They all had to spend the night in her jet, which was fine because it was really spacious. But she wanted to see her brother. "I can't even see Hyunjin now," she grumbled. "It's way too early."

Chan laughed. He was on one side of her, Juyeon on the other. With the two of them, she felt completely safe, and completely at home.

"Just a few more hours," Chan assured you. "Your Highness, who would you prefer to guard your room door? Me, or Juyeon?"

She hesitated, wanting it to be Juyeon but also not wanting to hurt Chan's feelings by saying so. After all, it wasn't like she could tell him the reason why she'd want Juyeon to be the one guarding her. Or... maybe she could. That could make things a lot easier.

"You can," she told him. "But first... can I ask Juyeon something?" she said as they approached her room door. Chan just nodded, opening the door for the two of them. She pushed it shut behind them.

"Yes," Juyeon said.

Dayeong looked up at him in amusement. "You haven't even heard my question yet," she told him, raising her eyebrows at him.

"Aren't you going to ask if we can tell Chan?"

Her eyes widened and she looked at him with surprise in her eyes. "How'd you know that?" she asked, laughing.

"Honestly, I was kind of thinking the same thing," he admitted, scratching the back of his neck. His cheeks looked a little more pink than usual and she smiled, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"We were thinking the same thing," she told him. "I guess that makes us soulmates, right?" she asked playfully.

"I guess so," he agreed, laughing as he hugged her back. "Do you want me to be with you when you tell him or..."

"I'll do it by myself," she said, taking his hand and interlacing their fingers. "I'm honestly not sure how he'll take it. I told you, he's like another brother to me. And honestly, I'm not sure how Hyunjin is going to take it either... can we tell him too?" she asked, and Juyeon nodded. "I feel like they'll either be totally supportive, or totally against it, to try and protect me. You know?"

"I wouldn't blame them for being against it," Juyeon said, squeezing her hand. His eyes turned sad, and he suddenly wouldn't look at her. "I have nothing to offer you. I'm a nobody, and you're-"

"Don't speak that way about the man I love," she whispered, placing a hand on his cheek. His eyes slowly made their way to meet hers, and she was shocked to see the immense sadness in them. "Juyeon... you can't possibly believe that, right?" she said gently.

"It's true," he said, his voice breaking. At that, she wrapped her arms around him again, and he held her tightly as though he desperately needed her support. "I'm not good for you," he said, sounding near to tears. "You should run far away from me. If anyone finds out... your life will be destroyed. I won't even be able to protect you, and so I should run away from you too. I should leave and never come back. I should have been cold and mean to you from the start, so that you never would have fallen for me. I should break your heart now, so that you can easily leave me behind. But I'm selfish, and I can't," he whispered, his voice sounding so lost.

"Juyeon," he said gently, looking up at him again. He blinked rapidly, pushing back his mounting tears. "I love you. You say you have nothing to offer me? And yet you make me the happiest. Isn't that something, and something really big? I'm happiest when I'm with you," she told him sincerely. "You say my life will be destroyed because of you? No. My life is better because you're in it. Silly, you make my life a thousand times better, don't you know that?" she said gently, stringing her arms around her neck and pulling him down so that they were nose to nose. "If you're selfish, then I am too. In fact, I'm way more selfish than you. Because I never plan on letting you go."

A small smile played on his lips. "Dayeong, I love you," he said softly.

"I know," she said, smiling at him too. "Now hurry up and leave so that I can tell Chan, and you can get some sleep," she told him playfully.

Juyeon pressed a kiss against her lips. It was probably meant to be a short kiss, but when he pulled away she kissed him again, and she felt him smile as he placed his hands on her waist, pulling her closer as her fingers ran through his hair.

"I love you," he said again, kissing her once more before leaving.
