Chapter 35
Diana's POV
Knowing Achilles was back did something to my heart that had never happened before, it turned it cold as ice. I knew that woman, that whore was no doubt one his many followers that he could only fight off for so long. I knew Achilles though, he would try to find a way to get to Alec but I would be there to stop him. There is now way in hell that he would get to my son! Meg could tell that I was beyond angry and had suggested to start with training as soon as possible, that way whenever Achilles decided to drop in unannounced as he always did, I would be ready for him.
Training wasn't easy and none of the trainers were allowed to go easy on me. I wanted to be trained just like the princes of Troy, so I was. Though granted, I wore something much different from top less men. A brown vest covered my chest and a lightweight dark brown skit made sure that I could fight but also keep my privacy, private. Instead of choosing a sword as my weapon though I decided to go a bit more offensive. Sword was my first weapon to be taught with but Sai's had become my personal favorite. They were an offensive weapon, not to mention you could throw them into your enemy.
After finishing my latest practice, I walked back to my room and bathed. Getting the grunge of sweat and heat from my body before dressing in a long dark blue dress. I did not wear the crown of the royals, I did not want to because I was not a princess. Walking out of my room I bump right into Levitica who looks up at me and smiles brightly.
"Warrior princess!" she laughs as she hugs my legs tightly.
Though I will admit I let Levitica refer to me as a princess just to please her. Smirking and shaking my head I hug the small child back before bending down to her level and looking her right in the eyes. She had her father's eyes, one look from Hector would make me admit anything to him and something told me he knew it.
"You my dear, one day, will be a greater warrior princess than I." I smile and wink at her giving her the encouragement she needs.
"Then I will make you and Alec and papa proud." She grins and then takes off into the hall.
"Of that, I have no doubt." I grin as I look to the other end of the hall where Hector leans against the far wall.
"Warrior princess? My daughter will be able to conquer armies?" Hector jokingly scoffs as he pushes off the wall and walks my way.
"With one look from her eyes, they will bow at her feet." I laugh as he shakes his head at me.
"She and Alec have both watched you train this past month. As have Paris and I, you have come quite some ways in just a month Diana but still no Achilles. Though I doubt that puts your mind at ease." Hector says as his hand gently grazes my forearm.
"Quite the opposite, it puts me more on edge. He is waiting for the moment when he thinks I am at my weakest, that is when he will make his move." I tell Hector as I look up into his eyes and my worries overcome me. "What if I can't keep him from Alec? What if he does dare take my son from me?"
Tears cloud my eyes but I can feel Hector pull me into his embrace. Here in his arms is where I feel the safest. My logic and reasoning with him have thrown caution to the wind and my heart has taken over with all thoughts having to do with Hector.
"Then the entire Trojan army will go and out looking for him, we will make sure that he is returned to his true parent. You Diana, his mother. The woman who gave her whole life to her child and has done nothing but protect him with all of your ability." Hector's voice says calmly as his words of comfort ring through my ears.
"DIANA!" I hear Meg scream at the top of her lungs.
Pulling away from Hector I go to the edge of the balcony and look down into the garden. There stands Meg with tears rolling down her face and my heart begins to panic. Looking up at me, she can barely get a word out. Running down the stairs and rushing to her side I hold her and try to understand what she is telling me.
"Woman...that woman has her...Levitica and Alec." Meg cries as she looks over at me. "I tried to stop her but she hit me upside the head."
"Meg, which way did she go?" I ask her calmly.
Meg points to the left corridor, leading down to the old wine cellar where I had left the palace many times before. Running to grab my weapons, I quickly grab them and take off to the old wine cellar. This woman may think she knows where she's going but I doubt she could run faster than I could throw my Sai. Once at the door of the old cellar I see the cob webs have been disturbed, pushing the door aside I am plunged into darkness but ahead of me I can see a small flicker of light.
No doubt the woman had lit a torch to know where she was going, that would be her demise. Running quietly through the cellar I found the tunnel door was open a well. Knowing it all too well, I made my way inside and could still see the flicker of light, just out of my reach.
"No! I want papa!" I could hear Levitica scream
There before my eyes I could see them finally, it was the whore I fought with before. In slow motion, I watched as she released Levitica and raised her hands high before it came down and contacted Levitica's cheek. Alec tried to hold her back but rage went through me when she had the nerve to hit a child. At full speed, I crashed into the woman and with no mercy coming to my senses I started hitting her head repeatedly. Blood gushed from the woman's face but it did nothing to stop me from adding to the bruises that would appear on her face.
"YOU NEVER HARM A CHILD!" I screamed at the woman, at the top of my lungs while still hitting her until she no longer put up a fight.
Pausing I looked down, the woman's face was covered in blood. Lifting my hands up I saw the same blood now stained my hands. Hearing a whistle, I looked up and could hear others coming. Turning back to Levitica and Alec I panicked.
"Run! Get out of here and go get Hector. I will take care of them." I tell the children as I take my Sai's and spin them in my hands. "Go!"
Alec nodded and took Levitica's hand and ran down the opposite end of the tunnel. They would find Hector I knew they would. I didn't know if I would live in time to see him though. Leaning against the side of the wall I held the Sai's up ready to use them if necessary. A blonde woman came forward and dropped to her knees as she saw the now dead whore upon the ground.
"You promised us we wouldn't get hurt here. Alena is now dead! Your crazy woman has killed her!" the woman cries out as she leans over the dead woman.
"Obviously, she has changed and once I find her I will make sure to end her then take my son." Achilles cold voice spoke up as he walked forward and looked down at the dead whore. "She can be replaced, just like you."
"I'll kill her for you lover and for my sister!" the woman cries out as she stands up but she doesn't have time to speak again as I turn around and one swift slice with my Sai she now joins her dead sister on the floor.
Achilles doesn't speak at first as he looks at me. My weapons still in my hands as I tighten my grip and watch him with the eyes of an eagle. The light wasn't helpful for either of us. Achilles shakes his head as he taps the woman's body with his foot to see if she will move or speak. Neither of which happen.
"Death doesn't become you Diana. Killing innocent women-"Achilles starts but I stop him.
"She harmed a child, in my mind that is no innocence." I correct him as I watch him carefully.
Laughing, Achilles takes a step closer to me only resulting in me slicing again and making a cut right across his right bicep. Looking down in pain Achilles hisses as blood comes to the wound and reveals itself.
"You have become wild, I use to love that about you. Why couldn't you be like that when we were married?" Achilles says as he grabs my head and against my will pulls our faces together.
"Because you kept her prisoner from herself, now release her." Hector's voice calls out from the shadows.
Achilles begrudgingly abliges. Pulling his head away from mine and rising his hands into the air because he has no idea how many warriors Hector brought with him. Three men come forward and put shackles on Achilles. Hector walks forward and looks me over to make sure I am not injured. Lucky for me, I'm not. Turning back to his men with one nod the men know what to do.
That's when everything really hit me. Looking back at the two women, I drop my weapons and look at the blood that now stained my skin and dress. My eyes quickly found hector's again and there was no doubt in my mind that he knew what I felt. Pulling me to him he held me close as I began to cry. I had killed two women. One I had literally killed with my bear hands.
"Diana, you saved Levitica, she is so grateful as am I and she really wants to see you." Hector says calmly again. "Sometimes to protect the ones you love you do what you must, including taking someone's life."
Pulling away I look up at Hector.
"Hector, I killed that woman who hit Levitica with my bear hands." I cry as I feel so helpless.
"You saved her Diana! You did what you had to and I will not allow you to feel guilty for saving my daughter and your son! You have no idea what that woman could have done to them. I am proud of you for defending them." Hector says as he kisses my forehead. "Come let's get you clean."
"What of Achilles? I doubt he will just stay in a cell, someone will break him out." I comment as I walk with Hector down the long tunnel back to the palace.
"Not if we kill him." Hector shrugs.
"Hector, I despise him but is there nothing else we can do?" I question as I stop Hector from walking by standing in front of him.
Sighing Hector looks deep into my eyes.
"Banishment. That would allow bounty hunters to kill him though if he ever returned to new Troy." Hector said as he took my hand in his and we started to walk again.
Banishment was better than death...right?
