Chapter 10
Alya's POV:
I stormed through the hospital doors.
I went past the nurse's station and into her room.
I knew now from the news that she was alive.
I was relieved that Marinette was not dead.
I entered her room and heard the door as it banged shut behind me.
I saw Chat as he stood beside the bed with leaky eyes.
"Chat, what is the matter? Is she ok?" I asked.
I felt my voice tremble as I spoke.
"Marinette's ribs are cracked, there is a bruised shoulder, broken ankle, and she could pass away any moment now from the lung damage. I am so sorry." I heard Chat as he explained the situation to me.
I saw the unsteady breath that came from my best friend.
"What caused the breathing difficulty?"
"Her lungs were crushed by the beam that pinned her down." I listened to Chat say.
I felt it was unfair that Marinette should be on her deathbed soon after her parents abandoned her.
I knew life was not always fair, but it is Marinette.
I sighed in defeat.
I walked over to her.
I did not want to remember her this way in all this pain.
"Marinette, it is me, Alya. I came to see you. Look, I swear I did not know you made it out of the damaged bakery until I saw the news footage. I am sorry." I apologized to her.
I figured there was no sense in letting her die without it.
"Alya, it is okay," I heard her voice as it cracked.
"Take care of Nino and Adrien for me." I heard her plead with me.
I did not have the heart to tell her that Nino and I were no longer a couple.
I just nodded my head in agreement.
I heard a loud thud as the door was shoved open, and Nino barged right inside.
I did not say a word. I knew it was not necessary.
I felt Nino pull me into his arms.
I grabbed ahold of him and closed my eyes.
I knew it was probably wrong since he was with someone else. All that mattered at that moment was I needed the comfort that came from him.
I felt bad for Chat. Who would console him?
