♥Chapter Three-My Kind Of Crazy-♥
♥Jayceon's POV ♥
As Jayla lifts her head I lock eyes with her, it's like time stood still. My heart starts to race, and I feel like this girl is my future Queen.
Woah,Jayceon, snap out of it! Futures like that don't exist for me, I'm not worthy of love. Then why did I ask her on a date? Because there is something special about this girl. Who knows, maybe she can put my shattered soul back together again.
"I hate to leave while things are going great, but my friend just text me to let me know that Uber is here. We should exchange numbers for our date." Jayla says snapping me out of my trance.
"Of course beautiful," I tell her as we exchange cell phones. "I'll text you tomorrow. I can't wait until Wednesday to take you on our date." I hand her cell phone back to her then kiss her hand.
She blushes and says her goodbye then I watch her walk out with her friend, silently hoping she is safe.
I grab our glasses and take them over to Zayne. He shouts out the last call warning, since we are about to close.
Damn, I didn't notice it was almost four in the morning.
"Yo, bro, who was that hot chick you were talking to? A piece of..." Zayne snickers before I cut him off.
"Don't finish that sentence Zayne!" I interrupt, glaring at him. Any other time we can talk 'locker room talk' about women, and it doesn't phase me. But there's something about this beauty of a country girl. It hit a nerve when he started talking about Jayla that way.
Zayne holds his hands up in defence and backs away. "Damn my bad, bro! I've never seen you act this way over a woman before. What's up with that?"
"You and Hayden close the bar for me tonight, I'm going home."
Truthfully, I don't know why I got so defensive towards him. It aggravates me just thinking about why. I retrieve my keys from my office, walk out of Poison and hop into my black truck to leave. I'm not ready to go home just yet, so I drive towards my favorite spot, my only place of serenity, the fishing pond.
♥Jayla's POV♥
'Yeah, but she's my kind of crazy, the little games she plays, Lord, they never get old. She's too cute to get on my last nerve. The way she throws her little fits, pokin' out her lips and bitin' mine when we kiss. There ain't a fight that she can't win, that's my baby, and she's my kind of crazy.'
"Oh sweet baby Jesus why did I drink so much last night?" I say out loud as I turn my phone alarm off.
I love waking up to Brantley Gilbert's, ‘My Kind Of Crazy’ anytime, except for now. I'm praying for silence and a blacked out room. Goodness this is one hell of a hangover!
While lying in bed I text one of my workers at my shop to let her know I'm too sick to come into work today. It's no wonder I rarely drink, hangovers are hell. Before I can close my eyes again to go back to sleep the door bell begins to chime making Cardi bark.
"Dammit, who is here this early? Shush Cardi," I complain, as I began to descend down the stairs.
I open up the front door to find Lily standing on my front porch. "Oh good, you're awake." She says, as she strides past me, still wearing the same dress she wore last night.
"Why are you yelling? Also, why are you wearing the same dress from last night?" I question her as I go to the kitchen to start a pot of coffee.
"I'm not yelling, your weak ass is just hungover. Anyhow, after the Uber drop me off last night, Wesley text me. So I went back to the bar and hung out with him and two bartenders. I had him drop me off at your house just now." She tells me while opening a banana to eat. "I hope you don't mind."
"Of course not, ladybug. Do you like this Wesley guy? What time is your date tonight with him?"
"At seven O'Clock. He's taking me out to dinner and a movie. Then who knows what after."
Lily is really perky this early in the morning, especially for someone who was drunk just a few hours ago.
"He better not hurt you, Lils, or I will rearrange that pretty face of his," I tell her as I pour us both a cup of coffee.
"It's just one date, Jay. Besides, I think there's another guy I have my eyes on." Her face is practically glowing as she tells me this information.
"So why go on a date with Wesley if you're feeling someone else?" I ask her, as I grab my caramel creamer out of the refrigerator.
"It would be rude to cancel on Wes! Don't judge me, but, the new guy is a bartender at Poison. I met him last night and we just clicked," she explains.
"It's not–it's not Jayceon, is it?" I ask her, praying silently that she says no.
"Of course it's not, Jayla. I may have been drunk last night, but I remember y'all have a date in a few days. His name is Hayden, we have a lot in common. Wesley is cool and all, but there is this connection that Hayden and I have that pulls me in." Lily says while smiling.
Lily and I continue our conversation on my porch swing while she waits for the Uber to pick her up. Even though I was hungover, this crisp autumn morning is beautiful. I Love living in West Virginia, especially during this season. I'm surrounded by gorgeous mountains that have bright, amazing colors of leaves on them.
It's only ten in the morning so I am still tired. Finally, the Uber arrives to take Lily home. I lock my front door and go back to my bedroom to lay down so I can sleep the day and hangover away. As soon as I get under the covers, my text alert goes off. It's Jayceon, I smile as I read his text.
Jayceon: Good morning, beautiful, hope you slept well. 😘
Me: Good morning, handsome. I'm incredibly hungover from the strong drinks a certain someone made me.💆 😂
Jayceon: Oh, poor baby! 😞Are you working today?
Me: I was suppose to.. But.. I took the day off 💁
Jayceon: Hmmm... So did I! 😁 I wanted to see how you were doing this morning. I can't stop thinking of a certain blue eyed beauty I met last night. 😜
Me: You're making me blush!🙈 Honestly, I've been thinking of a gorgeous blue eyed beauty I met last night as well.😉
Jayceon: I'm excited for our date on Wednesday. It's too bad I can't see you tonight *pouty face*😞
Me: 🤔Who says you can't? I have no plans tonight, except for Netflix😂😂 Do you have any plans tonight?
Jayceon: None at all!!
Me: would you like to come over around 3 or 4 p.m.? I'll Cook something for you.🍝🌯🍲🍛🍮🍽
Jayceon: That sounds really great. Send me your address, and I Will be there at 3 p.m.♥
I send him my address then head out to the grocery store to get the items to cook for this evening. An hour later I return home and begin to get ready for my evening with Jayceon.
After taking a long, steamy shower, I dress in light grey Nike leggings, a white Nike shirt and a basic white pair of Jordans. I want to be casual yet relaxed for the night.
Right at three o'clock the food is finished and my home smells delicious. I have made homemade chicken and dumplings, fresh collard greens, sweet glazed carrots, corn bread and my mama's peanut butter pie. I hope he likes what I've made.
While I'm lost in thought my doorbell rings, and I am instantly nervous. It's our first night alone with each other. I take a relaxing, deep breath and open the front door.
