Chapter 6: Filming The Power Hour (featuring a suspicious phone call)

Everyone in the room nods, ready to film the Power Hour. Dan and Arin set up the mug and dinosaurs and sit down at the table, while Allie and I take a seat on the small couch that's in the Power Hour room. I can't wait to do the show with Dan and Arin! This doesn't even seem real. Not only have I met all of the Grumps (can I just say how much of a sweetheart Suzy is), I'm filming a video with the two best ones.

Arin smacks the table with his hands and yells, "WHERE'S TUCKER? HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE IN HERE BY NOW!"

I gasp dramatically. "HE'S MISSING! MAYBE WE SHOULD DO A POWER HOUR TRYING TO FIND HIM INSTEAD OF A SELF-CARE ONE!"

"(Y/N)'s right..," Dan says, standing up and shaking his fist at nothing. "We must find Tucker...he's probably in trouble. He's fought for us ever since he started working here...it's time for us to fight for h—Oh, hey Tucker." Dan sits down, smiling.

We look over, and the long-haired boi known as Tucker walks into the room. "Sorry it took so long, guys. I was just finishing something up." He then takes his seat behind the camera.

"Wow, Tucker. You interrupted Dan's speech about you. SuCh DiSrEsPeCt," I say. I now notice that the camera's on me, and, just like the Grumps would, I say, "...Are we rolling?"

Tucker nodded from his camera.

"Well, I'll be damned," I say.

"Hello, and welcome to the 10 Minute Power Hour, everybody!" Dan says, and Tucker moves the camera to Dan.

"Hello," Arin adds with a smile. He then stares at the camera for a bit while Dan drums his hands on the table. Dan looks over at Arin and watches him stare at the poor camera.

Then Arin shoves the mug and dinosaurs off the table, and Dan just watches Arin do his thing.

"What are we doing today, Arin?" the curly-haired boyo asks.

"I don't know, Dan. What are we doing today?" Arin repeats.

"Well, from what you told me, we're gonna he doing a part two of the self-care session we did on the Power Hour a while ago," Dan says, looking satisfied that he knows what him and Arin are doing, for once.

"That's exactly what we're gonna be doing, Daniel!" Arin says and throws a nail art box onto the table, along with a makeup kit. Except this nail art box contains nothing but actual nail polish (not those cheap fake nails) and the makeup kit is actually legit-looking. It has mascara, eyeliner, lipstick, and non-goopy eyeshadow in its box. "But there's something special about this Power Hour!"

My heartbeat speeds up. My introduction is coming.

"What's special about it, Arin?" Dan says.

Arin smiles widely and gestures in my direction. "We have a guest joining us! It's (Y/N) (L/N), our good friend!"

"Yay!" Dan says and begins to clap. "Come on up, lovely!"

Ignoring the anxiety fluttering around my stomach, I get up and walk into the view of the camera. "Hey, guys. What's good?" I then grab a chair and sit in between Arin and Dan. "I can't wait to get my self-care on."

   Mom's dead.

   Dad's gone.

I keep a smile on my face; wouldn't wanna cry like a baby in front of the camera. Sure, my parents are gone, but hey, the show must go on, I guess.

Arin smiles at me and slams the makeup kit against the table, his way of opening it. "Are you ready for me to make you beautiful?"

I gasp. "So I'm not beautiful now?"

Arin stares blankly at me, trying to process what I said. He then realizes his goof and goes, "Oh! I...uh...didn't mean it like that!"

Dan shakes his head and laughs to himself. "What a terrible human. (Y/N), I'll do your nails."

***

I look in the mirror once Dan and Arin are done ruining my life. I hit the table with disappointment and glare at each of them. "Okay, you guys didn't even try." My face looks like a god damn mess. And even that's an understatement. And as for my nails, Dan literally poured the nail polish on. He didn't even paint it on. And now it's all over my fingers.

"Excuse me?" Arin gasps and places a hand on his chest, offended. "You look like the Belle of the dang ball!"

I give a pained smile and give the camera a thumbs-up. "Yes. That is indeed what I look like." I then mouth to the camera, "I'm lying. Someone kill me. Please."

Arin and Dan laugh at that.

"Okay. Now I'm gonna do..." I look at Dan and smirk. "I'm gonna do Dan's makeup now." I look at Arin. "And you can style his hair."

Arin claps his hands together excitedly and walks behind Dan, beginning to play with his hair.

"I'm not entirely okay with this scenario," Dan says with a laugh.

"Well, too bad. Arin and I are gonna make you the prettiest person alive," I say, putting eyeshadow on the applicator thingy.

"Should I be offended that you don't think that already?" Dan asks. He winces. Arin must've hit a snarl in his hair. "Ow, Arin."

I shrug. "Just close your eyes."

"I do not trust you," Dan mumbles as he closes his eyes.

"Allie, hook me up with a few hair ties!" Arin says.

Allie nods and grabs a few hair ties, handing them to Arin. "Thanksies!" Arin says and begins to put Dan's hair up.

I then begin to apply pink eyeshadow to Dan's eyes, and he whimpers. "I do not like this. I hate everything about this."

"What, the makeup, or the fact that Arin's making you look like a female first-grader?" I ask, noticing that Arin's putting Dan's hair into pigtails.

"(Y/N), what is he doing to my hair?" Dan asks slowly.

I grin evilly. "You'll see when we're both done." So far, being on a Ten Minute Power Hour is pretty fun!

I then cover Dan's other eyelid with pink eyeshadow. I pop open the mascara tube and Dan whimpers once more. I look over at Dan. He's staring at the mascara tube with dread. "Stop being a baby," I say.

"Okay! Geez," Dan says with a laugh.

I then apply mascara to his eyelashes. "Dan, you now have the most luscious lashes I've ever seen," I say.

"Why thank you, (Y/N)," Dan responds.

I notice that Arin's been kinda quiet. I look up at him and I notice that he's pouring cheap lip gloss into Dan's hair and massaging it in with his fingers. I don't know where he got it, since it wasn't in the kit originally. Maybe it was from the other makeover Power Hour, or maybe he just happened to have some. I dunno. All I know is, that stuff is a real pain to get out. It may even take more than shampoo. Poor Dan.

I open my mouth to comment on Arin's actions, but he puts a finger to his lips, shushing me.

   I obey him.

I get some lipstick and apply it to Dan's lips. He keeps whimpering and groaning. "STOP!" Arin screams in the over-the-top way that he does.

Dan obeys him, but his facial expression still shows that he's not particularly enjoying this.

"Done!" I say, putting the cap back onto the lipstick and putting away all the makeup.

"Oh, thank God!" Dan says, sighing with relief.

"I'm almost done," Arin says. He then squeezes more lip gloss out of the tube and onto Dan's head. Arin smiles with satisfaction. "There we go. Now I'm done."

I'm actually pretty satisfied with Dan's makeup. It looks nice.

I hand Dan a mirror, smirking. He's gonna flip out once he sees the lip gloss in his hair.

"Whoa!" Dan says in awe. "You know, I actually look pretty! Thanks, (Y/N)!" His facial expression changes from pleased to annoyed. "And as for the hair...really, Arin? Pigtails? AND DID YOU POUR LIP GLOSS IN MY HAIR? WHAT IS THAT?"

Arin laughs. "Your hair looks beautiful now! The lip gloss is a nice touch!"

"Ugh, don't you know how hard it is to get lip gloss out of your hair?" Dan says with a sigh.

"Yep," Arin says. "But that's a small price to pay for gorgeous-looking hair."

Dan silently looks at the tube of lip gloss that's on the table. He then grabs it and squeezes lip gloss into Arin's hair.

"DUDE, WHAT THE HELL?!" Arin yells.

Dan smiles at the camera. "Next time on the Ten Minute Power Hour."

   I wave. "Goodbye!"

"And we're done!" Tucker says. "I gotta go, though. I'm hungry." He then leaves the room as I wave bye to him.

Arin is glaring at Dan, and Dan is looking at Arin with an innocent look.

"Well, thanks for having me on, guys!" I say, standing up from my chair. "This was fun!"

"You're welcome, (Y/N)!" Dan says with a smile. "You're welcome on this show anytime!"

Arin is still giving Dan the evil-eye. "Now I've gotta wash my hair..," Arin growls.

"So do I. I hope you're happy, Arin," Dan says.

I laugh. Then, my phone rings. "You guys do that. I'll take this call."

Arin and Dan nod. "All right," Dan says as they leave the room.

I walk out of the Power Hour Room also and look at who's calling, and it's an unknown number.

My stomach sinks. I have a bad feeling about this. I don't know why, but I have one. Maybe I shouldn't take this call...

I take the call anyway, ignoring the bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Hopefully this call won't prove my intuition right.
