In the morning, I had just gotten up, so shortly after 7 am, my doorbell rang. Seungyoun came to me to tell me that he is my new roommate and that he will be working as a police assistant in my police station from now on. I have no idea how my dad managed to do that, but somehow he managed to sneak Seungyoun in now as well.

I guess because of the staff shortage, the captain was just too happy to hire someone as a helper.

Seungyoun explained to me that he will work on my team and stay in the office when I am away with my team. That way, he can observe what is going on when I am not there. But, I'm assuming that they're probably not going to obviously show how they take bribes in front of Seungyoun.

We were sitting in the living room and I was telling Seungyoun in detail about my breakthrough with Chief Commissioner Miles when the doorbell rang again. All I could think was, please not someone else from the Agency. But no, it was just a courier handing me a large envelope. From the sender, Xiao Zhan!

I opened the envelope and found a thin stapler inside. I opened it and was amazed. Inside were 2 pictures of my brother and his husband on the ranch in America. As well as a list of Wen Xu's men who work for him. And there was a message from Zhan: "Look carefully at the names. You'll understand."

I read through the names and gulped, "Oh my God, Commissioner Tore also works for Wen Xu." I said in amazement.

Seungyoun also looked at the list and pointed to a name I already had suspicions about. "So Jong is one of them after all. I knew he wasn't trustworthy. But I wonder if he told Wen Xu about me." I muttered.

"Even if he did, the Wen's aren't our target. However, he might have told that commissar Tore about you."

We immediately called my father, who put Wooseok on it to check the accounts of Jong and also Commissioner Tore. And he found something very quickly. So we caught the first two. My father immediately sent two units to arrest them. But also the other officials who are on the list will be checked and if they find evidence, they will be arrested.

After talking to my dad, I called Zhan and asked, "Why did you give me this list? I mean, I'm grateful to you for it, but why? He's your brother after all."

"As I told you before, my brothers are planning something. I have to stop them before they can hurt my father. So I have to take away all his little bonded soldiers in higher or important positions, so as a first step. Because as I also said, you don't want my siblings to take over the control." Explained Zhan to me.

"I understand. My father is taking care of that right now."

"That's very good."

"Um Zhan, if you want to give me something again, you can do it personally."

"Why? Are you missing me already? Right now, I'm afraid I don't have time. I won't be back for about a month. You'll have to be patient until then." As if he could read minds.

"So I just wanted to tell you." I lied. A month he'll be gone? Oh man, you're kidding me, right?

"All right then. I have to go now, my plane is about to leave. I'll see you in a month then."

"Mhm, see you soon." I said and ended the conversation.

Seungyoun stared at me and asked, "I guess you didn't have just one night with him huh? And from the look on your face right now, I guess he doesn't have time for you for now."

"I, well, um. We had two nights."

"I knew it. Just don't let your dad find out."

"If you don't tell him, he won't know."

"But do you actually think it's a good idea to keep going to bed with him when he's our enemy?"

"I know what you mean, and I keep telling myself that he's our enemy. But I just can't resist him. Whenever I see him, I can' think of anything but the one thing."

"Oh heavens. He must have insane qualities in bed if you're so into him."

"Not only that. He's insanely smart, charming, and really cute. And I thought he was really hot from the first time I saw him. But since I know he's one of the bad guys, I find him even more attractive. It's like the forbidden fruit. I just can't get enough of him."

"Be careful not to lose your heart to him, too. Because it almost sounds like you're totally into him and about to fall in love with him."

"Don't worry. He clearly told me not to fall in love with him because we couldn't be together. Besides, I'm into having sex with him and don't plan on dating him."

"Yibo, your gaze speaks more than a thousand words. We've both known each other for so long now, so I know exactly how you tick. And I'm telling you, if you keep seeing him and you keep ending up in bed with him, you're going to develop deep feelings for him."

"I have no intention of ending up in bed with him over and over again. And I'm certainly not developing feelings for him."

"So many have said that before, and then what happened? Just be careful and try to only meet him in public places now."

"Yeah well okay." I replied grumpily. I know that Seungyoun is right. And that's what's bugging me.

Now that Seungyoun is working with me, we left for the late shift together. Chief Inspector Miles was already waiting for us in front of the entrance door to the police station. He did not give Seungyoun a glance. Instead, he pulled me aside and told me that Commissioner Tore of Team 1 had been arrested half an hour ago.

"It was some agents in fancy suits. They came in here, handcuffed Commissioner Tore, read him his rights, and then took him to a black SUV with tinted windows. I think they're some kind of secret agents." Said Miles.

"Secret agents? Wow, I would have loved to have seen that. Too bad I wasn't there." I replied with fake disappointment.

"I have an idea. Come on inside and we'll watch the surveillance video. There we'll see them come in and arrest him." Miles suggested to me happily.

I nodded and asked him what was happening now with the new police assistant. Miles wanted to know if I thought he was trustworthy and I said, "Absolutely. We live together. And if there was anything, I'd know."

"All right, then he can come with us." He said.

Honestly, I felt like I was talking to a complete nutcase who had lost all grip on reality. Miles was acting really weird. Like a child or teenager who hears the sirens of a police car or fire truck and excitedly runs to see what happened. I wonder if his head wound might be having an effect on his mind.

Arriving in the surveillance room, I saw that, in fact, only the office is equipped with surveillance cameras. But not good, because there are many blind spots there. And I suspect everyone here in the police department knows that.

Miles played the video of the arrest, once, a second time, and a third time. And each time, he laughed like a madman. I don't know, but, he's weird. It's like he's losing his mind. That's not normal.

Since we could not be sent to missions as an incomplete team, we stayed back in the office and thus had time to hear many rumors from and about colleagues. Since the arrest of Commissioner Tore, everyone is in an agitation and speculating who else is getting bribes. Everyone suspects everyone. It's a madhouse!

Miles sat in front of his computer most of the time. He got the surveillance video and watched it on continuous loop. Seungyoun asked me if we shouldn't better talk to the captain to tell him to send Miles home. But I shook my head. "The captain doesn't want to be disturbed." I explained to him.

When Don Miles came with the mail and was about to hand it to his father, it fell to the floor. Chief Superintendent Miles stood up abruptly and yelled, "Can't you even give me the mail properly?" We all winced in shock.

And then Chief Commissioner Miles just fell over. He was lying on the floor, not moving. Seungyoun and I immediately checked his vital signs. But there was nothing there. We started CPR while Don called an ambulance. But when it arrived, it couldn't do anything either.

The doctor who was there said he told Miles yesterday not to go to work because he had a blood clot in his head and it was dangerous. Because if it burst, it would mean his death. And that's probably what happened. When Miles stood up and screamed, the clot probably burst and Miles died.

Everyone had been shocked. And even the captain came out of his office and stayed sitting with all of us. Don was so upset that the doctor had to give him a syringe as a sedative. They then took Don to the hospital. We all spent the rest of the day in silence in the office.

Just before closing time, one of the officers from Team 2 went to get a bottle of liquor from the store around the corner. He poured everyone a small shot in a paper cup and we toasted Miles. No one liked him, but everyone at least seemed to respect him.

The captain then gave Seungyoun and me a week off, because we are now missing a team leader and the other men are still in the hospital. I want to visit them all tomorrow. Well, the captain said we should be back in a week and then we will find out what happens next.

Neither Seungyoun nor I agreed and would have gone to the other two teams, after all he and I are in an ongoing investigation. But the captain was against it.

For some reason unknown to me, I wrote Zhan the news about the sudden death of my team leader and the circumstances of how it happened. He called me and we talked for a while about Chief Commissioner Miles, how much I hated him and how unfortunate I thought it was now that he finally accepted me that he died.

I also complained again about the circumstances under which I have to work there. It just upsets me that this is a police station and even pigs have a cleaner barn. And I'm sure it doesn't even smell nearly as bad in a pigsty as it does in our police station's entryway.

Even though Zhan didn't say much and mostly just listened to me, it did me good. I was glad that Seungyoun called the agency so I had time to talk to Zhan. Zhan even offered to book me a plane ticket so I could come to him. But I refused. Because I had to think again about the conversation with Seungyoun from this morning. Otherwise, I would have really gone to see him.
