Episode 31
Sakina awoke early the next morning and continued to hold the icepack against her bruised and swelled chin and forehead.
It was two in the morning and the bruises weren't looking any better.
"I might have to miss school today," She murmured, sighing heavily. To comfort herself, Sakina entered the kitchen and proceeded to eat Ramen.
As she slurped her ramen, She realized that today was friday, the day She was suppose to start filming the production.
"Aww! I'll be behind on the schedule!" She whined.
"No! I can't afford to be behind! I'll just have to deal with it!" Sakina said to herself, finishing her ramen.
Sakina got up from the table and made her way to the bathroom.
When it was time to head to school, Sakina had gotten ready and did her best to hide the bruises with make-up.
Sakina was alone in her house. Sakura, having been guilt ridden slept at her own house.
Sakina sighed and left the house headed to school. As she walked to school, She spotted Tezuka walking a few feet in front of her.
"Ah, Tezuka! Wait up!" Sakina yelled, running to catch up to him.
Sakina fell in step with Him as they walked in silence.
"Would you like a part in my production?" She asked, looking up at him.
Tezuka seemed to be deep in thought and as Sakina stared up at him, she couldn't keep her rebellious feelings aside. In a flash, she has removed Tezuka's glasses and had run ahead as she peered into them.
"So cool," she murmured before turning around and walking backwards as she slipped the glasses onto her nose.
"Hey Tezu-kun how do I look?" she asked, doing a quick pose.
Tezuka blinked rapidly, too shocked for words. His eyes narrowed and he said darkly, "Give me back my glasses."
Sensing the danger she was in, Sakina gulped before turning around and running as fast as she could.
Sakina could hear Tezuka chasing after her and looked back.
"Even without his glasses, Tezuka sure is fast!" She said, smiling to herself.
Sakina was so wrapped up in looking behind herself that she didn't notice until it was too late that someone was walking in front of her.
Sakina crashed into them and fell down.
The cracking of glass was heard and Sakina sat up.
"I-I'm so sorry! Inui, your glasses!"
Inui sat up and held his broken glasses in his hand. "It's fine, I carry extras," he responded, pulling out a fresh pair.
Sakina sighed until she glanced under herself. Tezuka's glasses...were broken as well.
She could sense the dark aura behind herself as she turned and wordlessly handed him his broken glasses.
"Hey, Saki! What's up!" Momo called out, his hand in the air until he caught sight of the scene.
Taking a que, he silently walked into the school.
Sakina fidgeted under Tezuka's intense glare. "Sakina..." He murmured, his words laced with venom, "One hundred laps during practice."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sakina huffed and gasped as she ran her sixtieth lap. She silently cursed herself for breaking Tezuka's glasses, but every time she glanced back at him without his glasses she couldn't help but think it was worth it.
Sakina continued to run at a slower pace until she was jogging more than running.
Sakina closed her eyes and thought back to the rare times when she has visited Aomine at Teiko middle school.
He had almost always been ordered by Akashi to run laps during practice and he acted as if it was no big deal, even when he was ordered to run three hundred laps for skipping practice one time.
Sakina opened her eyes and quickened her pace. "If Onii-san can run three hundred laps then I can run one hundred," she murmured.
By the time Sakina had finished her hundred laps, she had collapsed onto the grass, breathing heavily, drenched in her sweat.
She stared up at the bright blue sky when a racquet was thrust into her face.
"Come on, it's time to practice tennis," Ryoma said.
Sakina sat up and wiped her forehead before standing up. "Let's practice!"
She grabbed her own Racquet and got in position in the tennis court.
Sakina could feel deep inside of herself, a feeling unlike any she had ever experienced before. A desperation to win.
As Sakina barely returned a shot to Ryoma who easily returned hers, a thought kept returning in her head.
Let's show Them how strong you really are! Let's play to Win!
Sakina couldn't keep that feeling down. A burning sensation went throughout her body and memories of previous plays clouded her consciousness.
She wasn't aware of what she was doing until she snapped herself out of whatever trance she was in. As she wiped away her sweat, she could see Ryoma smiling lightly and twirling his racquet in his hand until he switched it over to his left hand.
"Eh? You can use your left hand?!" Sakina exclaimed and Ryoma nodded.
"I thought tennis players had to play right handed!" She yelled, smacking herself on the forehead.
Ryoma watched her curiously, "Why did you think that?"
"Well everyone here plays right handed so I thought all tennis players had to. I'm such an idiot," she said.
"Now that you mention it Sakina, I thought it was odd in class when you would write. You're a lefty aren't you?" Inui inquired.
Sakina looked away in embarrassment.
"No way! Saki's a lefty? No wonder her wrist movement's were always off," Momo said.
Sakina said nothing as her cheeks flared up. She caught sight of Sakura walking alone and waved to her.
Sakura waved back and made her way to Sakina.
"Sakina," Sakura began, "I have some bad news..."
Sakina's heart began to beat rapidly. "W-what bad news?"
"The scripts...are ruined."
Sakina's eyes widened and her mouth dropped.
"First of all, it isn't my fault." Sakura said quickly, hands raised. "But Kuroko and Kagami came over to wait for you and I told them about the movie. I brought out the scripts for them to read and went to change my clothes. When I came back, Kuroko's dog had ripped the scripts to shreds. I tried patching them up but it wouldn't work. I'm sorry."
Sakura hung her head in shame.
Sakina sighed and rubbed her forehead. "I was really looking forward to making the movie..."
Sakina proceeded to tell the news to everyone before she followed Sakura back home.
Sakina saw the looks of shame on Kuroko and Kagami's faces as they hung their heads.
Sakina glanced down at Tetsuya #2 who was wrapped in a circle with his paw over his nose.
"It's okay, I know you didn't mean it," Sakina said, getting down and rubbing the dog's head.
She stood up and sighed heavily. "Is there something you guys need?" she questioned.
Kuroko nudged Kagami who began to speak, "W-we wanted to come and tell you that we'll be cheering you on during your upcoming tennis competition. We know you'll do your best."
"Thanks, you guy's support will be good motivation. I'll definitely do my very best!" Sakina said.
After Kuroko and Kagami left, Sakina sighed heavily and sat down on the couch and grabbed her cellphone and headphones.
She put on a song and sat back as she listened to it with her eyes closed.
Sakura sat beside her and peered over at the song. "Wow, Love letter? You're listening to a song called Love letter?"
Sakina opened her eyes and removed one ear bud. "What?"
After Sakura repeated what she said, Sakina pushed her off the couch. "Love letter by Vixx is so pretty. I found it while watching an amv one day. Just shush it. I don't criticize your taste in Starish!"
Sakura gasped loudly. "Don't insult Starish! Their fangirls will kill you!"
"FYI, the Starish members are all gay for each other." Nina said, having eavesdropped on the last bit of the conversation.
Another gasp from Sakura.
"What?" Nina questioned. "I just don't ship any of them with that girl. She's as useful as a cactus plant."
"Lalalala, I'm not listening to you!" Sakura said, clamping her ears and walking out.
Sakina sighed and shook her head before glancing at her phone and checking the time.
"Hey! Sakura! Kuroshitsuji is on!" She yelled, turning on the television.
The opening theme music filled the entire room and Sakura came rushing back into the room and jumped over the couch plopping down beside Sakina.
"Kyaa! Sebas-chan!" Sakura squealed, clamping her hands together and leaning forward.
"You know, Sebastian x Ciel is a thing, right?" Nina commented, as she walked out.
"Bfotjxhzmsjzijx!!!!!" Sakura screamed, right as the theme ended and she was forced to be quiet and pay attention to the show.
