CH. 14 (Edmund's POV)
"Are you sure you're 18?" The officer asked.
"Why, do I look older?" I handed the man my fake ID. "Alberta Scrubb?" He asked doubtfully. "It's supposed to be Albert A. Scrubb."
"Edmund,"
I turned around with shock. "You're supposed to be helping me with the groceries." Lucy said, I mentally face palmed. The man behind me laughed and the officer gave me back the fake ID. "Better luck next time, ey, squirt?" The man laughed as he ruffled my hair, Lucy and I walked out of the building.
"Squirt?!" I exclaimed annoyingly. "He barely had two years on me! I'm a king! I fought wars and I've lead armies!" I complained as I secured the box of groceries on Lucy's bike. "But not in this world, Ed." Lucy said. "Yeah, instead I'm stuck here. Doing a battle with Eustace Clarence Scrubb." As I continued on with my rambling Lucy's eyes wandered somewhere else, something seemed to flatter her. She tucked some hair behind her ear and continued to stare at something. "What are you doing?" I asked, my question seemed to snap Lucy back to reality.
"Nothing..." She answered, she grabbed her bike and started walking off. "C'mon then!" She got on her bike and started riding on a slow and steady speed as I walked next to her. "Can we make one more stop?" I asked. "Sure." We stopped by a jewelry shop, I checked my wallet to make sure that I took all my money with me. "What are we doing here?" Lucy asked. "It's for someone special." I answered. "Aurora?" I paused and looked back at Lucy. "Don't tell her."
"I won't."
_____________
I was feeling proud of my gift, it wasn't expensive but it wasn't cheap either. I've gotten Aurora a promise ring that had the words "Till We Meet Again" carved inside of it.
We soon arrived back at Aunt Alberta's house, with Eustace nowhere to be seen. "We're home!" Lucy exclaimed, Lucy placed the groceries away and asked our Uncle some questions which he seemed to ignore from behind his newspaper. I mockingly swayed my head and stuck my tongue out to him, I didn't like him yet he never seemed to like me either. "Father, Edmund's making faces at you!" I turned to the top of the stairs and saw my annoying cousin, Eustace Scrubb. He placed a straw in his mouth and spat something at my neck. "Agh! Why you little-!" "Father, he's gonna hit me!"
Before I could even lay a finger on my cousin Lucy came running in with a letter. "Edmund, look it's from Susan!"
Lucy and I read the letter in her room, Susan told us that we'd have to stay here for a few more days. I sighed at the news, this means more trouble with Eustace. I laid on Lucy's bed feeling hopeless and disappointed, all I wanted to do is find a random way to get back to Narnia and be with Aurora. I looked over at the painting of the sea near the bed and noticed something strange. "Lucy, have you seen that ship before?" Lucy looked away from the mirror and back to the painting. "Yes, it's very Narnian looking, isn't it?" We both walked up to the painting and stared at the painting. "Yeah, it's just another reminder that we're here and not there."
"There once was two orphans, who wasted their time, believing in Narnian nursery rhyme." Eustace said as he ente- intruded the bedroom, we decided to ignore him and admire the painting. "It's like fascinating that picture anyway, it's hideous." We ignored him again. "Edmund, it looks like the water is actually moving." Lucy said in a dazed tone. "What rubbish!"
I was really getting pissed off, he was my only cousin...
Such a disgrace...
