SKYE'S POV

I ran through the streets away from the school, and it was getting to be much later than I expected; almost 7 o'clock. The run to my house was much longer than I thought. Either that, or...wait. I'm lost. Oh heck no! I can't be lost! Well actually I can, since I have no idea where I am and how to get to my house. I guess it's not a great idea to look at your phone while running.

"Crap!" I yelled as a car drove past me.

"Skye?" Ben Calloway (the hot brainy guy that I mentioned earlier) pulls up next to me in his pickup truck. "Why are you out here? This is a dangerous neighborhood."

"Question is, why are you here?" I counter with a raised eyebrow.

"No reason," He replies smoothly, yet mysteriously. "So are you going to answer my question?"

"I guess the answer would have to be...hmm, no reason." I smirk and answer the same way he did.

He rolls his eyes. "But seriously, do you need a ride?"

"No, thanks." I say. "I'm pretty sure I know my way home."

"Then tell me," Ben says. "Why are you over here when your house is on the entire other side of town?"

"I just wanted to take a tour of the town." I say, pushing him away even though I obviously needed help.

"Okay," He says. "I'll just slowly drive away until you come to your senses." And, with that, he pulls away from the curb and starts to drive down the road at a snail's pace. I turn around to see if there's any traffic behind us. I spot a familiar car speeding down the road.

"WAIT!" I yell at Ben and sprint to his car. "I decided I need a ride."

He grins. "I totally called it."

"Just let me in the dang car." I climb in once he unlocks the doors.
