"So, what was that all about?" Ben asks me after an awkward silence in the car.

"Nothing." I say.

"Okay, really?" He asks. "It can't have been nothing. First you were ignoring my gentlemanly offers of help and being chill, and then suddenly you turn into a damsel in distress."

"Fine." I give in and tell him about Holden. The whole truth. Even the past that he doesn't remember. He doesn't remember it, but I do. Crystal clear. And nothing, nothing, will ever make me hate him any less.

"Wow. Okay. That's pretty intense. I see now why you hate him so much. He doesn't even have a legitimate reason to hate you right now. He probably just has a crush on you." Ben states.

"Oh, god no." I gag.

"Come on, you basically are this high school's 'it girl'."

"Who even says 'it girl' anymore?"

"It looks like I do." Ben gives me his signature lopsided grin.

"This is me." I say as we pull up by the front of my house.

"Okay," He pulls the car to a stop. "Tutoring tomorrow, 4:30. Meet me at the coffee shop on Main Street."

"Bye." I give a wave and a small smile. God, he's so hot.
