SKYE'S POV

I can't wait to get out of school. Soccer just helps me get my mind off of this crappy place that is... well, school. Sure, the soccer team I play for is for the school, but at least at soccer I don't have to learn stuff like math...ew.

Let's just say I'm not the best student. Don't even try to talk to me about a Quadratic formula or anything of that nature. I will literally cover my ears and drown you out with my terrible singing like a five year old. I'm just warning you in advance.

"Miss Johnson, would you care to join the rest of the class in our lesson?" My Social Studies teacher, Mr.Bass asks. He's my least favorite. Just saying.

"You wish." I reply, and my best friend, Ellie, quietly snickers next to me.

"You would think that after looking at your grades for the past 3 years of high school, you'd be putting some more effort into your senior year." He remarks.

He. Did. Not.

"Excuse you," I reply, pushing back my chair and standing up. "But you should not be talking about my business like that." I'm not trying to play the whole 'my mom's the principal' thing, but it does come in handy sometimes, I'm not gonna lie.

"Miss Johnson!" He gasps. "Where are your manners?"

"Well, they would be with your heart...if you possessed one." I retort. I knew I was pushing it but frankly, I didn't care.

"JOHNSON! OUT! NOW" He shouts at me, and I skip out of the classroom, and don't bother waiting for the lecture from my mom that's sure to come later. Instead I walk to the girls locker room. I grab my clothes and get ready for practice. Thank goodness Mr.Bass' class was the last class of the day.

At my school we have a coed soccer team. You have to be really good to make it. Only the best of the best. Not to be cocky or anything but I've been playing since I was 3, and have grown confident about my abilities since then.

At exactly 2:15, the bell rings, and the rest of the girls stream into the locker room. And you know what comes with a pack of teenage girls? Gossip.

"OMG!" Alexis, a brunette to my right yells, getting everyone's attention. "I heard we're getting a new player today to replace Joseph!" She squealed. Joseph was our centerfield, and he had broken his ankle screwing around with his friends, and now he couldn't play. So we needed someone to take his place.

"Do you know who it is?" I ask her, extremely curious, they don't let just anyone on our team.

"Not a clue," She replies. Well, there's only one way to find out.

*****************************

We walk onto the field and I notice the new guy immediately. While the rest of our guys have lighter hair, his is a dark brown. Which kind of makes him stick out. His eyes are a soft brown.

"This," Coach Nick announces. "Is Holden Jones."
