Chapter Eight || Truce...For Now
SKYE'S POV
I unlock the door and throw down my keys, I hate coming home to an empty house. My mom is at school, as usual, and my dad is out coaching his soccer team, like he does every. single. day. I make some grilled cheese and just watch some Netflix. Right now I'm knee deep in Grey's Anatomy. Food and Netflix usually gets my mind off of things but today feels different. Different from my normal routine.
Because I can't seem to get my mind off of Ben. He always seemed to be there when I needed him. Honestly, I've always been friends with guys but I've never really felt like this before. And then there's Holden. I feel kind of bad for locking him out but at the same time he deserved it for ketchup-bombing my soccer bag.
I decide to leave this big, important questions for tomorrow, besides Meredith and Derrick, the cutest couple on Grey's Anatomy in my opinion are on. I hear my Mom finally come in and I run down to talk to her.
"Oh Skye, it's so good to see you, how was practice?" She asks with grin on her face.
Uh oh...she only asks about practice to butter me up before she drops a bomb on me.
"Um it was good, I had some good blocks, and guess what?" I ask her.
"I got an 87 on that Spanish test and I'm going to tutoring tomorrow." I say before she can guess. I want her to think I'm putting in an effort.
"Good Skye that's what you need to do to get into a good college!" She informs me.
"Now, I need you to come with me to the PTA board dinner this Saturday." That's what she wants.
"It's a formal dinner," She adds. Ugh, she knows I hate fancy stuff but she's forever forcing me to do things like this. But I need to be in her good graces, just in case this whole Holden thing comes back at me.
"Sure, I'll be there." I say and march up the stairs, defeated. I flop down and go under my squishy blankets.
HOLDEN'S POV
I woke up, dreading school. But hey, at least it's an A day so I don't have Spanish with Skye. I grab my soccer bag and get in my car. It's a breezy October morning but it's especially cold in my car because of my duct tape window. Darn it I have soccer practice today. Trust me, that's not something I'm used to thinking.
It was a pretty bland day but it's finally time for practice. I have a plan. After we change, we go to the weight room for strength training. Skye and I are assigned to the bench press first. Ok just tell her, stop being awkward, you can do this.
"Ok so let's just end this war. Is it a truce?" I ask meekly afraid of her response.
"Fine, truce." She groans.
Wow I was not expecting that, but I'll just go with it.
"Friends?" I ask and stick out my hand.
"Don't get ahead of yourself," She rolls her eyes and lifts the huge weight.
A/N: I know this is super short but it's all we got right now. We'll try to make the next chapter really long. So this is going to be dedicated to BeautifullyBookish for fangirling over this book when nobody else would lol :) thanks for the support!
