If honesty should be practiced at this moment, Jungkook had to admit that he doubted his decision. He doubted every single time he thought of what he did but then, it was probably the best decision to choose. Staying in a relationship with someone who didn't appreciate him a single bit would make him a total idiot and before he could get dumped like before, he made the first move to choose that option.
If others could move on so easily, he doubted he wouldn't be able to do the same. He was not sure if he would be able to move on in a day or two but he would definitely forget about Chaeyoung and start anew. If he could move on from the ex-girlfriend before Chaeyoung, then for sure, he wouldn't have any problem of moving on from Park Chaeyoung.
So far, it had been a week since he had last spoken with her. It had been a week since they had gone their separate ways. He still saw her once or twice coming to his workplace to meet with his boss regarding her work but none of those times had he seen her glancing at his area like she used to. And within the whole week, never had he stumbled upon her anywhere in the building they were both living in.
Good, he thought. It made everything easier for the both of them.
The sound and visual of fingers snapping just before his eyes made him shut both eyes in an instant, jerking his head backwards. With a heavy frown, he turned to the owner of the fingers who was standing beside him.
"The hell?" he muttered.
His colleague stared down at him with a flat expression before a sigh escaped the taller man, Yugyeom. "I've always known that you're not an excellent worker but spacing out was not your favorite habit."
Jungkook took a deep breath and sighed as he straightened himself on the chair he was sitting on. "I wasn't spacing out."
"Yeah, yeah. Bang Sihyuk was yelling at you and threw you this and you gave no reaction at all. Be glad that he didn't care much for your attention but I actually expected you to give at least a slight reaction when he threw your girlfriend's file filled with her designs on your desk like it's a trash."
Jungkook averted his eyes from his colleague to Chaeyoung's file, hand automatically touching it and flipping every page. He felt a little furious at the thought of it being thrown like a trash. She worked so hard in every design and although none of these designs were used for the office, still, what was Bang Sihyuk thinking tossing it like that? Bang Sihyuk could be rude to him but there was no way he was letting his girlfriend be treated that way.
Girlfriend?
Jungkook swallowed hard as the reality hit. Park Chaeyoung was now holding the 'ex-girlfriend' label, no longer was she his girlfriend. And since it was that way, he shouldn't care much about how his rude boss treated her.
"What's this doing on my desk?" he asked, flipping it close and pushing it aside like it was dirty.
Yugyeom was silent for a few seconds, probably noticing how Jungkook suddenly acted. "Boss said she left it yesterday when she was in a rush. So he asked you to pass it to her." Yugyeom took the file into his hand as he leaned slightly against the cubicle. "Wow, her designs are pretty great. I should hire her to design my family's house."
Jungkook's brows twitched as he fixed his gaze on the computer screen. Without realizing, his hand lifted from the mouse he was holding, snatching the file from the other male's hand. "Don't even think about it."

The history repeated again.
Now that Chaeyoung was single, there was exactly nothing that could rid the lonely feeling she was having. Even drawing felt so forced when she attempted to do something with her pencil and paper. Eventually, she chose to sit on the sofa and stare at whatever that was playing on the television. As if the whole world knew that she was single, almost every channel she frequented displayed either a loving couple or a couple in the midst of having the relationship falling apart, further reminding her of her own breakup.
Did her ex feel this way when she dumped him? Was breakup always this painful?
The very first few days of when she started her relationship with Jungkook, the thought of how quick they were to jump into relationship occasionally slipped into her mind and when she thought of that, she would also have the thought of how she would handle possible breakups with him.
It wasn't that she didn't want to be with him, but at times, it made her feel like everything was rushed, and that the possibility of them not being together due to that reason was there. Although some people managed to have longer relationship with that kind of start, Chaeyoung didn't think she would be one of those people.
Now that this happened, she proved herself right. That she was never one of those people who would suit to be in a rushed relationship.
She thought it would at least be easy to move on from a breakup between her and Jungkook, no matter who dumped who but never had she expected to be this upset and heartbroken. Perhaps, this was the only thing she wasn't able to prove to herself right.
What was about Jungkook anyway that made her this pathetic?
Sure, she didn't act like those characters in movies when breakups happen. No boxes of tissues around, not a single used tissue on the floor, she wasn't eating ice cream while crying pathetically, her hair wasn't a mess, her house was still neat, she didn't have any dirty dishes and she had done all her laundries. Of course, she did let her tears fall at night and her pillows would be used to wipe her eyes, but never had she cried as if she was mourning for someone's death.
But still, she was broken inside. Sometimes Jungkook's last words to her lingered in her mind, and at times, she would feel as if she would die from holding in the pain. Perhaps she was supposed to cry out loud, as if the world was ending, but then it was difficult for any loud sound to escape her.
She wanted to defend herself but she was totally drunk and she couldn't even remember whose lips she had kissed. If they were Jungkook's, there was no way he would be pissed. There was exactly no way he would be so mean to her. That damn stranger was the main reason why everything fell apart and if only she could turn back the time, she would listen to Jennie. Hell, she wouldn't even stay in the club and follow her friend instead. Things wouldn't be the way they were right now.
She would still have the chance to be with Jungkook.
Chaeyoung let out a heavy sigh and closed her eyes, tilting her head back before her phone buzzed on her side. It was Jennie asking her if she wanted to hang out and although that was a best idea to get rid of Jungkook from her already chaotic mind, Chaeyoung wasn't sure why her thumb pressed 'Back' instead of sending her friend a reply, ignoring the invite.
Not long after, there was someone pressing the doorbell and she thought of how she should change back the password to her birthday, so Jennie could just walk in without her needing to open the door for her. Now that Jungkook was no longer her boyfriend, there was no reason for the password to be his date of birth.
Lazily, she walked up to the door and opened it without glancing at the person on the outside at all. She turned around to walk back to the sofa and asked with a low voice, "Where's Namjoon?"
Instead of Jennie's voice, a male voice answered her, "I have no idea."
Chaeyoung stopped walking and turned around immediately. Her eyes widened at the sight of the male smiling at her as he stayed rooted on the front door. His hands that were on his side now crossed over his chest as he leaned on the door frame for a moment, his smile widening on his face.
"Hey," he greeted her and Chaeyoung only blinked in response.
She looked at him from head to toe. How long had it been? It hadn't been ten years nor had it been five. But it felt as if it had been forever since she had last seen this man. Standing outside her door was the male who she once thought was the one for her, who was hers for as long as she could remember until she found out that he wasn't hers alone, and whom she had thrown away from her heart –completely –when she met Jungkook.
The ex-boyfriend of her before she started dating Jungkook, still handsome as ever, Kim Taehyung was smiling down at her with a warm smile that once melted her. She swallowed as her brows furrowed deeply. "What are you doing here?"
Taehyung didn't lose the smile as he shoved both hands into the pockets of his pants. "I wanted to see you."
"How do you know I live here?"
Taehyung took a deep breath and responded with a lift of his brow, "My heart tells me so?"
The confusion she had a moment ago now faded as annoyance conquered. She had no time to joke around when all she wanted right at that moment was to be alone, and to have this man suddenly show up in front of her just after her breakup, it suddenly made her feel angry for all sorts of things.
It made her feel angry for what he did to her before, it made her feel angry at herself for what she did to Jungkook and it made her feel angry to Jungkook for not giving her any room of chances for any explanation and to defend herself.
"Leave, Taehyung," she muttered lowly, hand was quick to push the door forward to close on him but he was quicker when he pushed it back with his palm.
"Come on, babe –"
Chaeyoung knitted her brows in annoyance and scoffed lightly. "I stopped being your babe long time ago, so stop calling me that."
"Alright, Chaeyoung. Come on. I missed you."
Chaeyoung stared at him flatly before she let out a tiny snort. "Oh, please."
Taehyung calmly breathed in in front of her, not budging a little. "And I know you missed me too. Perhaps, more than we both can imagine."
"Excuse me?" she chuckled insincerely. "Why would I miss you?" Before Taehyung could answer that question, she quickly said, "Look. I don't know how the heck you know where I live. I don't like the fact that you know about this place. But you're lucky that I am in no mood to fight you so please just go. Go before I call the security."
"I begged Namjoon to tell me where you live because I missed you. I really missed you. I just... I wanted to see you again."
"Okay, well now you have seen me. It should be enough so, I beg you to leave."
"Chaeyoung."
Taehyung was still the stubborn man he was in the past and that trait of him was just giving him bad luck because he couldn't just understand that she didn't want to see anyone at all. Perhaps she would be able to communicate better with any person she knew after a few more days but right now was just not the right moment.
When he insisted by calling her name a few more times while trying to step inside, she felt as if there was a demon in her who controlled her body that she managed to push him single handedly that he stumbled backwards a little. Nevertheless it didn't stop him from trying to block her from closing the door again.
"For the millionth time, leave!" she yelled and swung the door roughly. She expected for her door to give a loud bang that would make her heart shudder inside of her but instead of that, a loud yelp was heard that was coming from Taehyung.
When she turned around, the door wasn't closed and all she could see next was Taehyung holding his hand as he yelled more 'Ow's and cursed out loud in the hallway.
*
Jungkook sat in his car long, fingers tapping on the steering wheel as he stared at nothing. He turned his head to the passenger's seat and sighed. Chaeyoung's file was resting calmly on it and he stared at the food he bought.
Why did he even buy two sets of the food? What was he thinking? Did he forget that they had gone their separate ways? Did he forget his own vow to himself that he should avoid her at all cost except for times when it was needed to interact with her? All he needed to do was just pass her the file and not have a dinner with her.
Minutes passed and when Jungkook finally realized how he had wasted more time staring, eventually he brought the food with him and decided to just eat both and only after eating would he go to pass her the file she left in the office.
While he was on his way up in the building, he partially hoped to stumble into her so he wouldn't have to go to her house but then he was unsure why there was that part of him that wanted to check on her.
It was only a floor left to reach the floor he was staying in that he suddenly pushed the button after his, the button leading to the floor where she was. Jungkook kept telling himself that he was doing that so that he didn't need to go out at night just to pass her that damn file and he convinced himself that that was the sole reason why he felt the rush and the need to go to her house at that moment.
He had thought of what approach should he use. Should he call her and tell her to open the door? Should he ring the doorbell and wait for her? Should he put the file on the floor and send her a text to inform her about it? Or should he leave it there and ring the doorbell?
None of those mattered when the door opened before an action from him was required. The figure he saw before his eyes wasn't the one he expected to see.

"Who told you to put your hand there? Look what happened," Chaeyoung nagged softly as she was tending Taehyung's injury.
Taehyung was silent for quite a while before he suddenly said, "I missed this."
She stopped all her movements and thought of what he said. Lifting her head to face him, her brows slightly furrowed when she noticed that he was staring at her warmly. She didn't know if it was because of his injured hand that he wasn't in his playful mode or he was actually really serious about anything said or was about to be said by him.
Exhaling softly, Chaeyoung looked away and said, "What do you mean by that? I never slammed the door on your hand before. This was a first."
Taehyung chuckled softly and shifted a bit closer to her that his thigh and her leg were touching. With his low voice, he responded, "I mean, I missed you caring for me."
There was no need for her to respond to that and so she didn't. Besides, she really had no idea how to give a reply for that statement. If he expected her to melt away from that, then he was wrong because all she could feel for him was sorry. She was sorry that she almost broke his fingers and her mind was also occupied with someone else that she had no time to even think of that possibly sweet moment.
"I missed you," he muttered after she gave a long silence as a respond.
"How did you know where I live?" she asked quick, eyes not leaving his fingers.
Taehyung sighed out loud, his head hung low for a bit before he asked, "You're still not done with that question?"
"Have you been stalking me?"
He blinked and laughed. It started slowly before his laughter got louder. "Babe, as much as I love you, I don't have time to do all the stalking."
Although that might be embarrassing to hear, but to her, it came out a little funny that a smile was threatening to decorate the face of hers that hadn't had any smile for days. The thing she had with Taehyung was all in the past and although she still hated how she was cheated by him, it didn't mean that he didn't deserve to get a little smile at all for that. Not holding back, she let her lips stretched into a small smile before she chuckled softly.
When she chuckled and let the smile linger, Taehyung's laughter followed suit before it ceased and her smile slowly faded the moment she felt his thumb stroking her cheek. She turned her head away and warned him softly with a call of his name but it didn't stop him. He went from subtle touches to cupping her cheek fully, and that made her own hand pulled his away from her face.
"Taehyung." Chaeyoung held his hand for a moment before putting it away but he grabbed a hold of her hand instead, not letting it go.
"What's wrong?" he said in a voice above whisper.
"Don't do this."
"Why?"
She stared at him straight in his eyes. "Look. I know what you're trying to do. And I'm telling you now that it's too late to be doing this. Okay?"
There was silence that lasted longer than she had expected before he told her things that she wanted to hear from someone else.
"I want us to be together again."
Chaeyoung closed her eyes for a second, looking away as she felt her heart longing for that word to be uttered by Jungkook, and not Taehyung. But considering how things were at that moment, it was just impossible and it made her heart shattered even more.
"Well, I don't." She pushed her hair out of her face and tried so hard not to run to the balcony to shout at Jungkook that she was sorry for whatever she did wrong. That was how desperate she was at that time.
"You know, lying to yourself won't help," Taehyung said, leaning his back comfortably against the backrest while his arms were crossed over his chest as his head tilted back. He closed his eyes, taking in the air calmly as if he was meditating.
Chaeyoung was confused by what he said. What did he mean by that? Why did he say she was lying? What did she lie about? Was he referring to her feelings for him? What did he know about it? She knew herself that she no longer felt anything romantic towards him so what made him say that? Did she do anything to cause the words to fall out of his mouth?
"Just the other night you were begging for me to come back to you. I was so glad that it wasn't one-sided. But now you're making it seem as if I'm the only one who wants us to get back together."
The moment his reply was processed in her brain, she couldn't help but to bite on her lower lip as she thought of it again and again. And what came next made her heart stopped beating.
"We're both grown, so stop with the push and pull. I know, I know that you were drunk but I also know you. You won't do that to someone you don't know, or someone you really don't like even if you were drunk. That never happened before. So –"
"Do what?" she cut him midsentence even though she was sure she knew what he was saying.
Taehyung paused for a few seconds, slowly reaching for her hand before he responded, "You kissed me."
It felt like there was a terrible earthquake happening within her. Her insides boiled with anger, to herself mostly. The world she was living had already crumbled the moment Jungkook chose the breakup over her, but now it felt as though the world was being destroyed even more when she realized that she had kissed Taehyung, the ex-boyfriend whom had broken her trust. Of course, being kissed by any other man wouldn't be any better but right now when she thought over it, it was probably better if she didn't know whom had she kissed.
If Jungkook knew who this man was, he'd probably think that she had actually planned to get back with her ex when in fact, that was the last thing she would do.
"Get out." Her voice was shaky. She wanted to yell at him but it was probably the sob stuck at her throat preventing from belting out her anger on him. "I want you to leave."
Taehyung was stubborn, probably since he was born. For all the time she had known him, all the time she had spent on him, she knew that he was one of the most stubborn people she had ever met. But surprisingly, there was a tiny bit of miracle when he squeezed her hand lightly and stood up. He froze on that spot for a second or two before walking away, not saying anything as his steps getting farther away from her, closer to the main door.
She heard her door was opened but she didn't hear it closed. Slowly, she turned to look at where Taehyung was, still standing while his hand firmly holding the doorknob, staring at whatever it was that caught his attention outside the door.
She didn't want him there. She wanted to be alone and she wanted him to leave as soon as possible. She wanted to run to him and push him out of her house but it was as though her weight equaled the entire universe that it felt so heavy to even stand up.
Taehyung was silent the whole time he was standing there, pushing more questions into her head as to why he acted that way. If he wanted to say anything to her like most scenes in the movies she had watched, why couldn't he just say it? It wasn't as though she couldn't hear him with the distance between them when she initially was still sitting on the couch.
The closer she walked towards him, the more view she got of what had caught his attention that he hadn't budged a little from his spot. When she finally stood behind Taehyung, her breath had caught in her throat for a short moment when he saw Jungkook standing outside the door. His eyes were like fire as he kept his stare on Taehyung.
Just as she was about to cut the staring contest between the two men, Taehyung turned towards her and said with a calm voice, "I'll see you later," and stepped out of her house. He gave Jungkook a final deep look before turning away and walked casually like nothing happened without looking back.
When she turned to look at Jungkook, she didn't expect him to be looking at her deeply, staring into her eyes intently. He didn't say a word for a long time and she wanted so much to listen to his voice once again. Whatever reason he had to come to her place, to stand outside her door like this, with only a short distance separating them, she was thankful for that reason.
"Why –"
"You left this at my boss' office," he said quick, cutting her question. He shoved the file he was holding harshly towards her, and she quickly took it into her hand before it could fall to the floor. Jungkook didn't hesitate to turn away once he gave her the file, and her insides were screaming for her to grab his hand or his shirt just to make him stay for a while but she couldn't do any of those. Instead, she was left frozen as she watched him strode away as he pushed his silky hair aggressively to the back.
When Chaeyoung thought that that would be the last time he would ever say something to her, Jungkook surprised her when he suddenly made a U-turn as he stepped towards her with angry stomps of his feet against the floor. When he was closer, Jungkook had his finger pointed at her as he glared furiously at her.
"We just fucking broke up, and now you have him in your house. That's very quick of you. I should have known better."
Chaeyoung hugged the file close to her body as she tried to calm herself down because of Taehyung. If only he didn't show up today.
"Jungkook, listen –"
"So tell me, have you been seeing him while we were still together? Huh?" he asked with deeply furrowed brows as he breathed heavily.
"No!"
"No?"Jungkook scoffed loudly and smirked as he looked away. He pushed his tongue against the inside of his right cheek and she saw his fisted hand. "Bullshit, Chaeyoung. That's a total bullshit! It seems to me that you have known him and probably just waiting for us to split so that you could be with him. Am I right? It can't be possible for you to have him in your house if you have just met him in the club the other day."
All of these accusations that came to weigh on her made her want to scream so loud so that the world would stop. Coming from the mouth of someone she loved made it all so hurt that she thought it wasn't possible to even be cured of the pain. Jungkook now thought she was one of those people without loyalty in their system but that wasn't the truth.
The anger she felt for him came back alive, because he was not letting her defend herself. It needed to stop because even if she couldn't get back together with him, there was no way he should be left with an untrue fact to swallow for the rest of his life. Chaeyoung needed to clear her name of all these false accusations he had made or he was already thinking of.
Just like what she had expected, Jungkook turned on his heel again and tried to leave but she immediately pulled his sleeve. "You know nothing, Jungkook!"
Jungkook pulled his arm roughly to rid her hold of his sleeve. "I've seen everything that I need to know."
"Not everything that you have seen is what you thought it might be. You can't just judge things based on what you see with your eyes, especially if you don't have all your facts right."
He ignored her and continued to walk away and thankfully there was no one else in the hallway except for them, because she didn't think she wanted people to witness them two quarrelling like this.
"See? That is your problem, Jungkook. You never gave me the chance to explain! And whenever I do, you never want to listen."
He turned around abruptly, and she almost bumped into him as she was trailing behind him. "What is there to explain? Tell me! I saw with my own two eyes that you were kissing him in the club. And today, he just came out of your house. Do I need explanation on that? I don't think so."
Gritting her teeth, she glared into his eyes and yelled, "He's my ex!"
*
Jungkook slammed the door to his house and walked to the kitchen furiously. He tossed the food he bought onto the kitchen counter. They slid across the smooth surface, almost nearing the edge to fall to the floor.
He took a glass of water and drank it furiously, not everything safely made way into his mouth as they escaped through the corner of his mouth, sliding down his neck.
The only thing he wanted to do now was probably slap his face a thousand times.
How could he forget? How could he forget one thing she ever told him before about her ex?
"I hate how he cheated on me, wanted me to forgive him but at the same time, he still had that chick around him. After I broke up with him, he didn't stop. He followed me around and repeatedly told me how he still wanted to get back. But still, he was still loyal to that woman."
Why didn't he think of her ex when he saw that man? That was the thing about being angry; one just can't think straight and will always be blinded by what the eyes see first.
He wouldn't be able to forget how furious and how hurt Chaeyoung looked. He would feel the same way too if he was accused like how he did to her.
"He's my ex!" she yelled. When she stepped towards him, he stepped back a little upon seeing the anger evident on her face. "I didn't know I kissed him in the club! I was drunk! And I didn't know how the hell he knew where my house is. All I want is to avoid him. So why would I make out with him and why on earth would I tell him where I live when all I want is to avoid him! But of course! Of course, in your eyes, none of what I said is true. Because that's what you want to believe."
Chaeyoung took a deep breath when she turned around, she let them all out loudly as she stepped furiously towards the door to her house and the next sound that he heard was none other than the deafening sound of the door slammed shut.
His whole existence was restless all through the night as he thought of what could possibly happen right after this. If the return of her ex-boyfriend was to get her back and that he was no longer the same person he used to be, Jungkook couldn't see how it was impossible.
After all, nothing is impossible. Her change of heart would also be possible, and he couldn't blame her for that.
Nothing is impossible, his mind quietly repeated and he pondered upon it along with having Chaeyoung on his mind. Despite the decision he had taken before on ending the relationship, when he thought about what had just happened and after his brain processed the new information regarding the identity of that stranger, Jungkook couldn't help but feel angry at himself if and only if she would have her heart occupied by someone else.
