"What?"I couldn't believe what I hear so much so that I needed to hear it again

"Ypu heard me very well,you can finally go on the adventure you always wanted to go to"she said to me with a fake smile

On other occasions I would have been more than happy to the point where I would start jumping around like a little toddler

But now I could see that my mom would've still forbidden me to go if something didn't happen

"Mom,what happened?please tell me"i asked her

She looked down,she knew she couldn't fool me since I have a sharp eye for these things

I then noticed tears falling on her hands which were on her knees

"Mom,please you know I hate seeing you cry"i said

"I-it's just,the army came today,they were looking for men to hire,you noticed it didn't you?there were some who left,it's not so that they could call help for the ogre it's because they were forcibly sent away

I thought about it

If you go to the army you will become a pawn at the hands of the kings and goddesses and you will without a doubt end up dead

But if you left,you can be free,go wherever you want and do whatever you want and you've already proven to me that you can hold your own

I then went closer to her,and hugged her

"It's okay mom,I will become a hero and free our village from this hell

You know what?I'll start by conquering a dungeon and bring you guys a lot of money!!you won't even need to find a job!"I said to her with a cheerful smile

I smiled

"Of course!that griddy family would never give you a break and to see them giving you a vacation at a random time like this didn't make any sense!!WHICH IS WHY!!!I'LL BECOME THE STRONGEST!!RICHEST!!MOST RESPECTED HERO THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN!JUST YOU WAIT!!"I shouted with confidence

She then looked at me with a warm smile before she pulled me into a warm hug which might as well be my last from her

She then looked like she just realized something as she then got up

"Wait a second!!I can't let you leave like that!!"she said as she then ran to the drawer,she opened it and removed the clothes on the inside which revealed that there was a box underneath them

I always wondered what was inside that box,she then put her hand under her dress and pulled out a key which she used to open the box and pulled out something

That thing is a circular shield with three bumps on the center and on the sides,it looked like it could be opened or it was made out of gears

"Here take this"she said as she handed me the shield

"What's this?"I asked

"Something I found one day when I was sleeping,it was the day your grandparents were announced dead,I woke up in the morning to see it on the table,I was never cut out for battle so you should have it"she said

I looked at the shield as I placed it on my wrist and saw it fit me perfectly

I smiled

"Thanks mom,I'll make you proud"i said

"Trust me Y/n,I already am"she said as I then walked out to be greeted by my two teachers who were smiling

"I see you're departing now"said professor romani

I nodded

"Fool!!what kind of mongrel would leave without a suitable weapon?!at least take this with you"said gilgamesh as he reached his hand out from his back to pull out a small iron sword

"If you go with that shield alone you will be killed in an instant,take this,I never taught you how to use one but nothing's better than to learn while on the verge of death I say!!"said mr. Gil as he was already laughing

I smiled,I'm really going to miss them all

"Mr. Romani,can I entrust mom to you two?"I asked them

"Of course Y/n you can count on us"he said

"Who else will cook my food I not her?!AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"laughed mr. Gil

"Now y/n,it's time to go"said mom as I nodded and started to run for there is a new world calling for me
