"Come here and get our fruits!the best in the entire village!the juiciest there is!and for the affordable price of three copper coins!"I shouted inviting people to buy the fruits

"Thank you for your help Y/n,here's your payment,it's also time for you to go study am I right?"said the shopkeeper who handed me ten copper coins

"Thank you sir!if you need help again you know what to do!"I said as I ran to my house

My name is Y/n akemi!I'm fourteen years old and I live in a secluded village in the Malia,it's a fairly poor village because of the taxes that need to be played and things are seemingly getting worse because our country is entering a time of war,that's why  I'm working to earn ourselves some money

My mother also works,she's a maid to a rich family so she leaves early in the morning and comes back late at night so I have to take care of myself during that time

I was running while waving at the people I knew from the village as I was passing by until I reached my house,it was a wooden shack so old it's a miracle that it's still standing

I entered by the old door to be greeted by my house

An empty one leveled living space with a single knee leveled table and two very old cushions,then there were two mattresses and a small drawer

"I'm home!"I said as I went over to the drawer to put in the money I earned

Twenty copper coins,I think I can buy myself some bread with a little bit of butter

I put them in the drawer and took some pieces of paper and a pencil as I went out to go see my teachers

I was now running the green plains of our region as I was thinking to myself

'If only mom would let me go explore the world,I want to be a hero!'I thought to myself as I saw my two teachers sitting and talking to themselves under the tree shades

They both noticed me as professor romani greeted me

"Hi Y/n!it seems you had a bit of work to do right?"he said greeting me

Mr. Gil scoffed and smiled his usual arrogant smile

"To think that you haven't found yourself a suitable job,how will you do when you leave then?"asked mr. Gil

"I'll just raise the price a little!"I said

He looked down frustrated

"Why do I even bother with this mongrel"he said

Professor romani then tried to ease the tension between us

"Now now break it up you two"he said as he turned to me

"So,did you do your homework?"he asked me as I nodded

"Here!!"I said giving him the papers I brought with me

He looked at them nodding before he sighed

"Still bad with math I see"he said

I just rubbed the back of my head nervously smiling

"I'm sorry,I just don't think it's my strong point"i said

"Nonsense,let's do an two hours or three of math followed by history and geography with Gil"he said planning the day

"I always wondered shy is mr. Gil the one teaching my history and geography"

"Trust me,he knows things even I don't"said professor romani as we then started our studying lessons

I finally finished studying with mr. Gil and professor romani as I was now heading back to my house with them to escort me back since it was nearly nighttime

I looked from the window without glass to see that there was a light inside

My face lit up in happiness as I ran inside

'She came early today!!'I thought to myself as I burst through the door of our house

"MOM YOU'RE BACK EARLIER THAN USUAL!!"I said as I she saw me and then recieved a hug from me who jumped at her

"Yes I'm back,I missed you a lot"she said said as gave me headpats

"Hi there mrs. Akemi"greeted her professor  romani

"It's a pleasure to see you woman"

"Hi there you two,why don't you stay her for dinner?I received a little bit more money from work today,Y/n why don't you go buy us vegetables?I'm makeing soup today"she said as she handed to me two silver coins

"Yeah!!soup!!"I cheered as I headed outside to buy ingredients for a rather rare meal

After Y/n left,the smile on homura's face left as she looked at the two men in front of her

"You two already know right?"she said as they nodded

"Their daughter broke a plate and she blamed it on me,so they fired me without paying me"

"And how did you get those silver coins?"asked Gil

"They did fire me for the wrong reasons so I couldn't leave without committing an actual felony"she said smiling and winking

They both smiled

"But there's something else right?I mean,losing your job shouldn't leave you like this since you can get another one"said romani

She nodded as she clenched her fist

"Yes,this came in supposedly after Y/n left for his study session"she said pulling out a piece of paper from her pocket

"What is that?"asked Gil

"Something I feared ever since the war started

It's a draft notice from the army

They want to send my son to war!!"she said as she broke in tears

Both men looked down as they knew it was coming eventually,ever since the countries of the continent were plunged in war and chaos they are hiring people left and right,if someone doesn't have an important job for example farmers or builders and other jobs

And these conflicts aren't limited to only two countries there are several others in war as well

And Y/n is about to get thrown into the middle of it all
