Today is yet another day in our village,I woke up to see mom was cooking breakfast which was just heated up bread with butter and two small cups of milk

"Hi mom!you're not leaving for work?"I asked

"No dear,my employer said I could have a small vacation"she said

"Really?but they wouldn't let you on a vacation even if there was a festival"i remarked

"What can I say,they're pretty random about these things"she said as she was reaching for vegetables

"Y/n can you go and buy me some potatoes?take the money from the drawer"she said

"Okay!"I said as I headed out of the house and to the village

As I was walking through the streets I noticed there was no one here

"Weird,where is everyone?"I asked as I then saw them gathered around at the marketplace of the village to see that all the stores were wrecked and the food was stolen

"What happened here?"I asked

"It's a tragedy!!someone stole all of our food and not only that wrecked our shops as well!how are we going to get by until the next season?!we don'teven have enough money to hire a hero to bring back our food!!"shouted an old lady

Someone stole something,someone did something bad

AND IT'S A HERO'S JOB TO STOP THEM!!

I then started to run outside of the village

"Stop Y/n!!your mother has already told you to never step out of the village!"said one of the villagers

"Don't worry!I'll bring all of our food!!don't worry!!"I shouted as I ran away from the village and to the forest

I was still following the footprints on the ground For some reason they were huge but I ignored that fact and went deeper into the forest

"Woah!!so this is a forest!it's so beautiful!"I said outloud

But I then heard rustling as I turned around

"Who's there?"I asked but to no avail

I looked down and noticed a wooden stick that I grabbed so that I can use it as mean to defend myself

I kept on walking looking for the burglar before I stopped to realize something

I don't know how to get back!!!

But I then heard a growl as I turned around and once again to see nothing

I sighed

"Who am I kidding?only a hero can do something like this,it's not like there's any shortage of them"i said as I then stumbled upon a cave

The outside of it didn't have anything except for muddy grass

"This has to be where the burglar went to!!"I said as I entered the cave

"ANYONE HERE!?!?"I shouted from the entrance as I then noticed what I came for

OUR FOOD!!

I was so happy as I was about to run towards it and grab as much as I could but then I heard the growl again,and it was much louder than the first one as something was blocking the sunlight

I slowly turned around with a cracked smile to see



Oh my goddess

"ROOOAAAAARRRRR!!!!!"roared the ogre as I started to run away from it as it followed me while carrying a tree log and waving it around knocking trees down

"HA!!I bet you can't catch up to me with that huge log you're carrying!!"I said

The ogre looked at the log in his hand and let go of it before hurrying to me

"AAAAHHHHH!!!!!"I shouted as I then looked at the trees before climbing in one of them quickly before he could catch up to me

The giant ogre than stood there

If I tried to run away he would just run to another tree and eat me

And if I got down he would instantly crush me

How do I get out of this?come on!think!

'Wait,the vines!!these giant trees have vines that I can use to tie it up,not only will it be unable to attack me but I can immobilize him as well and take the food while he's down

I grabbed a vine hanging from the trees and took a deep breath

'It's happening now,I don't know how it came to this but it's happening

I'LL DEFEAT MY FIRST MONSTER RIGHT HERE AND PROVE TO MY MOTHER I CAN EXPLORE THE WORLD!!'

I then jumped off the log as I started swinging using the vines as the ogre swung his fist at me but I went past it at the last moment before the vine tangled under his arms and onto his feet

As I landed on the ground I then took balance of myself and started pulling the vine

"HEAVE HO!!"I shouted as I started to pull on it which made the ogre lose balance as it fell a few inches away from me

I tried to act cool and not move from there but I was so scared I was going to get crushed I walked back a few meters away

"WOOHOO!!!THAT'S WHAT YOU GET BUDDY!!"I said as I taunted the ogre

Said creature looked down as I noticed a hint of sadness coming from his eyes

Then I noticed his chest,how did I not see it?

He was severely wounded for some reason

"So that's why you stole our food,you needed it until you had recovered"i deduced as he looked at me

"But you shouldn't steal things that aren't yours you know?"I said to him as he nodded

I walked behind him and climbed on top of his back and then untied him

"You can go now,you're free to go"i said

The ogre looked at me with shock

"I can't kill,just promise me you won't steal from us again okay?"I asked the giant ogre who just kneeled on all four in front of me

"It's okay no need for that!"i said

the ogre left after helping me out of the forest where I carried the food which was put in a carriage

I came back to the village to see everyone who didn't believe what I had accomplished

"You should hurry Y/n!!you're mother is really worried about you and I she has things to tell you"said the woman as i left for my house hoping i didn't worry her too much

I entered my house to see my mother sitting in one of the cushions

She looked calm as she turned towards me and smiled warmly

"Y/n,I have great news for you"she said

"Really?what is it?

"You can finally go on an adventure now"
