Chapter 12

Hey guys... Sorry (again...) for not posting this on Wednesday... Same-old-same-old, school, work, and school work. So, here you are! I posted!

Emma

Soran isn't at school today. But why do I care? He's been nothing but a thorn in my side this entire first semester. I'm just glad I won't see him for an entire week for Thanksgiving break. I am so done with his shit.

Ever since the night Gaven became Alpha, Soran has been doing everything in his power to apologize to me and to try and get me to stop trying to reject him.

I glanced over my shoulder to his table and saw only his Beta and third in command at the table, whispering to each other. Why do they even follow him? They can see that he's a jerk. They seriously can't think he's a great leader and don't agree with how he holds himself. Hell, I know they don't like how he sleeps with other women instead of his future Luna. My heart tightened a bit, but I quickly brushed it off.

I looked back to my table, noting that only Linda was sitting with me today. Kester is out sick, while Gaven is with Emily out doing... something. He won't tell me what. He seriously has to tell her what's going on!

The night she called him right after he became Alpha, he told her that she was probably just imagining things, and that she might just be tired, or that she craves his touch. And she bought it! Then again, humans will believe just about everything they hear...

"Hey, Ems?" I looked up to Linda. "I need to head to the library. I know lunch just started and all, but I really need to so I can do something for a class."

I nodded. "Yeah, go ahead. You don't need my permission to go do something."

She chuckled. "I know. I was just letting you know what's going on. Later, Emma."

"See ya." I waited until she was gone before I cast my gaze to my barely eaten food. I just haven't been too hungry these past couple days. It's as if my body knows I am hurting from what Soran did to me and our soul we share and is just slowly shutting down. Oh god, I seriously hope I don't end up spiraling down into a pit pf depression and the only cure is to be with him...

I jumped slightly as the sound of people sitting in front of me alerted me and made me look up. There sat Soran's Beta and third.

"Hello, Emma." His Beta nodded to me.

I nodded back, but didn't say a word. I don't know these people. Yes, I know of them, but I don't know who they actually are.

"I bet you're wondering why Soran isn't here today," I shrugged at the third and picked at the noodles on my tray. "Well, he went back home."

That caught my attention. The Beta continued. "He went to ask his father to see if he can allow him to stay longer."

"You mean I have to put up with his bullshit for a longer time now?" I blurted out, even though I wanted that to stay in my head.

"Yeah..." The third slowly raised an eyebrow at me. "You'll have to deal with it..."

"Didn't mean to blurt that out," I said around a bite of food. "I swear I wanted that to stay in my head."

"Yeah, okay..." The Beta cleared his throat. "Anyway, he said he's going to try and stay for as long as possible to try and get you to be with him and see that he is not a bad guy."

I snorted and tried to cover my laugh. "Yeah, like that'll ever happen."

"You don't see him after school like we do." The Beta said as he leaned forward over the table a bit. "You don't see the hurt, the pain, and the regret that courses through his entire body. Ever since he stopped seeing other women, he's been trying ever so hard to be loyal to you."

"He just doesn't know how." I focused on the third. "He's never gone steady with any girl before. He wants you to be his first he ever goes steady with. He just wants to make sure he can before he actually tries to ask you to be his and only his."

"The problem is..." The Beta glanced down at the table. "His Wolf is very sexually driven and calls most of the shots in that sense. Seeing you that night sent him into overdrive. He knew that he could never see another girl the way he saw you, even if it was just your backside."

"And you know this...?" I leaned back a bit.

"He told us to stay in the shadows and to only intervene to keep him from crashing the party." The third admitted. "We both had our noses broken when he found out we saw you naked."

"And then he took off and howled into the sky." The Beta sighed. "It was so filled with pain, I'm certain the pack back home felt their Alpha's pain."

I sighed heavily through my nose and pushed my tray away. "So, what do you want me to do? I've already decided that I don't want to be with him. I want nothing to do with him. He's hurt me so much, I'm just certain he will keep hurting me."

"But he wouldn't-"

"What if he ends up falling back on his old ways?" That shut them up. "Lets say he didn't do it intentionally. It happened accidentally, but he then allowed it and realized that he missed his old ways. And then he starts spiraling back down to where he was before and goes off with woman after woman and leaving me hurt and broken. Then where would we be? We'd be a pack slowly breaking and would be forced to have to go Rogue."

"There is that possibility..." The third muttered. "But if he doesn't? I mean, what if he does do what he says and finds a way to stay completely loyal to you? You would then see that he genuinely feels bad about hurting you and making you hurt and feel broken inside. He wants you to see that he wants to change for you so you can see the kind of man that he actually is."

"I honestly don't see that happening." I sighed as I gathered my things. "I don't mean to offend you or hate on your Alpha, but he is just not the kind of man I want to be with. He has no respect for me, or himself towards me. I don't want to be with him." I slung my bag over my shoulder, picked up my tray, then left the cafeteria after throwing my food out.

So many people are trying to get me to give Soran a try. They don't see the pain he's caused me, or the pain he could end up causing me in the future. I meant what I said to them; I don't want to be with Soran. I don't want to go through the hurt that will come with him.

And I know it will come...

I suddenly gave a startled gasp as I rammed into something solid and started to fall backward. I would have fallen on my ass had two strong arms not grabbed me.

"Oh my God, I am so sorry! I didn't see you there!" A male voice said as he steadied me.

"No, no." I gently pulled myself from his grip and dusted myself off. "All my fault. I had my head down and wasn't watching where I was going." I looked up to see soft, blue eyes staring at me with concern, his dark brown hair covering his eyes slightly. He's got to be over six foot.

My mouth popped open slightly. Our eyes remained locked for I don't know how long, but neither of us could look away.

Damn it, why can't he be my mate?!

Because, as much as we hate it, Soran is still our mate. Anna pointed out.

But when I do reject him...

Maybe...

The mysterious man suddenly shook his head. "I'm sorry, it's not nice to stare. I didn't mean to stare so hard at you. I'm Jeremy. And you are?"

I swallowed to make sure my voice didn't crack. "I'm Emma. Nice to meet you." I stuck my hand out, which he grabbed and gave a firm handshake. His hand is warm and has a sense of... I don't know how to describe it. Security is the closest thing I can think of.

"It's nice to meet you, Emma." He gave a soft smile. Damn it, I want him to be my mate so bad! "I just recently transferred here. I'm trying to find this classroom, but..."

"You're lost?" I asked, giving a light smirk.

He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah... So, can you help me?" He pulled his schedule out of his pocket and handed it to me. I read over it and nodded.

"That room is actually right across the hall from my next class." I said as I gave him back his schedule. "I can walk you there after lunch."

He gave a bright smile as he put the paper away. "That would be great! Up until now, not very many people have been helpful."

I sighed and rolled my eyes. "I know the feeling. I remember there was supposed to be a freshmen orientation last year for my class, but it was cancelled because of a fight." One of the newly shifted males got defensive and nearly shifted. But he doesn't need to know that part...

"So you went into the school practically blind?" He asked as we started heading down the hall to wait for the bell to ring.

"Yup," I replied, popping the P. "That wasn't fun. I still hate the kid for doing that."

He laughed, making me wish even more that Soran isn't my mate and Jeremy was. "Yeah, I'd be pretty mad, too."

As we waited for the bell to ring, we had a great conversation and I honestly enjoyed his company. It made me forget the stress from everything I've been dealing with.

I tried to catch my breath after what he just said. "Wait, you mean to tell me that you set fire to your science lab?"

"It wasn't my fault!" He cried in defense. "My lab partner handed me the official lab sheet to look over and when I grabbed it, I hadn't realized he had already turned the Bunsen burner on! It was a small fire and was quickly put out before the fire alarms went off."

I snickered and shook my head. "Well... I don't mean to brag, but I kinda broke the windows in the school cafeteria last year."

His eyes popped wide. "How?!"

I rolled my eyes a bit and locked my hands behind my back. "I may or may not have brought a loud speaker to school, and a guitar, and didn't realize I had it set to a high frequency."

He burst into laughter. "That's awesome! I wish I had been here for that."

I giggled. "A lot of people do."

"What do you mean?" He asked as the bell rang.

"Senior Ditch Day," He coughed out a laugh.

"That's fantastic." He shook his head as he laughed. "Ah, man. I can't wait to hear more of your crazy stories."

I chuckled as we stood by his class in the hall. "And I can't wait to tell you. By the way, this is your class." I pointed to it. He looked over his shoulder and nodded.

"Thanks again, Emma." We shook each others hand one last time before going in to our classrooms.

Gaven

I took a deep breath as I waited for Emily to come to the door. I'm gonna tell her today. I can't keep hiding this from her anymore. I can't keep her in the dark. She's catching on that something is up. She's very smart and very observant. I don't think she bought my excuse when I became Alpha. I just know she has an idea as to what's happening.

Maybe not the exact idea about me being a Wolf, but she must think I must be some Supernatural being.

Damn it, I just hope she still accepts me...

The door suddenly opened and I quickly threw on a smile. "Morning, gorgeous."

Emily giggled. "Morning, Gaven. Are those for me?"

I bit at my lip as I held up the small bouquet of white daisies. "I know you said you liked them, so I picked some for you. Do you like them?"

"I love them." She took them and ushered me inside. "I have the perfect spot to put them. Let me just trim them a little bit then we can go, okay?"

"Okay." I watched her as she grabbed a small vase from under the island, pulled her wallet out to grab a couple pennies, then head over to the kitchen sink. She filled the vase, dropped the pennies in, then clipped off the ends of the daisies before putting them in the water. She placed the vase in the middle of the table then smiled at me.

"Okay, I'm ready now." I held my hand out to her. She took it and we left the house together.

"So, where are we going?" She asked as I helped her into the car.

"Into the forest to my favorite spot." I told her as I got in myself. Technically, I shouldn't be driving yet, but I don't think my parents know that I'm out right now. Hopefully they don't. If they did, I'd be in so much trouble...

"Oooh, sounds exciting." She grinned and settled into the seat. "I can't wait to get there. What're we doing there?"

I shrugged. "Maybe a small picnic."

She sighed. "How romantic..." She barely whispered it, but I could hear her. She just doesn't know that.

Yet...

After a while of driving, I pulled off to the road leading to the pack house. Emily was practically bouncing in her seat with excitement, rocking the car slightly. I pulled the car along side the house and got out. Emily joined me at the hood of the car and together we walked through the forest hand in hand.

As we got closer to the spot, I tried so hard to stay calm. With us being partially mated, I know she can feel my emotions. I don't want her to think something's up. I want to keep this secret just a little bit longer before I reveal everything to her.

But what if she rejects me?

I shook that thought from my head. We've been together for so long; I don't see that happening.

We reached the clearing where all the Alpha's usually meet up to discuss small matters, the one that's shared by the lands. In the middle of the soft swaying grass sat a small picnic basket. Emily about burst with excitement at seeing the basket and the blanket already laid out.

I gently sat her down and pulled out small sandwiches for the both of us. I gave her a bottle filled with her favorite half lemonade, half iced tea, drink. She smiled and removed the lid, taking a swig of it. I pulled out a bottle of Pepsi. She giggled and I couldn't help but smile warmly at her.

She's just so damn breath taking. So perfect. So beautiful. So-

"Gaven?" I snapped out of my trance. "You've been staring at me for a while. You okay?"

I nodded and took a drink. "Yeah, just admiring your beauty."

She rolled her eyes. "That's a cheesy, over used line. But I love it either way. And I love you."

I pulled her closer to me, making her give a light squeak. "And I love you." We sat in a comfortable silence for a while after that, just enjoying the food and each others company.

But deep inside me, I was scared. What if she rejects me when I tell her who I am? What if she leaves me? My dad did tell me about what happens if one is rejected after mating. There is the chance that I could be hurt physically and emotionally, and her psychologically, but he did say there was a high chance of death. In all the cases he read about, both had died from the shock the rejection had brought. Since mating brings the souls back together, rejection will forcefully rip them apart, killing the hosts.

I don't want that to happen to us...

"Gaven?" A finger traced under my eye. "Are you okay? You're crying."

Damn it! I quickly whisked away the tears. "Am not. I'm perfectly fine." Yeah, she can definitely hear that I had been crying.

"Don't lie to me." She got out of my arms and sat in front of me, placing a hand on my knee. "Something's bothering you. Don't ask me how, but I just know. You're scared, confused, and something else. What's wrong?"

I sighed heavily and began putting everything away. Now is as good of a time as any.

"Gaven? What-"

"Do you believe in Werewolves?" I asked, cutting her off.

"What?" She questioned me as I went to set the basket off to the side.

"Please answer the question." I purposely avoided her gaze. I checked at the bottom of the basket to make sure the spare change of clothes was in there.

"I believe that they were around at one point." I turned my head from the basket slightly. "I mean, mythology is true to some degree. They talk about things that could have possibly happened during the time they say. As for Werewolves being around now, no. I don't. They're a myth. A fable for kids."

I sighed through my nose and stood. "Emily, they aren't a myth. They are not a fable. They are still around. I am one. Nearly everyone in this town is one."

It was silent. My eyebrows suddenly scrunched together when I heard a snort. I turned completely around to see Emily doubled over with laughter.

"Gaven, you're hysterical!" She quickly composed herself with a large smile. "You're so funny. Here I thought you were trying to be serious, but that was classic."

I slowly shook my head then lowered it. "I am being completely serious with you, Emily. I am a Werewolf."

"I saw this on a TV show once." She placed a finger on her chin. "These people were trying to uncover the death of a vampire. He acted like a vampire would, avoiding the sun and drinking blood. Of course, it was all just a cult of humans who believed in vampires and thought of themselves as one. Anyway, the friend of the vampire was a werewolf. He had been killed as well. Long story short, the father of the vampire and the stepmother had killed the mother a long time ago and the vampire had watched, but this was when he was younger, before he bought into the vampire thing and-"

"Emily," She stopped babbling and took a deep breath. "I am not like that. I actually shift into a Wolf. The reason we have such a huge house is because nearly the entire pack lives with my family and I. The reason for that is because I am the Alpha of our pack. Do you know what that makes you?"

She thought for a moment. "An Alpha always has a Luna... Gaven, you're not making sense. Werewolves aren't real. Neither are vampires. They don't exist! Yeah, the thought of them being real sounds cool, but they aren't real!"

I ran my hands through my hair. At least she isn't scared of the thought of Wolves. "Emily, I have to show you something. I just need you to promise something."

She stayed silent. "Please promise me that you won't run."

"Run?" She asked. "Why would I-"

"Please just promise me." I interrupted her.

"I promise." She stared carefully at me.

"Okay..." I took a deep breath and prepared myself for what I was about to do. I could feel Emily staring hard at me.

No going back now.

I shifted, tearing my clothes clean off my body. I closed my eyes as I heard a gasp. I lowered my head as I waited for her to say something. The silence dragged on forever. The wind lightly messed with my fur.

Emily was too silent. She didn't move, nor did she speak. I slowly peeked my eyes open a bit to see her staring at me with wide eyes, her mouth open a bit. Her hair drifted a bit in the wind, causing it to cover her face a bit.

The suspense of her silence was starting to drive me insane. She was blank inside with her emotions, not feeling anything.

I gave a heavy sigh then started to turn away. I had a feeling she wouldn't like me as a Wolf. Humans just don't understand this way of life.

I jumped as a pair of arms suddenly wrapped around me. "You are real! This is real! This isn't a dream! Gaven, please don't go! I've been having dreams like this for weeks now! I was only waiting for me to wake up! Just as you'd start to turn away, I'd wake up. I wanted to make sure this was still real! Please don't leave me! I love you!"

I turned back around and shifted back, pulling us to our knees. I held her as close to me as possible, not wanting to let her go. She doesn't want to reject me. She knew, somewhat, all along. She was just waiting for the moment to come true.

She will forever be mine.

And I hers.

There was a gasp and I quickly pulled away with concern. "Gaven! I didn't know you shifted back naked!"

I rolled my eyes. "My clothes aren't magical, Emily. Besides, it's not like you haven't seen this before."

She giggled and blushed. "You're right. We are completely alone, right?"

I tipped my head a bit and sniffed the air, using the wind as my ally to see if anyone was around us. "There is absolutely no one around us for miles."

She smirked. "Good." She then stood and started to pull her shirt up. My breath seemed to stop as she removed her shirt and tossed it to the ground. Her hands went to her hips and undid her pants to slide them down. My heart began to pound loudly in my chest as she bared herself to me. She stood before me in only her underwear.

"Gaven," She gently laid her hands over her hips and bit her lip. "This is all so new to me. I want you to tell me everything about your ways. I want to know about your pack, how it works, and I want to know what I have to do to be a Luna; your Luna."

"Then get over here," I said seductively. "Let me start by telling you how to be a Luna. First, take off every last article of clothing." Her eyes sparked, knowing where this was going. She quickly did as I said, then sat down on her knees before me.

I playfully lunged for her and held her to the ground. "Now, I will show you how to become Luna. It's fairly simple, my dear. It's just like the first time we did it, only there's one extra step..." Emily gave a soft moan as I began to gently tease her, preparing her for when I actually enter her. Foreplay is very important.

Once I knew she was ready, that's when everything began. It was soft, slow, and exhilarating all at the same time. This is much better than when we first did this, and I knew Emily would agree.

Our first time was done very quickly to keep her parents from finding out.

But now that time is in the past, and is being replaced by the pure bliss of right here and right now. I knew she was getting close by the change in how her body moved.

I had to do it now. "Emily,"

"Yes," She spoke softly, slightly out of breath.

"There is one more thing I have to do before we complete this." I told her gently. "I have to bite you on your neck, claiming you as mine."

"Do it," She urged as her nails dug into my shoulders. "Please, do it now!"

"As you wish, my Luna." I leaned in and gently licked her neck as I found the spot I would mark to claim her as mine.

Just as I was about to sink my teeth in, there was a sudden change in the wind. My ears perked up and I pulled away slightly.

"Gaven?" Emily asked breathlessly.

"Something's not right..." I whispered as I hovered over her protectively. "Stay low..." Idiot... Why did I say that? It's not like she can disappear into the ground.

My mind suddenly focused back on what was coming for us. The wind brought with it an ungodly smell, making my nose curl up.

Then it hit me.

Rogues.

"No, not now!" I cursed as I quickly pulled out and brought Emily as close to me as possible, making sure she wasn't in the direct line of sight of the Rogues.

"Gaven, what's going on?" I looked to her and saw the tears of fear in her eyes.

"Rogues," I explained. "They're Wolves who have gone against their pack. Don't worry, I swear I'll protect you."

"Rogues!" I quickly linked the warriors. "In the clearing! Hurry!" Emily screamed over my shoulder as I heard four huge Rogues break through the tree line.

"Gaven!" I held Emily tighter to me as even more Rogues entered the clearing around us.

I kissed Emily on her forehead, shifted, then stood protectively over her.

I linked the next message to the entire pack. "IT'S AN AMBUSH!!"
