Tinder Date

Jessica and the kids were eating their breakfast in the kitchen all on their phones. Jessica was swiping through her emails until her phone continuously started to ding. It was from her app, Tinder. Jessica had been on the apps for a few weeks. She had lots of men interested in her, but she was too scared.

Olivia and Sean looked up from their phones and glared at Jessica.

"What?" Jessica whines shutting off her phone.

"You know you can turn off your ringer, right?" Olivia snaps

"I need to have my ringer on for work. And that's not fair, I listen to your phone ring all day." Jessica roles her eyes and sets down her phone.

Jessica's phone rings again and she huffs.

"Oh my god." Sean says setting down his spoon.

"What?" Jessica turns to him nervously.

"You're on tinder."

"No sir!" Jessica snaps

Olivia starts to laugh.

"Yes! Yes! That's the sound tinder makes. Holy crap, guys are interested." Sean grabs Jessica's phone and goes to the app.

"Hey! Give that back, now!" Jessica says

"Wow, thirteen request. You've only accepted.... zero?" Sean gives her a strange look.

Jessica snatches the phone away and shuts off her ringer. "You're all going to be late for school. Go, get out of here before!" Jessica says in a joking way.

They stand up and give her a hug goodbye.

"Mom, you should really go out with one of them." Sean says

"Thanks, but I'm deleting the app." Jessica says shoving her phone away.

Jessica was at work and had been getting messages from Tinder all afternoon. After her meeting she rushed into her office, embarrassed. She finally shut off her ringer then scrolled through the request. There was one man that caught her eye. He was very handsome in Jessica's opinion. She nervously pressed the accept button and saw that this man had messaged her.

Hi, I'm Dennis.

Jessica smirked then messaged him back.

Hello Dennis. I'm Jessica.

...

Hi Jessica, your profile picture is beautiful.

...

Aww, thank you.

...

Maybe we can get to know each other and see where this all takes us?

...

Yes, that would be great.

When Jessica got home her phone was glued to her hands as she messaged Dennis back and forth. The kids waited for her in the living room when she got home. Jessica was in a bubbly mood and couldn't stop smiling.

"Mom? What's up?" Sean says curiously

"Hm?" Jessica hums as she types furiously.

"Mom!" Olivia exclaims

"What? I'm sorry! It's just... never mind." Jessica shakes her head and tosses her phone to the side.

"Is something going on?" Sean says

"No, nothing's going on. Just work emails."

"Work emails make you giggle and bite your lip? I doubt it." Olivia says

"You know what, I think I'm going to go to bed. You three should go to bed as well." She says sternly.

Jessica was just about to go to bed when her phone began to ring. It was Dennis calling. She clenched onto her phone and decided whether or not she should wait to answer. She couldn't help herself.

"Hi, Dennis?" Jessica says innocently

"Jessica, hey. I've been thinking... I'd really like to take you out for dinner. Maybe one day this week when you aren't busy?" He says

"I'd love to! How is Friday?"

"Friday is great. Friday at six? Does Sawa sound good?"

"It sounds great. I'll see you then."

Jessica ended the conversation then kicked her legs in excitement. She had only been on dates with Danny. She was excited to get out and have dinner with him.

Friday-

The kids were at Danny's and she hadn't told them about her date. Jessica got off work early so she could get ready for her date. As excited as she was, she was also super nervous. She didn't know how it would work out. She hoped it would.

Around six Jessica met with Dennis who sat at a booth. He stood up and greeted her. He wore a casual polo and jeans. His hair was slicked back and his smile was perfect.

"It's so nice to meet you in person." He says politely giving her a hug.

"It's great to meet you as well. I'm glad we were able to get together."

"Why don't we sit?" He says

As dinner went on Jessica found herself bored out of her mind. She wanted the time to go by quick so she could get home. Dennis was a nice man, but something was off about him. As he talked, the whole time, Jessica discovered that he was a high school science teacher that has never been married, lives in his parents basement, and collects action figures. He basically reminded Jessica of her nephew who was a huge nerd. Jessica sat at the table watching him chew with his mouth open explaining the Star Wars movies to her. She was slowly starting to fall asleep but tried to be as kind as possible.

Jessica glanced over to her side a few times and saw a man staring at her from the bar. He could tell that she was dreading every second of the date.

Jessica needed a break... she decided to sneak off to the restroom.

On her way back the same man that stared her down from the bar pulled her aside and stopped her. He caught her by surprise.

"Umm excuse me!" Jessica snaps

"I can tell you are having an unsuccessful date. Do you need help?" He chuckles

Jessica stared into this mans eyes. They were so dreamy.

"I'm sorry but who are you?" She says backing away.

"I'm just a guy in a bar. Let me help you out. I'm your brother, follow my lead. Just go sit back down." He motions her back to her table.

"Oh god, I don't know. What if I'm just tired?"

"I'm in your same position and need saving too."

Jessica was concerned but she really wanted to get out of this date. She did as instructed and sat back down.

"You're back! Now I can tell you about the third movie!" He exclaims

"Haha... yea." She looks back at the man from the corner that slowly walks up to them.

"Oh god, there you are!" The man says

Jessica was confused at first. She didn't know what to say.

"Who's this, Jessica?" Dennis says

"Hi, I'm Tim... Jessica's brother." The man greets himself.

Jessica clears her throat and follows along.

"Tim, how did you know I'd be here?"

"I remember you telling me. It's mom again. It seems she fell again. You haven't answered your phone and I need you to come back with me to go see her. I think she's loosing it."

Jessica tried not to giggle. As terrible as she felt she excused herself from dinner leaving money for dinner.

"Dennis, tonight was-

I just need to go. I'm so sorry, but thank you." She says hugging him.

"I'm sorry about your mother. Keep me posted."

"I will... gosh it's crazy. I better get going with Tim."

Jessica casually walked out with the man. They hid behind the building bursting into laughter.

"Oh my gosh, I can't believe we did that." She exclaims

"Haha, well your welcome. I could see how much you were suffering. Let me guess, a Tinder date?" He chuckles

"How did you know?" She giggles in embarrassment.

"I was on one myself. But just a wild guess."

"It was horrible. He's so nice but such a- I can't explain." Jessica holds her hair in distress then laughs again.

"Jessica, it's nice to meet you. I'm Sam by the way." He says holding out his hand.

"Sam, nice to meet you as well. I'm sorry your date didn't turn out that great." Jessica pouts

"Nah, its okay. It ended up being pretty great after we put on that last minute show."

"Well thank you, I appreciate it. I should really go check on my mom now." Jessica turns to her car and smiles.

"I hope to see you around. Tell your mom to stop falling!"

Jessica shakes her head and laughs. "I will!" She jokes. Jessica smiles at him again and waves goodbye.
