Seeing Her

"I'll call 991!" Sam says running to grab his phone as Jessica sits over top of Olivia trying to revive her. She had begun to seize and foam to the mouth. That's how they knew it was an overdose.

Everyone was in panic. Never did they expect this. Jessica felt numb and wanted to burst out and scream. She tried her hardest to just let it Just be tears. Only minutes in and Jessica couldn't keep that promise to herself.

She screamed and screamed. Her screams echoed throughout the house. She didn't want this to be it. She didn't want this to be the end to Olivia's life, because if it was, it would be the end of hers too.

The amount of guilt and frustration Jessica had built up was overwhelming.

"Baby, come on, come on!" Jessica says holding Olivia, shaking her, trying everything she could to bring her back. Jessica could feel her heart beating but no breathing. Jesusca

"Sean, what are those over there?" Jessica yells when she sees a pile of pill bottles on her bed.

Sean runs over and reads the bottles. They all had his name on it. They dated back to his surgery when he was a freshman, Olivia's ankle injury, and Sean's wisdom teeth removal. All were opioids. How she got ahold of them, they had no idea since Jessica kept those all locked away.

Jessica cried and cried. She forcefully opened Olivia's mouth and moved her finger around. Luckily, she was able to get a few pills stuck under her tongue out.

"Jesus Christ! How did this happen? How did this happen? Why did you do this, Olivia! Why did you do this!" Jessica cries harder and harder.

Sean didn't know what to do. He just sat their, waiting for the ambulance to come and possible save his sister.

He wanted to comfort his mother, but he wasn't strong enough.

Sooner than later Sam rushed back into the room to assist Jessica.

Less than ten minutes later the ambulance pulled into the driveway. Sean let them in and they raced to Olivia's room. Jessica refused to
Let her go but Sam reassured her that the paramedics could do more for her.

Immediately they put her up on the stretcher and started doing resucue breathes.

It was agreed that Jessica would go with Olivia and Sam would meet Jessica at the hospital. Sean, as much as he wanted to go, needed to stay with Logan.

This whole time they tried to keep him in his room but as they rolled Olivia out of the room he jumped on the stretcher.

"You can't take my sister, stop!" He yells sternly

"Sir, your son!" The paramedic says

"Logan, come on." Sam says with tears in his eyes as he pulls him off of Olivia

"What happened to Livy?" He says as Jessica runs into the ambulance.

"She's going to be okay...." Sam struggles to say as he watches them drive off.

Right after they left Sam got ready to leave. Everyone was a mess. Sean wanted to go so badly but wasn't aloud.

"Sean, I'll call you, okay?" He says as he watches him break down in tears

"Sam.... she cant die.... it was all my fault. I never threw away those pills." Sean cries

"Listen to me. This was no ones fault. If anyone it was ours.... not yours." Sam cries

"Make sure they do everything they can." He cries

"Of course.... please, call your dad and let him know what's going on."

At the hospital-

When they arrived to the hospital they gave Olivia Naloxone. But after that Jessica didn't see anything of her or the doctors.

As she waited for Sam her heart raced, they couldn't breathe. She was in panic mode scared to death about what could happen to her daughter. She attempted to call Danny and her mother but couldn't. She couldn't speak.

Until Sam arrived, Jessica nagged the nurses, begging to know if Olivia was still alive and what they were doing to her. She needed to know, she had a right.

"Ma'am, I don't know. Please, just let the doctors do their job. We don't want anytime taken away from them while they revive your daughter." The nurse says calmly

Jessica bangs on the counter then turns around and falls to the floor. She curls up in a ball then screams and cries.

Surely enough, Sam arrived just in time. As the nurses were about to take Jessica, he stopped them. He fell to the ground with her, wrapped his arms around her trembling body, and held her tight.

"How could this happen to my baby? It's all my fault! I did this to her! Why wouldn't she let me help her? Why didn't I try harder! My baby girl was hurting and I didn't help her.... Sam, she's going to die! My baby girl is going to die!" She screams in his arms

"That's not true... this isn't your fault. But don't say she is going to die. She isn't going to die. Listen to me, she isn't going to die." Sam says sternly. Tears rolled down his face. Jessica had never seen Sam cry so hard, ever.

The nurses let them be. Sam just held Jessica and didn't let Jessica go. This was as relaxed as Jessica could get, and she didn't even feel relaxed. There was no way she could stay calm.

Another ten minutes later and Danny came running into the ER. She wasn't surprised to see him, since she asked for him to be called.Of course, Danny was the last person she wanted to see and knew it would be the last person Olivia would want to see, but Danny was her father, and if anything were to happen to her and he wasn't there Jessica could never forgive herself. It had been over a year since Jessica last saw Danny.

"Jessica.... what happened?" He cries

He stood in front of Jessica and Sam, hopeless. He as well had tears in his eyes and was just as much shocked and taken back as everyone else.

Jessica slowly stood up. Shocking herself, she fell into Danny's arms and cried. For some reason she felt the smallest bit of comfort, she had no idea why, but she did. Sam understood, too. They were Olivia's parents.

"Sean told me.... but why? Why did she do this?" He cries

"I don't know... she hasn't been herself. She's been failing and skipping school. She had a break up, maybe this sparked it. I just don't know! I feel so helpless and guilty!" She cries

"But you know this isn't your fault? You're a wonderful mother, Jessica."

Jessica cries and tries to wipe her tears.

Then, Sam stands up to shake Danny's hand. The last time he saw Danny was after confronting him over what he did in the supermarket parking lot.

"Sam."

"Danny."

"Thank you for having Sean call me."

"Of course."

"Huston?" A doctor says walking into the waiting room. Next to him were a man and woman dressed nicely. They had notepads in their hands and looked extra serious.

"That's us! That's us! Is my baby okay? Is she alive?" Jessica cries running up to them.

"Her heart is beating. She is in fact alive." The doctor says

They three parents let out the biggest breath and felt the slightest bit at ease.

"What did you have to do?" Danny asks

"Immediately when she arrived we gave her naloxone, that brought her back fairly quickly. But, she was still unconscious. We took her in and pumped her stomach. It seems that she overdosed on opioids. Luckily, were were able to clear everything out. Unfortunately, she is currently in a coma. We have her on an intubation tube."

Then, the sense of relief was snatched as quickly as it was given. Jessica, Sam and Danny all broke down into pieces once again.

"Can I see her? I need to see her!"

"I'm afraid we can't allow that right now, ma'am." The woman says who stood next to the doctor

"What? She is her mother. She deserves to see her." Sam says

"You can't keep us from her, especially at her state!" Danny yells

"Sir." The other man says

"Since this was an attempted suicide and ruled intentional, we can not allow you to see her until after child services speaks with her. This is all in the best interest of your child." The one lady from child services says

"No! I need to see my baby! She needs me!" Jessica yells trying to get past the doctors.

Sam and Danny both knew this would happen. They pulled Jessica back, especially since these doctors meant business.

"Until she wakes up-"

"There is still a chance she can get through this?" Jessica says with tears in her eyes

"Yes, ma'am. Thankfully there is. But there aren't any promises."

"Until she wakes up, to make this go quicker, we'd like to interview the parents. All the information you can give us with help with your daughters recovery and then, we can discuss facilities."

"Facilities?" Sam asks

"Your daughter won't be going home until she's stable. She needs help." The other man says

Jessica covers her face and shakes her head.

"Who are her parents?"

"We all are." Jessica says

Danny sighs and Sam steps in. "These two are her parents. I'm a step father." Sam says

"Does she live with mom or dad?"

"Me. She lives with my husband and I." She says, holding sam's hand.

"If this changes anything with interviewing, I haven't spoken to Olivia in almost a year. We haven't been on good terms in a while. So, if you want the most information, it's best you talk to Jessica and Sam." Danny says with sadness.

"Yes, thank you for letting us know. I know right now is a hard time, but I'd like to speak to the main household parents right now. Ma'am you'll come with me, sir, you'll go with Richard. We will do individual interviews, then, you sir will join in and we will meet with all three of you together." The lady says to Jessica, Sam, then Danny.

"Of course. Anything.... I want my daughter to be okay...."

"After the interviews you will be updated on her conditions." The doctor says

"Can't we just have at least a supervised visit? Please?" Jessica begs

"Yes, after the interviews."
