Sean Is Leaving

August-

Sean would be heading back to school any day now. So, Jessica and Sean were very busy shopping making sure he had everything he needed for his dorm and the new school year. Jessica of course was so sad to see him go again. This summer was one to remember. As a family, they had a lot of big milestones and really grew close to each other. Closer than ever. They had Logan to thank for that.

Luckily, day by day Logan was doing much better. Starting next month Jessica and Sam would be driving him a little ways to see a trauma specialist. Wendy suggested it to hopefully held Logan overcome lots of fears, his nightmares, and separation anxiety. It took a while to get him to see this doctor too. Until then Sam and Jessica tried to help him as much as possible.

While Sam was out at the farm with Olivia and Logan, Jessica took Sean to target for some more dorm shopping. Sean wasn't really into it, but he had to help his mother. This was also one of Sean's opportunities to sneak away since him and Logan were so attached. Logan really looked up to Sean and considered him one of his best friends. Sean was really good with him. Jessica and Sam were worried for Logan when Sean would leave.

"I think we should get more of these plastic organizers. It's best for you to stay as organized as possible and not live like a pig in your room." Jessica says throwing more things into the cart.

"Ma, I just don't think you understand. Men are happiest with a little bit of clutter." Sean smirks

"I understand.... all your life I've been cleaning up your messes." Jessica huffs

They continue walking.

"I bet Logan will be the same way." Sean chuckles

Jessica pouts "No... not my little angel. He won't be like that." Jessica says with denial

"You know mom... ever since Logan has been around, I feel as if he's changed us for the better. In a way I feel like you and Sam did really good taking him in and giving him the family he deserves." Sean says sincerely

Jessica smiles then holds her hand to her chest. "He is one of the best things that ever happened to our family... it's refreshing."

"Next to Sam... who is basically our saving grace. Saved our family from shit."

"You don't know how happy I am knowing that you and Olivia are happy with the way things are. Parents divorcing is never easy. Your dad and I didn't make it any easier on you either. We've overcome a lot, huh bud?" Jessica smiles , giving Sean a hug.

"Yeah... you did good mom."

"We're home!" Jessica and Sean say coming into the house with bags and bags of things.

"Let me help you with that, babe!" Sam says rushing to her assistance

Then Logan follows Sam, like his little shadow and tries to carry bags as well.

"I got it, bud. But thanks." Sean says

"I want to help!" Logan smiles

"Why don't you go grab the paper towels in the car, honey?" Jessica smiles, giving him the
Opportunity to help.

Logan was everyone's little partner. He was so helpful around the house and farm. Even though he was young, Jessica wanted him to have responsibilities just like Sean and Olivia.

Logan smiles then runs out of the screen door to get his things.

"Did you guys have a nice time? Shopping shopping and more shopping." Sam chuckles

"We didn't make that much of a dent. How about you three? Where's Olivia?"

"I put her to work today... she worked with Mona and the trainer too so she's tired. She took a little slip off the horse today." Sam sighs

"Oh no! Is she okay?"

"Yeah... she insisted she was fine. But Logan was asking where everyone was all day." Sam chuckles

"Probably because he's so used to us being together all the time." Sean says

"It's going to be hard for him to adjust when you're gone. Maybe spend some extra time with him. You know?" Sam says to Sean

"That's what I've been thinking. It won't be pretty." Jessica pouts

"What won't be?" Logan says juggling paper towels and toilet paper from the trunk

"Oh baby! Look at you, what a big help!" Jessica chuckles as she takes the things from him.

"It's hot... ooof!" He says wiping his forehead

Everyone chuckles at his cuteness then smiles. "It is. How about we go swim?" Jessica says

"Yay! Swim! Swim!" He says jumping up in the air

"Go grab your suit! But wait for me!" Jessica says as he runs up the stairs

A few days before Sean leaves-

As they got closer and closer to Sean leaving, Jessica's parents farewell festives would begin soon. Logan still had no idea that Sean would be leaving for a while. Jessica and Sam needed to think of ways to prepare him. After a long day of swimming and playing, Jessica and Sam sat Logan down one night to talk with him.

"Hey Logan, can we put down the toys and come sit?" Sam says sitting down on the couch next to Jessica.

"Yes!" He smiles running over to his parents and sitting down in between Jessica and Sam.

"We wanted to talk to you about something important." Jessica says

"What?" He asks

"It's about Sean... see, soon he'll be leaving for a while." Sam says

"What! No!" Logan's eyes grow wide and he starts to panic. His heart began to race.

"Shhhh.... it's okay." Jessica says trying to avoid tears

"Why? He lives here." Logan says with confusion

"He does.... but he also lives little ways away. See, since Sean is a big boy he goes to a big boy school. But his school is father away and isn't near home." Jessica tries to explain

"College, have you heard of college?" Sam asks

"Hmmmm, I don't know." Logan sniffles

"Baby... don't cry." Jessica says holding Logan close

"I don't want him to leave." He cries

"He'll be home every few weeks to visit! And when he's not busy you can talk on the phone with him." Jessica insures the little boy

Logan cries harder and harder. Of course Jessica and Sean expected a reaction, but not something so heart breaking like this.

"When?" He cries and struggles to say

"Next Sunday... mommy is going to take him."

"What! Mommy is leaving too?" He yells

"No baby... no... I'll only be gone for two days then be back home before you know it!" Jessica says

Jessica and Sam start to notice that Logan's cries were impairing his breathing. He was having a panic attack. Never have they seen him so upset.

"Logan... it's okay.... just don't think about it right now. Relax baby... just breathe. Breathe like mommy." Jessica says holding him then doing slow breathing.

Logan tries to relax. After being tired from all of his crying he leans into Sam and cries softly, now having a regular breathing pattern.

Sam rubs his back then turns to Jessica who was so distraught. She didn't know what to do. There was nothing she could do. This was a pure example that he needed help as soon as possible.

Friday before Sean leaves-

Dorthy and Albert were holding a little cook out for all of their grandchildren before they leave for college.

All the kids were having a blast. Jessica asked that people didn't really announce their departure since Logan was having such a hard time processing everything.

"Logan, want to go play hop scotch with grandpa?" Dorthy asks as Logan hides himself behind Jessica.

"Come on, bud! It will be fun!" Sam says taking his hand

"Where's Livy?" Logan asks

"She's over there with heather..." Jessica says

"I want to stay with you." He says to Jessica and Sam

"Sorry mom... he's a little, tired." Jessica says trying not to bring up his real problem. Jessica and Sam tried to keep Logan's deeper issues to themselves as a family. They didn't want anyone to worry or baby Logan.

"Logan, you can't be glued to my hip all day. You need to talk to people and have fun. Can you do that for us?" Jessica asks

He starts to suck on his thumb and pout. Jessica pulls his fingers out of his mouth and sighs. "Logan, come on." Jessica sighs

"Hey Logan, come hang out with the guys." Sean says holding his hand out

Logan's eyes light up. He quickly ignores Jessica and Sam then runs to Sean and all of his cousins.

Jessica mouths thank you to Sean then turns to Sam and her mother.

"What's wring with Logan, Jessie? He just seems to be glued to your hips!" Dorthy chuckles

"He's still adjusting." Sam says putting his arm around Jessica.

"He's such a sweetie, though. I love that little fella!"

Saturday night-

Jessica and Sean were getting ready to head out to New York to drop Sean off at college.

Saturday was filled with everyone just being together before he leaves.

Logan knew Sean was leaving, but it was too surreal when he saw his empty room and the car packed to the max. It was surreal for everyone.

Usually the whole family would go to say goodbye, but Olivia started senior year on Monday and Logan started school on Tuesday. Things were busy at the farm and market too, so it was best if Jessica just went.

"Congrats, the car is all yours, again." Sean says handing her the keys

Olivia starts to cry then hugs her brother tightly. This goodbye would be harder then the first, for everyone since over the summer they bounded so much and grew together as a strong family.

"Hey, I'll be home soon." Sean says hugging her tight

"I know... I'm not crying. The air is just dry." She says with embarrassment, wiping her eyes.

Sean chuckles then shakes Sam's hand and hugs him. "I'll miss you.... study hard. Okay? Call if you need anything."

"Of course, thanks Sam."

Then, the moment everyone dreaded.

Sean kneeled down to Logan who was sobbing. He gave him the biggest hug ever. He didn't want to let him go. He didn't want to say goodbye to the little guy. He didn't think it would be this hard for him.

"Don't leave." Logan cries

"I'll be home soon. I'll call every night too."

As Jessica watches she starts to cry too. She falls into Sam's arms and watches the little boys heart break.

"I love you, buddy. You're the best brother ever, you know that?" Sean says

"I'll miss you..."

There wasn't a dry eye in the room. All three kids made such a special bond. It was sad to see Sean go.

"I'll miss you too... I have to go now." Sean says, before anyone sees him cry

Sean grabs his things and leaves, not saying anything else.

"I should go... I love you all, I'll see you soon. Keep an eye on him." Jessica says to Sam

Everyone says goodbye while Sean waits in the car. Jessica hugs Logan goodbye and gives him a comforting kiss.

When Jessica gets to the car, Sean was sobbing. Jessica has never seen him cry so much.

Jessica reaches over and hugs him tightly.

"I didn't think it would be this hard to leave him." Sean cries
