Sean and Olivia were in the kitchen baking a lemon cake for Jessica. The tv in the kitchen was playing the news while they baked.

"When's Mom getting home? I suck at baking." Sean says throwing the wooden spoon into the sink.

"She said no later than five... didn't she call the house as she was leaving work?" Olivia says

"Yeah... maybe she just stopped at the store."

"You're right. Hey can you hand me the flour."
Olivia says

"Yeah." Sean reaches for the bag of flour that was placed next to the tv. He took a quick glance at the tv and noticed that Jessica's office building was being shown with police everywhere.

"Sean, the flour." Olivia says

"Shhh!" Sean turns up the tv up and it catches Olivia's attention. She walks up to Sean and they both listen.

"There is still no sight of the shooter, but both victims have been taken to St. Elizabeth's for care. So far all we know is there was one female victim and one male victim."

Sean and Olivia turn to each There with blank faces. "Call Mom, now!" Sean says pointing to the house phone.

"Sean, Mom couldn't have been shot. Right?"

"I don't know Olivia, just try to call Mom!"

...

"No answer!" Olivia says nervously

Sean breathes heavily then rubs his face. "Okay, Mom is fine... I mean why would someone want to shoot Mom?"

"Maybe we should drive up to the hospital?" Olivia says

"I don't have my license or keys!"

As Sean and Olivia were panicking the front doorbell rang. Sean and Olivia prayed it would be Jessica. They ran to the door and swung it open. Sam stood at the door with food for cooking.

"Hey guys!"

"Sam! Have you heard from my mom?" Sean says nervously

"Around four... why? Is she not home?"

"There was some kind of shooting at the DA's office. There was a girl and guy that got shot. We are scared something may have happened to Mom!"

Sam dropped the bag of food that was in his hands onto the ground then ran into the house.

"How did you hear this?"

Olivia grabbed Sam's hand and pulled him into the kitchen. She pointed to the tv to show Sam all of the commotion being shown on the tv.

"The building is under lockdown. Maybe she can't get to her phone?" Sam says trying to deny anything bad.

"She would call us or something. Anything! Sam we need to go to the hospital and try to see if she's there." Olivia yells

"Okay... lets all calm down for a minute." Sam holds up his hands then takes out his phone.

"I'll try texting her."

"Texting her?" Sean says furiously

"We have to be careful! If she is inside and they're under lock down it has to be silent. I don't want her ringer going off."

"Just let him do what he thinks right." Olivia says to Sean.

Sean nods

Sam sent a quick text to Jessica asking if she was okay. Momentarily his phone began to ring and Jessica's contact name popped up.

They all let out a breath of relief and Sam answered immediately.

"Jessie, are you okay?" He says quickly

"Sir, my name is Nancy. I am at nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Jessica was brought to us less than an hour ago with injuries to the chest. Is there anyone that could maybe come to the hospital?"

Sam's smile quickly vanished and the kids could hear from the phone that it wasn't Jessica. Olivia started to cry and turned to Sean.

Sam was speechless and he didn't know what to say.

"Sir? Are you okay?" The nurse says

"Is she okay?"

"We don't know right now... if you could come to the hospital you can speak with the doctors and nurses on her case."

"Okay... I'm on my way, thank you."

Sam hangs up the phone then looks at the kids.

"Is she okay? Is our mom okay?"

"They wouldn't tell me... grab your jackets and get in my car. We're going to go see her."

"Oh my god! How could this happen?" Olivia cries

"Call your grandparents off my phone and let them know what's going on. Let's get a move on."

When they got to the hospital police surrounded the whole floor that Sam and the kids arrived on. Their hearts were all racing and they all had a sick feeling in their stomach.

Nurses and doctors refused to tell Sam anything since he wasn't on Jessica's emergency contact list. The kids weren't able to know either since they were considered minors. They had to wait for Dorthy and Albert to arrive.

"We need to know if she's okay, god damn it! That's our mom and you can't withhold information like that from us!" Sean extends his body of the nurses desk and begins to lose his cool.

Sam pulls him back forcefully and when he does Sean breaks down into Sam's arms.

"It's all going to be okay. No matter what's happening she'll be okay. She's tough."

"Sean, Olivia!" Dorthy runs into the hospital and straight to Sean and Olivia. She wraps her arms around them then quickly breaks away.

"Where's your mother? How is she?"

"They won't tell us anything! We need you to ask!"

Dorthy covers her mouth then nods. Albert follows behind her and walks up to Sam.

"Thank you for bringing the kids and being there Sam." He says

"I just hope she's okay, Sir."

Dorthy and Albert were able to find a doctor that they could talk to. While they were taken into another room Sean, Sam, and Olivia waited anxiously.

Sean heard a familiar voice and someone else sobbing uncontrollably. He looks up and notices a family member of Neil's. It was is sister and mother. The reason Sean and Olivia recognized them is because Jessica and Neil had been friends for as long as they could remember. Their families were all very close.

"Mrs. Harris!" Sean says running up to her.

She as a mess. Her face was bright red and her eyes were glossy from all of the crying she had been doing.

"Sean, Olivia!" She hugs then and cries even more.

"Was Neil shot?" Sean asks

His mother begins to cry again and his sister Monica comes up behind her and nods. "Yes..."

"Is he okay?"

"Neil... he... He was killed by the gunman." The words seemed impossible to come out but they did.

Sean and Olivia stood still then looked ahead to the room that Dorthy and Albert were in with the doctor. Through the window Sean and Olivia could see Dorthy sobbing into Albert's chest. They even saw Albert crying.

"Oh my god..."
