The next day-

Things happened fast, very fast... Jessica and Sam could barely sleep the night before going to pick up Logan. As soon as the papers were signed they took Logan right out of his foster home and he stayed the night at Wendy's office until it was time for Jessica and Sam to pick him up.

Everyone was extremely excited but also extremely nervous at the same time. Before even feeling it out they jumped right to adoption papers. But just by a few moments with him Jessica knew... it didn't take long.

It would take a lot of adjusting for everyone, but they were all ready. They had to take it step by step. This little boy was coming with lots of baggage. Trauma, heart break, fears, everything. Jessica and Sam were warned, but they were ready.

After a sleepless night Sam and Jessica got ready to do what they had their heart set on for weeks.... save this boy.

"Sean, Olivia, can you come down here please." Jessica calls as she and Sam get ready to leave

They rush down the stairs

"Why don't you guys take a seat. We want to talk with you." Sam says pulling out two chairs

"What's going on? Is everything okay?" Sean asks

"Everything is fine! Today is just a big day... we wanted to talk with you before we go pick up Logan."

"You guys have been great through this whole process. It's been hell... it's a lot to put you guys through." Sam says

"It wasn't a lot... we know this is the right thing."

"I guess what Sam and I are trying to say is that it all happened so fast... even a little fast for us. We just want to triple check and make sure you're all okay."

"We're great, really." Olivia says

"Yeah, you guys, don't worry about us."

"You're always going to be my babies!" Jessica says

"We know, mom!"

Sam chuckles

"Logan will be a hand full. This little boy has been through hell and back. So we are gonna have to spend lots of time helping him. It's gonna be a long adjustment. We want you to be prepared."

"We are prepared. We can handle this. Now go get our new brother!" Sean says

The car ride over was very stressful... Jessica and Sam just hoped and prayed that this was an easy transition for him. They wanted to make sure he knew that he'd always be safe, loved, and that their home was his forever home.

"Okay, we are here. Ready?" Sam says taking her hand

"Sam, the time is finally here and I'm scared."

"Jess..." Sam says

"We're doing the right thing. Right?"

"Well we can't turn back Jessie." Sam says

"No... I don't mean it like that." She whimpers

Sam chuckles "babe, I know... you're working yourself up."

"We're fine." She says reassuring herself

"We're fine. This is going to be fine." He agrees

"Okay."

"Okay." He repeats

"...now lets go take this boy home."

They walk into Wendy's office and immediately see Logan sitting on a coach with only a small blue book bag and a tiny blanket.

When Jessica and Logan look directly at each other they smile. Surprisingly enough tears began to role down Logan's face as he jumps off the couch and runs to her.

"Jessie? You came!"

Jessica kneels onto the floor and opens her arms. He runs into them and holds her as tight as he can. In this moment all her doubts and worries vanished. This is what she had worked so hard for. It was finally here. Logan was safe.

"Hi sweet boy..." She cries

"Miss Wendy says I go home with you."

"That's right... you're going home with me." She smiles happily with tears in her eyes

"Forever She said!"

"Mhm... is that okay with you?"

"Yes! She told me you have animals!"

"We do..."

She smiles happily and jumps in the air. The energy in the room was too amazing.

"Logan, there is someone I want you to meet." She looks and Sam and motions for him to kneel down next to her.

He slowly does... Wendy said for Sam to go slow with Logan. Most males in his life have been abusive which can make him afraid. But, he didn't seem to mind Sam. It was his mannerisms. He was so gentle, sweet, and calm. Logan could sense it.

"Is this the man Wendy talked about?"

"Hey Logan, I'm Sam." He says

"I'm Logan." He says

Sam chuckles "Yes, I know! I'm Jessica's Husband. You're coming home with the both of us." He says

"Really?" He smiles

Jessica couldn't stop crying...

"Really... and those animals, gosh to I love them. I'll make sure we hang out with them all the time."

"Can we go! Can we go!" He jumps in the air

Jessica looks up at Wendy and she nods. "I'll walk you three out to the car.

As Sam walks ahead with Logan, Wendy walks with Jessica.

"Once a week I'll come visit, randomly, unexpectedly, to see how things are going. But it seems to be he's warming up quickly. I'm shocked. With his background I'm surprised he even let Sam go near him."

"I told you Wendy, this was the right thing. We are going to wait to enroll him into school. I want to let him adjust... but I have a few doctor appointments set up. Just check ups, physicals. Can I have his medical forms?"

Wendy hands over a big file and looks into Jessica's eyes. "Take it slow..."

"I will."

"Wait for him to meet your family... don't be too clingy..."

"Okay. Of course, yes. Whatever you think is best."

"I left some notes for you... and also, his grandmothers number."

"His grandmother? I thought you said he had no family left."

"I was wrong... his father's mother. She appeared out of no where. But she has no way of contacting you. It's your choice if you What them to see each other."

"Okay, thank you Wendy."

"Congrats Jessica. To you and your family."

The car ride home was filled with lots of conversation, laughs, giggles, and stories. Today made Jessica feel very optimistic. Logan knew that when they go to the house he'd be meeting his older siblings. That made his just as excited.

As they pulled up the driveway he stared out the window in ahhh. They drove through the busy farmers market then up the hill to the house.

"Animals! I see animals!"

"Yes, those are some of our horses!" Sam says

"I want to see!"

Jessica giggles "slow down buddy... don't you want to meet Sean and Olivia first?"

"Are they big?"

"Ha, Yep!" Jessica giggles

"What if they don't like me."

"Oh sweetie they'll love you!" Jessica smiles

They park the car, then Jessica and Sam get out. They unbuckle him from the car seat. Once he's out of the car Jessica and Sam witness him take it all in... his new home. Even though this boy was little, Jessica believed that he believed this was his forever home.

Sean and Olivia came running out the front door.

"Is that them?" He says hiding behind Sam's leg.

Jessica kneels down and take his hand. "Logan, it's okay. No need to hide. They won't bite."

Logan slowly moves away from sams leg and looks up at the boy and girl towering over him.

They kneel down too. That seemed to be the way to make Logan comfortable... eye level.

"Hey Logan, I'm Olivia!" She says calmly with a smile

"And I'm Sean." He says

Logan slowly waves

"I see you have on a basketball shirt. Do you like basketball?"

He nods slowly

"Sean is really good at basketball." Olivia says

"Logan, did you wanna tell Sean and Olivia what you're so excited for?" Sam says

"Yea... the animals." He says happily

"Really? I love the animals here too. See the white horse? That's mine."

"Really?"

"Yes! You'll have to meet him."

"But first lets let Logan go inside, look around and we can show him his room." Jessica says

"Sounds like a plan."

"A room?"

"Did you ever have a room to yourself?" Olivia Asks

"No..." he shakes his head

"Oh..." she clears her throat

"I shared with mommy and daddy."

"Well that's okay! You're a big boy so we got you a big boy bed." Sam says taking his hand.

Logan's first few hours went pretty well. He was head over heels for his new home. Jessica and Sam were extremely happy. Sean and Olivia were still getting used to Logan. This was going to be a long process.

After Logan got a tour of the house he really wanted to be outside with all the animals and take everything in. Wendy said that he really seemed to love the outdoors. He grew up in a one bedroom apartment from what Jessica read in his file. She assumed he never got out much. Jessica expected for Logan to have a lot of "first times".

Jessica made an easy dinner for everyone. Shockingly, Logan was a very picky eater and wasn't a fan of Jessica's lemon chicken, so she ended up making him little wheels.

Jessica and Sam wanted to start a routine with Logan the day he arrived. So, of course after dinner everyone, including Logan helped clean up. They gave him some 'playtime' alone in his room with his new toys. They had to remember that space was good too, not too clingy. After his bath Logan had time to do whatever he wanted. Everyone did their own thing for a bit until Sam had the idea of having a movie night. He put in a Disney movie. Logan loved it. His laugh lit up the room. He had the best time with the family.

I'm such a short time everything seemed so perfect. Logan seemed just fine.

"Okay! Movie is over, it's bed time." Sam says

Sean and Olivia say goodnight to everyone then go to their rooms to stay up a bit longer.

"See ya in the morning Logan." Sean says giving him a fist bump.

"Goodnight bud." Olivia smiles

"Goodnight!" He responds

"You two get rest. See you in the morning." Jessica giggles

"Alright, it's your turn!" Sam says

"Can we race to my bedroom!"

"Hmm, are you sure you're ready?" Sam says getting a head start.

"Hey, not fair!" Logan says blasting off the couch.

Jessica shakes her head and shuts off all the lights.

She meets day and Logan up in his room where he is giggling along with Sam.

Jessica gets on the other side of his bed and turns on the night light.

"Alright Logan, you know where the bathroom is at night. And if you need anything Sam and I are right next door." Jessica says. She was a bit worried

"I know! I'm tired." He yawns

"You had a long day." Sam smiles

"I'm so happy! I love it here." He exclaims

Jessica smiles and gives Logan a big hug

"I'm so glad! We are happy to have you here as a part of our family."

"Goodnight, Logan. We'll see you in the morning." Sam says tucking him in.

"Goodnight sweetie." Jessica says as her and Sam both stand up.

"Jessie?" He says

"Yes?"

"Can I have a goodnight kiss? Mommy always gave me a goodnight kiss."

Jessica nods her head and gives Logan a kiss.

"We'll see you in the morning." She says

Logan quickly closes his eyes. That was Jessica and Sam's que to leave.

"Today went really well." Sam says as he gets into bed with Jessica.

"I'm shocked. We're lucky. Wendy made it sound like it would go terrible."

"She's a negative person. I'll be happy when we don't have to deal with her."

Jessica laughs "I'll always have to deal with her at work."

"Ha, you're right."

"I love you." Jessica says

Sam leans in and kisses Jessica. "I love you too... you're super woman."

"Funny."

"Seri-" then Sam was interrupted with a knock at the door.

They both get up and go to the door. It was Logan, in tears.

"Logan! What's wrong honey?" Jessica says picking him up

"I'm afraid to be alone! Can I please sleep with you."

Sam and Jessica look at each other than back at Logan. They knew that if they let him sleep with them once it would keep going on. But they didn't want to make his first night traumatic.

"Okay, come into bed with us."

They all get in bed and Logan sleeps in the middle.

"You okay now?" Sam Asks

"I'm scared to be alone." His sniffles

"You're not alone anymore sweetie." Jessica says taking his hand

She looks into his sleepy eyes and smiles.

Sam reaches over and turns off the lights. Logan curls up next to Jessica and slowly falls asleep.

"Thank you." He says softly as he drifts off.
