Devotion

The next day//

It was like any regular morning. Jessica and the kids got ready for their day and headed to school and work.

It was a bit hard for Jessica to consider speaking with Danny. It had been almost three months since he left. Her lawyer advised her to not speak to him, but she wanted to get along with him for the kids.

During Jessica's lunch break she went out to eat with Sarah. Sarah had been there for Jessica, a lot. She called her weekly to see how things were and try to make her a little bit happier.

"My little bailey is only twelve and she talks about boys all the time. It makes me so scared thinking about Vin and Bailey ever dating. Do Olivia and Sean date, their old enough, right?" Sarah chuckles

"Sean, I don't know about him. He had this girl over one time but I never saw her again. And Olivia, no boyfriends. Danny and I had a strict rule of no dating until they are sixteen."

"Really? I never knew that. Does Olivia ever talk about boys?"

"She knows better not to. I don't really let her text them either. She's just so young, if it was my choice I'd make her wait until she's twenty. The thing is, boys... All they want is sex."

"That's very true."

"With Sean, I was a lot more lenient. He could ask girls to homecoming and stuff. I made sure that he knew how a respect a girl. Sean's a very respectable boy too."

"He's great, you're a great mother to those kids."

"Thank you, I never get tired of hearing it. Sometimes you need to hear it other than most times. The times when you feel like you aren't the best mother."

"Never doubt being a great mother, you've devoted your life to Olivia and Sean giving them everything and making sure they have the best life."

"My biggest fear is that they will blame me for the divorce. I mean I fear blaming myself in the future, because I do blame myself now. I was reading about how much it changes a child, that scares me. They are straight A students, their so bright, and just absolutely amazing. I don't want this to change them."

"Jessica, you just proved yourself wrong. You're kids are bright and amazing. Bright and amazing kids know better. They love you and would never blame you."

"No money in the world could cure the feeling of wanting things to be the way they were a year ago, we were so happy. The four of us were irrespirable. They see him tonight..."

"They do?"

Jessica nods

"Is he coming over to get them?"

"Yes, he wants to talk to me. I don't think I can."

"And you don't have to. You don't owe him anything." Sarah says sternly.

Jessica got home a bit earlier then usual. The kids finished their homework and were getting ready to see Danny.

The kids were a bit on edge and nervous to see Danny. Jessica could tell by their attitude.

"Mom, is this okay for dinner?" Paige walks out in a skirt and blouse.

"You look very nice, but it's just dinner sweetie." Jessica walks up to her and fixes her hair giving her a soft smile.

"I never thought I'd be so nervous to see dad." Olivia moves closer to Jessica and hugs her.

"Don't be nervous, just hear him out. And tell him your feelings too. It's important that he knows how you and your brother feel."

"Can you come get me if I don't want to be there anymore?"

"Of course, I'm always here for you."

**

Jessica sat on the couch reading her book when she herd a car door close.

She quickly threw her book on the ground and ran up the stairs into the upstairs hallway.

"Kids, your dad is here!"

The walk out of their rooms and take few breaths.

"Mom..." Sean says

"You'll be fine." She nods giving him a hug.

*doorbell rings*

"Why don't you guys go get the door. I don't think I can face him right now. And don't let him in."

"Okay mom." Sean nods

"Call me when you're on your way home, okay?"

"We will, I love you!"

"Love you too!"

The kids run down the stairs and answer the door. Jessica stood at the top of the stairs listening. She hadn't herd Danny's voice in months, in a way she missed it.

"Dad!" Olivia says enthusiastically

"Liv, Sean!" Danny says

"Where is your mother?" Danny ask

Jessica held her breath.

"She's in the shower." Sean says

"Thank you, Sean." Jessica says under her breath.

"Oh- okay. Well let's go!"

Jessica herd the door close. She ran into her room and looked out the window. She saw Daniel, it was the first time in months. She held her chest holding back the tears.

Now that the kids were gone Jessica was bored and nervous. She kept her phone with her waiting to see if the kids would call.

Sean and Olivia's POV//

"Thank you guys for coming, I really appreciate it." Danny nods

"Dad, why did you do it?" Olivia says quickly

Danny sighs and dips his head down.

"I fell in love with someone else, Justine. We've been together. She makes me very happy. I regret breaking your mothers heart and leading her on for so long. I wish I did it another way, but I'm happy now. And your mother wasn't happy with me anymore towards the end. I mean you guys can't say you didn't notice a change in your mother and i's relationship."

"Yea, but you and mom went through so much. Mom devoted lots of her life to you and making you happy. You guys have been together since high school, she loved you. She did so much for us. And she tried to save your marriage. You just didn't let her. Mom didn't deserve any of this." Sean says sternly

"Sean, you don't understand."

"You didn't have to cheat. You should have used something called COMMUNICATION." Olivia says softly

"Livy...."

"No dad. You broke mom. Sean and I know that you took everything. And three months later you decided to reach out to us. You didn't just leave mom, you left us." Olivia fights the tears and looks away.

"I never meant to hurt you."

"You're just selfish. Mom is struggling, she is a good women and was a great wife. There is no excuse." Sean crosses his arms.

"With Justine, it just happened. I have remorse, and I love you all. I'm sorry kids, but the divorce is happening and I'm going to be with Justine. I'd like you to meet her, I'd like if you two could give me a second chance."

"Why did you stop talking to us?" Olivia says

"I was scared to face you... I was scared as to what you would say. I don't want this to effect our relationship. Yes your mother and I didn't work out, but you are my kids and I will never stop loving you."

"I just wish this could have all been avoided." Sean says

"Just give me a chance to make it up to you. I want to talk to your mom and try to figure out a schedule or something. With the divorce I didn't ask to fight for custody or a money agreement. I just have a money settlement, let her have custody, gave her everything, I don't want to fight. Just because I didn't fight for custody doesn't mean I don't want you, I do. I'm just trying To make this easier on your mom."

"Thanks for giving her a bit of a break, but I don't think anything can make it easier on her." Sean says

"Dad, I miss you... I miss us as a family. But I still want to see you." Olivia looks at Sean and waits for him.

"I do too. I just don't think I'm ready to meet Justine."

"Okay... I understand."

After dinner Danny took the kids home. Jessica was still awake. She herd the kids coming up to the walkway and saw Danny walking with them.

She took a deep breath and looked at herself in the mirror.

When she herd the doorbell ring she walked over to the door and opened it.

The kids stood in front of Danny and said goodbye to him.

"Hey." Danny says breaking the silence.

Jessica gives the kids hugs as they walk in and stands at the door. She gave Danny and small nod and crossed her arms.

"Hi." She says

"Jess, I was wondering if after all this court stuff is done we can figure out some kind of visitation agreement. I don't think we need the courts to figure out a schedule." Danny says

Jessica bites her lip and nods. She tried to speak, but she couldn't.

"And for child support, your check should come in soon. I got that all figured out. All we have to do is finalize this and it's over."

"How is it so easy for you to say that."

"Say what?"

"That it's over. It's like you never cared about our marriage."

"I can't do this right now."

"When can you. You owe me so much. I'm your wife of fifteen years and you can't tell me, you can't do this right now?"

"I'm sorry."

Jessica huffs then turns to the house.

"We built a life here. We built a life together. You threw it all away, and you can never tell me why.

Goodnight Daniel." Jessica turns her body and walks inside.

All of those emotions came back. Jessica fell to the ground and held her body and she cried. It hurt her so much seeing Danny again. She hated it, she hated him.
