June 5th, a few days later-

Jessica and Sam didn't waste any time. They were so close to Logan.... getting married now just seemed to be right. Of course they were pushing aside all their wedding plans for a courthouse wedding, but that didn't bother them. They had been ready to get married since the day they met. They'd save the plans for another time and just tie the knot today.

"Sam, are you sure you don't mind a courthouse wedding?" Jessica says as she zips up her dress

"No, of course not. Babe, I just want to be with you. I don't need a big wedding... I just need you. Besides, this is exciting."

"My sisters will kill me when they find out that all of their wedding ideas won't be put to use." Jessica giggles

"We can still have a wedding.... and when we do, everyone will be there. Even Logan."

Jessica's lip quivers and she begins to cry.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry." Sam says holding her

"I just want this to work out... it's happening fast. We just need to get him out of that house so he can be with us. He connected with me so fast and felt so safe with me. I think god brought him to me for a reason... you bet your ass as soon as our marriage license got in yesterday, I faxed it to her."

"You're such a wonderful person, Jessie. I'm so glad you're going to be my wife. You're heart is so big and your kindness melts my heart."

"I love you Sam Shepard. You're so cheesy" Jessica giggles and grabs his cheeks

"Even though this isn't the wedding me exactly
Planned, we're still going to have super hot sex tonight?" Sam says grabbing her butt

"Oh, super duper hot sex baby."

"Everyone ready?" Jessica yells down from the kitchen as she clips on her earrings.

Everyone wore their Sunday best. Sam and Sean wore a dress shirt, slacks, and a tie. Olivia and Jessica slid on beautiful knee length dresses.

"This is crazy, you guys are finally getting married!" Olivia squeals

"You're all happy about this, right?"

"Are you kidding me? Of course. You guys deserve to be together. And Logan is lucky to be coming into an amazing family like This."

Jessica tears up again. The four of them get into a group hug and hold each other for a minute or so.

Jessica took it all in. She was so lucky. She had the best children, a wonderful soon-to-be husband, and the biggest amount of support from them. There was nothing more she wanted in life.

Everyone knew about the wedding. But today Sam and Jessica just wanted it to be about their little family. Everyone understood.

They arrived at the court house and were ready to do this. Of course Jessica and Sam's hearts were racing, but with excitement.

"Hello? Your name please?" The receptionist says

"Shepard."

"Twelve o'clock. Right on time. If you don't mind taking a seat and waiting!" She smiles

"Great, thank you."

"Congratulations."

Jessica and Sam turn to each other and smile.

"My beautiful bride..."

"My handsome groom."

"Shepard!" Someone calls

"That's us. Are you two ready?" Sam says sitting up

"I have the camera!"

"I have the rings." Sean chuckles

"Great! Let's do this!" Sam says taking Jessica's hand.

When they get into the room, the man conducting the ceremony stands there peacefully waiting.

"Today's the big day? Huh?" He asks

"It is!" Jessica smiles

"Well, getting hitched in the courthouse just seems to be the most romantic in my opinion. So you made a good choice."

"Thank you. I'm Jessica, this is Sam, and then we have Sean and Olivia." She points

"Nice to meet you all. Would you like to start?"

"Yes, I'm ready to marry this woman!" Sam chuckles, taking her hands.

"Haha, great."

Sam and Jessica face each other, look into each others eyes, and smile. It was all so real. The love in the room was overpowering.

Then, he began

"We are here today to celebrate the love that Sam and Jessica have for each other, and to recognize and witness their decision to journey forward in their lives as marriage partners.
May your love create a safe haven for you both on the journey that lies ahead of you. Lead with your hearts and take the time to do the simple things that will nurture your love...
Let your love be an inspiration to your children and others to reach for what is good within us all. May your love be so abundant that you have plenty to share with the rest of us as well. It is your love that has brought us together here today. May it grow deeper and sweeter with each passing year. Shall this marriage bring you happiness and joy throughout life. Cherish your love, keep it safe, and never lose it. For life has brought you two together for a reason." He then smiles and looks to Jessica and Sam. He could even see how in love they were.

"Do you have your own vows?" He asks

Jessica and Sam look to each other and start to
Laugh.

"We forgot to write vows!" Jessica giggles

"That's okay, I have some right here!"

"We can write them for our other wedding. I want mine to be perfect." Sam whispers

Jessica giggles and rolls her eyes. "We're crazy."

"Do you, Samuel Shepard  take, Jessica Lange to be your wife. Do you promise to walk by her side forever, and to love, help, and encourage her in all she does? Do you promise to take time to talk with her, to listen to her, and to care for her? Will you share her laughter, and her tears, as her partner, lover, and best friend? Do you take her as your lawfully wedded wife for now and forevermore!"

"I do, I do, I do." He says anxiously

Jessica begins to tear up. He reaches over and wipes her tears and smiles. He mouths I love you. Before the man begins.

"Do you, Jessica Lange take, Samuel Shepard to be your partner for life. Do you promise to walk by his side forever, and to love, help, and encourage him in all he does? Do you promise to take time to talk with him, to listen to him, and to care for him? Will you share his laughter, and her tears, as his partner, lover and best friend? Do you take him as your lawfully wedded husband for now and forevermore?"

"Yes, I do." She cries

"Wow, do I love my job." He says

Everyone laughs

"And now, seal your promises with these rings, the symbol of your life shared together."

Then, Sean comes up and gives them their rings.

"With the power invested in me by the state of Minnesota, I now pronounce hog husband and wife. Sam, you may kiss your bride."

Sam wraps his arms around Jessica's body and kisses her passionately.

Sean and Olivia couldn't help but tear up a bit. Today was the happiest moment of their life. It was so amazing to watch their mother say I do to the man she was meant to be with from the start. She had never been this happy.

Sam and Jessica were overjoyed. They really did deserve each other. The man was right, courthouse weddings are the most romantic. Everything they did today was out of love. Love for each other, their children, family, and their devotion to Logan.

"Smile happy couple!" Olivia says

Sam and Jessica look to Olivia and smile. Then, the man takes a picture of the two of the whole family.

After the courthouse, Sam and Jessica wanted to go out, but Sean and Olivia insisted they celebrate at home.

Knowing Jessica's family, of course there was a surprise.

And, by the smallest bit of surprise, when Sam pulled in, there was a line of cars in the lawn, picnic tables set up, lights, smoke from the grill going into the air, and a swarm of people at their home.

"Did you two know about this?" Jessica turns to them

"Of course!" Olivia chuckles

"You guys really are the best." Sam says

When they get out of tHe truck everyone runs to the car to greet and congratulate them.

"The newly weds! Congrats, Shepard's!" Dorthy and Al exclaim

"Aww, thanks everyone!"

"It's time to party and celebrate!" Jane yells

"I can't believe you two got hitched in a courthouse!" George says

"It's the most romantic way." Sam says taking Jessica's hand and kissing it.

"Thanks for this! It's a great way to come home after an amazing day." Jessica smiles

Jessica and Sam get changed into so more casual clothes then go back outside for food and to celebrate.

There was music playing, food on the grill, and tons of people. Sean and Olivia managed to gather all of Sam and Jessica's friends. So it was more than just family.

It was such a special night for the two of them. They had so much love for each other they couldn't handle it.

After an hour or so of eating and talking, there was a moment of silence when they heard the sound of silverware hitting the wine glass.

Jessica was taken by surprise when she saw Dennis stand up.

"Jess?" Sam whispers to her

Jessica shrugs her shoulders

"Hi, I'm Dennis, I work with Jessica." He says nervously

Jessica chuckles and sits in her seat with confusion. No one really knew what was going on.

"As a lot of you may know, Jessica and Sam have been working their asses off lately to try to foster/ adopt a young boy named Logan. Jessica fell in love with him from the day she met him. This journey to trying to help this little boy hasn't been easy at all. I hate to say that they've been given lots of hell since it isn't an easy process. But today I do come with some good news. Hopefully today your marriage isn't the only thing your signing off on today, because I have your official adoption papers right here in my hand."  He says holding up a white envelope.

Jessica then bursted into tears... it didn't even take a minute to sink in. Everyone was so shocked it worked.

Suddenly, everyone else began to cry, shout, cheer, and jump in the air.

"Dennis, don't fuck with me!" Jessica says wiping her tears.

"You're gonna be a mama again, jess!"

Jessica and Sam run to Dennis, give him endless hugs, and examine the court order.

"They signed off on it around one today."

"Babe, that's the exact time we were officially pronounced husband and wife!" Sam says

"It was, oh my god it was."

Sean and Olivia hug Sam and Jessica tight. they were crying too. There were so many years of joy.

"So I'm actually gonna be a big sister?" Olivia says

"Right after they sign off!"

"Dennis, a pen, we need a pen!" Jessica says anxiously

He hands her one and she begins to sign every line. Then Sam does the same.

"Jess, we have a son together!" Sam smiles

"We do! We do! We saved that boy, Sam." Jessica cries

"We all did." He says bringing Sean and Olivia in on the group hug.

"I think this family deserves a round of applause." Dennis says

Everyone claps and cries for the now family of five.

"When can we get him?" Sam asks

"Tomorrow... he's waiting."

"This is the best day ever!" Sean says

"I love you and Sam so much! I love all of you." Olivia says

"You three are the best thing that has ever happened to me."
