Back In The Game

The next morning Jessica started to wake up. Sam and Jessica were curled up together on the couch and the Tommy Boy movie was playing over again. Jessica got up trying not to wake up Sam. She walked into the kitchen and closed the kitchen door.

She leaned up against the door and just began to cry uncontrollably. Spending the night was Sam was so different for her. All she ever knew was Danny. She was confused on what she was doing. Dating was new to her and it made her nervous. Jessica still felt married. Even though the divorce was over, the marriage still didn't feel over. She really liked Sam but couldn't help but feel sad.

"He's a good man Jessica. Just take a deep breath and get over yourself!" Jessica says softly wiping her tears.

Jessica then starts a pot of coffee and begins making eggs. Right as she sets the eggs out the plate Sam walks in.

"Good morning." Jessica smiles softly

"Morning. What's this?" He says looking at the table that was set for breakfast.

"I thought I'd make some breakfast. Did you sleep okay?" Jessica says

"Your couch is actually really comfortable." Sam slowly starts to walk up to Jessica but she turns her body away from him, grinning.

"Well you can sit down and the toast will be ready soon."

Sam didn't respond. Right as Jessica turned around he kissed her on the lips.

"Oh!" She says nervously

"Sorry, That was-" sam stutters and his face turns red

"No! Don't apologize. It took me by surprise."

Sam rubs his head. "I don't know what I'm doing. Dating- it's all-"

"No, me too. I understand."

"I'm sorry!"

"Stop!"

Jessica sets down her plates and passionately kisses Sam. They stand there for a few seconds then Jessica breaks away from him.

"There!" She chuckles

Sam was speechless. "whoa-wow." He chuckles

"Obviously we are both a little iffy on dating. But who's judging us?" Jessica giggles

"You're right."

Sam then pushes Jessica up against the counter and kisses her again, but longer.

"Holy shit. I wasn't expecting that!" Jessica giggles

"You know what we need?"

"Huh?"

"A dating for dummies book."

"Ahhh, Yes!"

After dinner Jessica and Sam sat at table talking.

"Sam... I have a question." Jessica says nervously

"Yeah?"

"You said you're new with dating? How long has it been since youve been in a long term realtionship?"

"Ha, a while. Maybe two years?"

"Really?" Jessica widens her eyes

"Yeah... after my divorce I guess I just wasn't ready or over her."

"Oh, I understand."

"The Divorce was long and nasty too. My ex, Cynthia, she tried to rob my dry and take everything. It was just bad. I don't mean to bore you." Sam says

"Nah, it's okay. I'm sorry about that. Luckily my divorce went by quick. He just wanted to get away from me." Jessica sighs

"He's stupid."

"I wasn't enough for him. I get that."

"I don't... you're a wonderful woman Jessica."

"Well thank you."

"You deserve the world. Screw him."

"You are a great man."

"I appreciate that."

"Why did you two get a divorce if you don't mind me asking?"

"Well... What I thought was mine ended up not being mine."

Jessica widens her eyes... sam didn't specify but Jessica knew what he meant.

"Oh my god."

"She stayed with me so I could support her and the baby."

"Sam, no one deserves that."

"...So it took me a while to get back into the dating game. I dipped my toes in a few time to be honest. But nothing long term."

Before Sean and Olivia got home Sam was hurrying to leave so they didn't see him. Sam and Jessica decided that they wanted to not tell anyone that they were seeing each other.

"I'll talk to you soon?" Sam says walking to his truck.

"For sure." Jessica smiles

Exactly at twelve Sean and Olivia arrived home. They both looked drained, as if they hadn't slept. Jessica didn't think they did when she saw the looks on their faces.

They walked in through the back door connected to the kitchen while Jessica was doing work.

"Oh hey, you two!" Jessica giggles

"I'm so tired!" Sean sits down and puts his head on the table. Jessica rubs his back and chuckles

"Poor baby! If you would have stayed home and had a movie night you wouldn't be exhausted. You better get rest before your two o'clock shift."

"Damn, I forgot!" He growls

"It was still lots of fun." Olivia says

"That's good. Did aunt Ann feed you?"

"Nah, she didn't get sleep either. Twenty teenagers at your house all night? Hah!"

"That's why I don't let you two throw any parties." Jessica points her fingers

Sean stands up and walks over to the stink to get a drink of water. He then notices the dishes. There were two plates and two coffee cups. He gives Jessica a strange look.

"Ma?"

"Yes?"

"Are you eating for two or something?" He says picking up the two cups.

Jessica's face goes blank.

"Uhh. I didn't do the dishes from last night and this morning. That's all."

"Ahhh, Okay." Sean says suspiciously

"I'm pooped. I think I'm going to go rest." Olivia says

"Me too." Sean adds
