Anniversary
September 22-
That night Jessica couldn't sleep. She cried so much, it made it impossible for her to close her eyes. She felt sick, heartbroken, and scared. Danny was her first love. She poured her heart out to him and gave him everything he ever wanted. She thought she was doing everything right. They had a family together. He ruined that all. He ruined it for another women. Jessica kept thinking why he would do such a selfish thing. Why he would ever want to be unfaithful, what stared it, and why he let the marriage go on if he didn't love her anymore. It all felt fake.
The kids were shocked... Jessica didn't tell them he cheated, but they knew from overhearing them argue. They were heartbroken as well. Danny hadn't called the kids. He just left. He cancelled their phones, all of the credit cards, and took out everything from the savings before Jessica could touch it. Jessica didn't plan on touching it, she couldn't even think about it at that moment in time. She found out when she got a notification from the bank.
Dorthy stayed the night, Jessica was mentally unstable to take care of herself or the kids. Dorthy didn't want to leave the kids alone with Jessica either. Ever since Danny left Jessica would have moments of anger, and moments of complete sadness. She would ramble through the house and get rid of everything that was Danny's. In the middle of the night she burned most of his things. She had no remorse. Jessica didn't sleep in her bedroom, she slept in the guest room. It hurt too much to stay in the room were her and Danny made love and slept together. It made her want to vomit because she just thought about how it was all fake.
The thing that really hit hard was it was the day before their fifteenth wedding anniversary. It was crazy for Jessica to think that fifteen years ago she married him. The day they promised their life and love to each other. The day Danny said he would never hurt her or leave and and only planned to protect and love Jessica. That was all over now... Jessica would replay their wedding vows through her head. Danny had no feelings for how much he broke Jessica. Her heart ached in pain. This was something she could never forgive him for.
That morning//
"What do you kids want for breakfast? I can cook up some eggs and bacon?" Dorthy says walking into the living room.
Sean and Olivia sat there in silence as they listened to their mother sob from upstairs.
"Sure, do you want me to help you?" Sean stands up and shakes it off.
"Are you two okay? You can talk to me. I know it's hard to talk to your mother right now." Dorthy sits next to Olivia and hugs her.
"How could he do that to mom? How could he cheat?" Sean raises his voice.
"Shhh, Sean. Your mother doesn't think you know about that part." Dorthy whispers
"She screamed it yesterday." Olivia huffs and rolls her eyes.
"That's because she is hurting, Liv." Sean rolls his eyes at Olivia and turns away.
"I get that. But she can't let this ruin her. She's too good for that."
"Her husband of-" Sean stopped for a moment and turned to Dorthy and Olivia.
"Oh shit. Grandma, what day is it?" Sean adds
"Oh god" Olivia throws her head back when she realizes it's Danny and Jessica's anniversary.
"The twenty second... Oh Jesus, your poor mother." Dorthy covers her face.
"What an asshole." Sean crosses his arms and walks towards the living room window.
"Why don't we go cook your mother a nice breakfast. She hasn't eaten, and neither have you two." Dorthy stands up and helps Olivia get her crutches.
"Okay..."

The kids sat at the table eating breakfast while Dorthy started Jessica's. It was a very quite breakfast.
As they did what they did, they were startled by the sound of a bedroom door opening.
"Just be nice to your mother. Don't bring it up." Dorthy whispers
Jessica walks into the kitchen. Her hair was in a messy bun, she wore an oversized crew neck, and sweatpants that she wore when she was pregnant. Her crew neck had wet stains everywhere from her tears. Her eyes were red and glossy. Her nose was bright red.
Everyone looked at her when she came into the room. They had never seen Jessica like this. She took everything so hard. Jessica's body hung low from the lack of sleep she had gotten that night.
"Good morning mom. We have breakfast for you." Olivia smiles
Jessica gives Olivia the best smile she can give and turns to the coffee machine.
"Do you want your eggs scrambled?" Dorthy says
"I'm not hungry." Jessica says softly.
Her hands shook as she brought the warm coffee cup close to her lips.
"Darling, I'd feel better if you ate. Look at your body shaking."
"I'm shaking because I'm scared! I just can't eat." Jessica raises her voice then let's out a sigh.
Dorthy looked into Jessica's eyes and saw how broken she was. Jessica's lip quivered as she was just about to cry.
Jessica looked at the kids and covered her mouth.
"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry I wasn't enough for him." Jessica says in a shaky tone as she runs out the door and into the backyard.
Sean stands up to chase after his mother, but Dorthy stops him.
"Let her be. She needs to let it all out. She doesn't want you two to see her like this."
Sean nods and sits back down.
"I feel so bad." Olivia says
"I know..."

Sean stayed home from school to be with family. Dorthy and Sean cleaned around the house. The whole morning Jessica sat outside on the porch staring at the yard.
The doorbell rang a little bit later. Jessica had herd it from outside and she ran inside as Sean was about to open it.
"Mom?" Sean says as Jessica moves him aside.
"If it's your father I want to tell him I burned the last of his shit." Jessica sniffles and opens the door.
When she opens it Ann and Jane stood at the door with roses, balloons, and chocolates.
The balloons read Happy Anniversary
Jessica got sick to her stomach.
"Happy Anniversary Jessica and Danny." Ann yells
Dorthy stood behind Jessica and tried to tell them to stop.
"Oh god" Jessica fell to the ground and curled up into a ball. She started to sob.
"Oh my gosh Jessie, are you okay?" Jane says going down to the floor to help Jessica.
"Is everything okay? What's going on?" Ann looks around and sees that Dorthy, Sean, and the kids were speechless.
Jane wrapped her arms around Jessica as she cried louder and louder.
Dorthy told the kids to go into the other room as Jessica fell apart, again.
"Jessie, your body is shaking, your so warm." Jane says, worried for her little sister.
Every year Jessica and her siblings would surprise each other for their anniversaries. It was a tradition. Dorthy had totally forgot to tell Jane and Ann to not come.
"He left me." Jessica cries
Jane and Ann looked at each other then back at Dorthy who had tears flowing from her eyes.
They were shocked. They were blindsided. Jessica and Danny were always a strong couple. They never thought that this would ever happen.
"Jessie, I'm so sorry!" Ann says
"The asshole left yesterday. He doesn't want me anymore. He loves someone else. He packed up and left. He just left." Jessica picks her head up from Jane's arms and moves her hands around as she speaks.
"You don't deserve this. He doesn't deserve you. It's okay, you'll get through this."
"What if I don't? What if I can't?"
"You will. We will be here for you."
"He took everything. He cancelled everything. I have nothing."
Jane and Ann were speechless.
"We will help you." Jane reassures Jessica.
This was only the start of what would be considered hell to Jessica.
She felt so lost, so hurt, and so betrayed. It was all a lie to Jessica.
Why did he let it go on if he was so unhappy with me. What does she have that I don't have? I try so hard, I tried so hard.
