A Beautiful Service
A Week later:
Things were quite at home. No one really talked to each other and no one bothered Jessica. She went on with her day and took care of everyone. Made breakfast lunch and dinner, cleaned, and other things, but when she was all done she went right back up to her bed and stayed there until it was time for the next task.
The funeral was in a few days. It is going to be small and intimate. Everyone dreaded the day to come.
It was really hard on everyone, Sam was struggling too, but he had work to do. He had to "carry on" and make a living.
Olivia stayed with Danny a few days which was out of the ordinary. She needed an escape. She couldn't handle seeing her mother like this.
Logan was still a happy little boy. He was able to entertain himself and spent most of his day at school.
Jessica was recovering well from surgery and had a follow up appointment coming up.
Jessica was lost in her own thoughts. She had her sweet baby iyla on her mind and Sean. She wondered what Sean was doing every second and mind reading what he may be thinking of her. How she's a bad mother or totally forgot about him since she hasn't talked to him since December.
Jessica's pregnancy set off Sean. That was the root of the problems. Jessica didn't regret getting pregnant, she wanted to. But it cost her a relationship with her son. And now Jessica was not talking to her father. Jessica's mom has been over to help her since the loss and was there when she lost Iyla, but that was it.
Things were still awkward.

Everyone was gone. The kids were at school and Sam was outside working at his market at the end of their driveway.
Jessica laid in her bed alone and cuddled up with the blanket iyla was wrapped in. She was frozen and hadn't moved since breakfast. Her eyes were wide open and dry. She couldn't cry anymore.
She dreaded getting in the shower and cleaning herself up for the doctor appointment at the hospital. She never wanted to step into another hospital again. It felt impossible.
Jessica's phone began to ring. It was her father calling. She stared at her phone for a while and thought about answering it, but she couldn't bare to.
"Fuck off." She says to the phone. She grabs it and throws it across the room. it shattered everywhere. Jessica didn't care.

It is noon and time for Jessica's appointment. Sam changed into clean clothes then helped Jessica get dressed. It was still painful for her to do everyday tasks.
"You look beautiful." He says looking into her lifeless eyes. They had lost their sparkle and light.
He holds her cheeks in his hands and she gives him a soft smile.
"Are you ready?" He says
"If I have to be."
//-//
"Everything looks good, Jessica. You're healing well, everywhere." He says
"Okay..." she says
"Really. How are you guys doing?"
Sam sighs "We've been down. It's only been a week and this weekend is the funeral so we are holding up." Sam sighs
"I want medicine." Jessica says
Sam and the doctor look at Jessica with wide eyes.
"Antidepressants, something. My kids need me and I'm tired of being in bed all day. I'm tired of the pain in my heart. I can't take it."
"I can do that for you..." the doctor says
When they walk out of the hospital Sam reached for Jessica's hand and holds it.
"Jess, I know how you feel." Sam says
"It sucks..." she cries
"But we will get through this. I know we will." He stops and looks at her.
"I don't think I can do the funeral." Jessica shakes her head
"I know, but we have too. We have to lay her to rest. I think it will be good for us. What else will be good for us is talking about it... I'll take off from work and we will spend the whole day together just talking or laying in bed. I don't want us to do this alone anymore because frankly, I can't do it alone."
Without saying anything, Jessica jumps into Sam's arms and he holds her closely as they both share an emotional moment together and cry.
"Sam..." she says
"Yes?"
"Can we stop and get me a new phone?"
She asks
"A new phone?"
"I shattered mine this morning."
Sam chuckles a little and nods his head. "Okay, phone store it is."

The day of the funeral:
Everyone woke up pretty gloomy and sad. It was the day that Sam and Jessica were going to bury their baby. Jessica was emotional and so was Sam. But they said they would stick together and not go through this alone.
They all wore that black dresses and suits.
"Mommy, can you tie my tie?" Logan asks walking into their room.
"Sure baby.... look how handsome you are." Jessica kneels down and smiles at her little boy.
"You look very pretty." He says
"Thank you." She says with a tearful smile
"Don't be sad, mommy. Be happy that she's with god. My baby sister told me to make sure you're okay."
"She did?" Jessica says
"Yes. When I close my eyes I see a little sister."
Jessica tears up and gives Logan a big hug.
"You're the best little kid." Sam says
"Thanks daddy."

When they arrive all of Jessica's family was there. Nobody else. They wanted it to be small and meaningful and not too overwhelming.
As they got out of the car they saw Dorthy but no Albert.
"Well, my dad isn't here." She whispers to Sam
"I'm sorry."
"No, it's fine. I told him I didn't want to see him." She says
"Are you guys ready?" Sam's has looking In the back
"Yes. Let's go." Olivia says getting out of the car.

They were at the gravesite and when Jessica saw the tiny casket she wanted to scream. Sam held her as they went to greet the family, Jessica didn't wait another second. She walked right to the casket and put her body on top and cried.
Sam rushed to Jessica as she started to cry. Olivia came along with him and they together wrapped their arms around Jessica.
"She was just a tiny baby. She deserved a life just like everyone else. Just because she had disabilities doesn't mean she should lose a chance at life." She yells
Jessica's sister and mother then follow after her. Even her brother George. They all stand together with Jessica as a united family.
"She'll be okay, Jessica. You just have to let her go." Ann says
"I'm sorry, Jessie. I can't imagine the pain." Jane says
"We love you all." Dorthy says

The priest begins after Jessica had calmed down. There were four rows of chairs. Jessica's nieces and nephews were all there as well. There was a lot of support.
During the service everyone in each row held hands and bowed their heads.
It ended up being a beautiful service. Jessica and Sam were very pleased with everything.
As they were walking back to their car Jessica saw her father standing at his car and watching from a distance.
"I'll meet you guys at the car." Jessica says
Jessica walks towards her father and gives him a soft smile. Jessica was tired of the fighting.
As she walks closer she seems somebody get out of the car. When she sees who it is her jaw drops and tears run down her face. She couldn't believe who it was.
