Short Story #2

Ayano, who was twelve during this and she was unconscious after being beat by one of the guys again, and she was in a bed that was in the dorms.
It was one big room for guys and girls. Talk about everything being out in the open.

Dominic was in there, and so was Rue. He sat with the little girl as he saw Aya. This had been the third time that week that she had lost a fight. Even he had to admit, she was the weakest one there. And that scared him, because if she didn't make the cut, then they'd kill her. And keep her dead this time.

Rue sat on the edge as her brown hair was rested on her shoulders. She was a African American girl who had grown very close with Ayano. She was like her big sister. "Is she going to be okay, Dom?" She asked as she looked at the girl who was unconscious.

Dominic looked at the little girl. "I don't know, I hope so."

Later...

Ayano woke up, and after Dominic and Rue went to sleep, she woke up in the middle of the night and she went into the training room and she saw a bow, some arrows and targets. So, she picked up the bow, and she dropped it since it was heavy, and it was her first time using one. She picked it up again, and she grabbed a quiver as she put it around her neck and on her shoulders. She went up to a target, and she shot the arrow, but it was way off. She got frustrated, then she took another arrow, and she shot again.

It was harder than it looked.

Then, she decided that she would build her muscle up first. Since, Dominic said that she was weak. She had no muscle. So, she would have to build it before she could even pick it up.

She then for two weeks, trained herself harder than anyone. She got faster, she got stronger. And she got tougher. She had a lot of scars, scars in places someone her age shouldn't have, but she did.

She was throwing knives at a target right now, and she was better at this than she was at the guns, and archery at the moment.

Rue looked amused and she smirked. "Your kind of good at this." She told her older sister and she looked when one of the others wasn't doing so well.

Dimitri was watching them train, and he came up behind James who was throwing like a little girl. Even Sunobu was stronger than him, now. When he threw he scoffed. "That was weak." He said mockingly to the 'man' as he watched along with Dominic.

James looked at Dimitri. "My hand slipped." He said then looked at the man like he was insane when he told him to go get it. "While they're still throwing?" He asked like he was a legit crazy person.

"What, you afraid?" Dimitri asked mockingly again at the weakling.

"Of getting hit by an air borne knife, yeah."

Dimitri thought of something. "Everybody stop!" He shouted to the others as they stopped throwing the knives.

Ayano looked curious at the guy when he told them to stop. What exactly was he doing? She didn't know, but by now she knew that it was nothing good.

Dimitri told James to go stand in front of the target. "I'm going to throw these, if I see you flinch, your out." He said and he was about to throw a knife before he heard someone he found very annoying speak up.

"Stop." Ayano spoke up as she looked at Dimitri. Nobody there had stood up to him before, so this was a big deal for her. "Anybody can stand in front of a target, it doesn't prove anything." She stated simply as she looked at their 'leader'.

Dimitri looked at the girl, hiding his annoyance. "Then it should be easy for you to take his place." He said in a challenging tone as he looked at the raven haired brat.

Ayano with just a small moment of hesitation, went up to the target that James was at and she stood in front of it. The twelve year old was smaller, than James.

But, that didn't mean that she didn't have anything to worry about.

"Same rules apply." Dimitri said and just to be a crap head, he made Dominic do it with her. Just because he knew how close they had gotten.

Dominic swallowed, but he didn't really have a choice. And he was a good throw, so he threw one that was just barely not next to her arm.

"Come on, Dom." Dimitri said to him in complaint.

"Want me to give her a trim?"

"Yeah, just along the top."

Dominic nodded his head and he threw the knife again, and this time it was just right above the head.

"You can get closer than that."

And during all of this, Ayano didn't flinch. Not even a muscle, not even a little. She was determined to be brave during this. And she was determined to keep fighting. She didn't know how she felt about him being the one throwing knives at her, though.

Dominic nodded at Dimitri and he threw the knife again. And this time, it was right next to her ear, drawing some blood from the outside of the ear.

"Points for bravery, stiff. But not as much as you lost for opening your mouth." Dimitri said and he looked around at them, once again having to use Ayano as an example for the rest. "We're training you to be soldiers, not rebels. Respect that." He shouted before he walked out.
