Chapter 28
Hello! Sorry for not updating for so long...I've been super busy getting ready for the trip I'm leaving on Friday for; And I've kind of been a little TOO obsessed with BBC Sherlock at the moment. Anyway, here is a short chapter, enjoy!
Its been a few weeks since Cinna left for the Capitol, and his absence didn't leave as big of a space in my life as I originally thought. After that terrifying night when I almost jumped off my roof, Peeta never left my side; He even insisted we move in together, to which I immediately agreed. He was always there to make sure I was safe, and even though it was kind of annoying not having any alone time, it showed me how much he cares. Eventually Peeta started to let me have my own space and I started to hunt again, he began building the new bakery, and for some odd reason, Haymitch started to take care of geese to occupy his time. When he brought the first one over to Peeta and I's house, we were doubled over in laughter at his idea, earning a glare from Haymitch. However, Haymitch being Haymitch, ignored our doubts and bought 2 more.
Right now, it's 10pm, the night before Peeta's 18th birthday. Its hard to think that we technically aren't legal adults, but we've gone through so much trauma and pain, that it feels like we're about 10 years older then we really are. I'm lost in thought, leaning against the kitchen counter, when Peeta comes up to me with a big smile on his face.
"What?" I ask, failing at suppressing my own grin.
"Oh, nothing. You just looked so adorable lost in thought."
I roll my eyes in response, but my grin stays plastered on my face. Peeta wraps his arms around my waist while mine snake around his neck. He pulls me close and we stay there for a while, not talking, just enjoying each others company. I pull my head away from his chest and press my lips to his. He kisses back, pulling away to breathe. We smile at each other again before I pull him upstairs into our room. I let go of his hand and grab one of his t-shirts and some pajama shorts before entering the bathroom to change. When I exit the bathroom, I find Peeta laying in bed already. Grinning to myself, I run and jump on the bed, into his arms, earning a smile from Peeta.
"Excited?" He questions with a smirk.
"Maybe."
"And why is that?"
"Because it's a certain someone's birthday tomorrow!"
"Oh, okay," he chuckles before pulling me flush against his body and wrapping me in his arms. I fall asleep soon after.
I ended I here so the next chapter is Peeta's birthday.
Until next time, May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor...
