Chapter 10
Hey, guys! Happy Thanksgiving/Happy Hanukkah (if you celebrate those holidays...)
------------------------------------
I open my eyes and see Haymitch sitting in the chair in the corner snoring quite loudly. I laugh and it wakes him up. "What? Why are you laughing?" He asks while giving me a confused look. "You!" I exclaim, "I was laughing at how loud you were snoring." "You were pretty loud, I heard you from down the hall," Peeta says from the doorway. Haymitch just glares at us and leaves the room. When he leaves I giggle at the look he gave us. "Someone's happy," Peeta states while grinning at me. "Apparently! When do you want to start the book?" I say still smiling. "We could start today if you want, I brought the stuff with me," Peeta replies while staring down at the supplies in his hands. I nod my head and scoot over so he can sit on the very large bed next to me. He carefully sits next to me and pulls out a pencil. I'm snapped out of my trance of watching him by the clearing of Peeta's throat. I instantly turn bright red, look away and mumble an apology. He chuckles and asks, " Who do you want to start with?" "Umm, we can start with your family, if its okay with you." He nods and puts the pencil to the paper and starts to draw. I close my eyes and lean my head back while he is drawing. For some unknown reason, I start to sing the Valley Song and am reminded of how Peeta says he fell in love with me. I open my eyes to look at him and notice he is smiling with tears in his eyes. "Hey, if it's too hard to start with your family, we can do someone else," I say suddenly worried that I upset him. "No, its okay. It's just your voice is so beautiful," He says looking away to hid his blush, but I still see it. Once he recovers he continues to draw and I continue to sing, both of us lost in our own little worlds. We both look up, though, when Haymitch comes is smirking. "What?" I snap, confused and offended for no real reason. "Nothin'," Haymitch replies arrogantly. I glare at him before I turn my attention to Peeta's drawing. I gasp and he looks up with worried eyes. "What?" He asks in a small voice. I grab the book and study the drawing of his father. "This is so beautiful and absolutely amazing," I reply. "Thanks." He smiles from ear to ear and I smile back. "Aww, look at that," Haymitch sarcastically gushes. I shot him a look and he leaves the room. Once he closes the door behind him, I turn to Peeta and ask, "Do you want me to write?" Peeta just smiles, nods and hands me the pencil. I write in my best handwriting everything we know about the late baker. Peeta draws and I write for the rest of the afternoon and we are finished with his family by 9 o'clock. When he leaves to go home, I feel something in my chest and after giving myself a headache from thinking of what could possibly going on, the answer finally dawns on me. I'd witnessed it so many times back in District 13. I miss him, I think to myself before I fall asleep only to be haunted by a nightmare filled abyss.
