I Really Really Like You

Niall's POV:

I had talked to Avery about going out tonight and she was quick to agree. She told me she would drive to Mady and Leah's to pick me up since she knew I didn't have a car and I didn't feel like asking Mady for hers.

I saw Avery pull up into the driveway, so I said bye to everyone and walked out the front door. She hopped out of her side and walked around to meet me and threw her arms around me. That kind of caught me off guard, but I liked it.

"Hey." She smiled and hugged my neck.

"Hey." I smiled back and hugged her waist. Have I ever mentioned she smelled like watermelon? I never thought I would like the smell, but on her it was amazing.

She pulled away from me and I looked her up and down. She had on, what looked like, a baby blue dress with a black leather jacket over it. I noticed she looked a little taller and when I looked down she was wearing at least two inch heels.

"You look amazing." I commented. She blushed and a piece of her curled hair fell in her face. I pushed it back behind her ear and she looked up.

"Thanks." I smiled and nodded.

"Should we get going?" I asked and she nodded. I climbed in her tiny car and strapped in as she started off down the road.

"So what are we doing?" she asked as we turned the corner.

"Well, I found this restaurant and I made reservations for us." I explained.

"You made reservations, or Mady did?" She laughed. Seems like she knows me better than I thought.

"Ugh. Mady did. I had to ask for her help because I didn't know what you would want." I shamefully admitted.

"I eat anything, and everything." She laughed again, "So you could pick anything and I'd be perfectly happy with it." She smiled over at me and then looked back to the road.

"There it is." I pointed in front of us at the medium sized building suppose to be the best restaurant in the area.

"I've always wanted to try this place, but none of my friends could afford it." she told me as she parked the car. I hopped out and rushed to her side opening the door for her. She smiled at me when I offered her to take my arm, which she did without a second thought.

We walked in and up to the lady behind the counter.

"Hello what's the name?" she looked back and forth between Avery and I till someone talked.

"Horan." I said. She looked down the list until she found our name and marked through it.

"Right this way." she smiled at us and led us through the middle of the building and out the back door to the patio. "Is this okay?" she asked as we stood in front of a table set for two.

"Perfect." I smiled at her as she sat our menus down, but I stopped her, "We wont be needing menus, thank you though." She nodded collecting them in her hands again and walked back out the way she came. I helped Avery into her chair which earned a quiet thank you and she brought all of her hair over one shoulder.

"What do you mean we won't be needing menus?" Avery asked.

I smirked leaning forward and folding my hands together, "Mady might have made the reservations, but I worked out a special menu just for us." I winked. The smile on her face grew even bigger.

"Wow, Niall. This is...this is amazing." She looked around at all the lights strung above our heads and out at the rose bushes on the inside of the small fence.

She was stunning.

"Hello." a gruff voice cut through my thoughts. We both turned our heads to the side and saw one of the lead chefs. "I'm Alberto and I will be preparing and serving your meal. Would you like the appetizers now?"

I looked at Avery and she looked up at the man and nodded.

"It'll be right out." He smiled and walked back to the kitchen.

"What's on our 'Special Menu'?" Avery asked using the air quotes.

"You will just have to wait and see." I laughed. She huffed and rolled her eyes. I looked pass her and saw Alberto carrying a tray over to us.

"Close your eyes." I told Avery. She narrowed her eyes at me.

"Why?"

"Just close your eyes." This time she did and rested her arms on the table.

Alberto placed the tray in the middle of us and nodded before walked away. Avery took a breath in her nose and smiled.

"It already smells really good." She laughed. I took my fork and cut off a bite size piece of the biscuit shaped thing.

"Open your mouth." I said. She did just that and I placed the fork in her mouth. The took biscuit off the fork and chewed it up.

"Mmm, that's really good, "She paused, "and warm. Can I open my eyes?"

I laughed, "Yeah." She opened her eyes and looked down at the table.

"What are these?" She took one between her fingers and tor it apart.

"Traditional cheese gougeres." I miss enunciated the words making her laugh. This girl laughs at everything, and I love it.

"Well, they are delightful." She said as she took another bite. I took one as well, and I had to agree. These were amazing.

"So how long are you here for?" She asked as she finished off what was in her hand.

"I think we about a week left." I said. Her face seemed to sadden and looked down at the table.

"So we only get to hang out together for a week?" She asked. I can tell by how she said that that it was a little awkward. But I understand because I don't want to leave. I just nodded and reached for another gouger.

Alberto walked out of the kitchen and over to our table. "Are you ready for your entrée?" I looked at Avery and the smile returned to her face.

"Yes please." He nodded and took the now empty tray off the table. Once he was gone I scooted over a little closer to Avery. She raised an eyebrow and laughed.

"Scoot over." I said, and she did. We were right next to each other now, so close that our legs brushed each other.

"So tell me some things about your self." I smiled and rested my elbows on the table.

"What do you want to know? I've already told you everything." She smiled and leaned back in her seat.

I thought about it for a minute, "Anything. Have you traveled anywhere?"

"Oh, well for my senior year spring break, my cousin and I went to Australia. For my uncles business trip we all went to a ski resort for like a week. That was pretty awesome. I went on a mission trip to visit the schools suffering from poverty in Honduras." she took a breath. "I think that's it."

Until now I almost forgot she had lived with her aunt and uncle for about five years until she left for uni. I nodded and sat back too.

"So what did you do in Australia?"

"Tried surfing, but that was an epic fail, so we just decided to take a yacht out." She smiled and took a drink of her wine.

I saw Alberto head our way with both plates in hand. I turned back to Avery and smirked.

"Close your eyes." She smiled and, once again, closed her eyes.

The plates were placed in front of us and as the chef walked away I cut off a bite of steak stabbing my fork through it.

"Open up." I smiled, she did as I instructed and I put the fork in her mouth. She took a while to chew it up, her eyes still closed, but once she swallowed it her eyes popped open.

"That is probably the best piece of meat I have ever had." She laughed, and I burst out laughing too. "What is it?"

I huffed trying to remember the complicated French name, "Stake au Poivre with...herbed frites?"

"I'm guessing you never learned French?" She smiled as she cut into the juicy steak.

"I use to speak it pretty often, but it just kind of left me I guess." I shrugged and dug in to my food as well.

"Niall, this is amazing. You did a good job of choosing the menu." She blushed.

"Just wait till dessert." I winked.

~

"This has probably been the best dinner I have ever had." Avery smiled at me as she wiped her mouth then placed the napkin back in her lap.

"Well dessert is on its way." I wiggled my eyebrows which made her laugh again.

"I'm guessing I have to close my eyes?" She asked and scooted closer to the table. I nodded my head and she put a hand over her eyes. Alberto sat the tray of sweets down and walked off once again.

I took a nice big straw berry between my fingers, dipping it in the small bowl of warm chocolate. I made sure it wasn't dripping as I placed it in her mouth. She bit some of it off and uncovered her eyes, still chewing it up.

"How did you know I liked strawberry's?" She asked, dipping another.

I shrugged, "I'm just that good."

She rolled her head back and laughed, "I highly doubt that." She held the strawberry up to my mouth, "Open up." she whispered. I don't think she intended it to sound so sexy, but it defiantly turned me on.

I did as she was told me to so she could spoon feed me like I did her. She placed it in my mouth and once I took a bite she placed the stem back on the plate.

"Those are good." I commented. She bit her lip and nodded her head. I had noticed we were slowly leaning in closer together, our faces becoming closer.

"Avery, I really...really like you." I whispered.

"I really really like you too." she answered back.

Before my mind could catch up with my mouth a few words slipped out.

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

She stayed quiet a few seconds before blinking a few times and smiling, nodding her head.

"Yes."

I smiled and leaned in closer to her, placing a kiss on her lips. I pulled away, and she opened her eyes smiling.

"I've been wanting you to do that for a long time now." She blushed. I moved a few strands of hair out of her eyes and smiled back.

"And I'd be glad to do it again." I puled her face closer and connected our lips once again.
