The boys in the woods {1}

The young boys wander their way through the forests of the dark island.

"Are you guys sure about this? I heard that this is the place the overlord came from," The younger of the three teenage boys asked cautiously.

"What's the mater Mian 'you scared'?" Another boy teased.

"Yes! And for good reason! This is a bad idea!" The youngest shouted scaring off some birds.

"He's right Baraz. This place is dangerous. Plus what did mom say about bullying our younger brother?" The eldest of the three looked back to his brothers who, like him, have black hair and relatively dark skin, for residents of Ninjago City.

Baraz rolled his eyes and looked away from the elder. "It's not like he's her favorite or anything," he mumbled to himself.

"Yeah, um Jahan. If it's so dangerous... Why are we out here!?" Mian shouted waving his hands to express his anger more. He was a very animated person.

"Because this place has to have a history of some kind or it wouldn't be mentioned in so many legends. The thing about the legends is that they never say anything about it. Why wouldn't there be anything about the island unless someone is trying to hide something?" Jahan pushed through some branches of a tree gesturing for his brothers to follow. "Pluss Baraz you're Dad's favorite so quit your complaining."

"Good thing I'm the favorite of the parent that's never around," Baraz said dryly.

"I mean it's not like dad has to work all the time to keep us fed and off the streets or anything." The youngest shrugged sarcastically. "No-"

"Mian," Jahab said warningly stopping to look back at his brother.

The youngest continued on ignoring his eldest brother. "-let him be the stay on the streets dad. Then he can waste all the time in the world on us."

Baraz grabbed the front of his younger brother's shirt. "Listen here you little shit! Dad wouldn't have to work so hard if-"

"Enough both of you!" Jahan shouted over his brother.

"No. Spit it out already I know you've been thinking it my whole life. So say it already." Mian said not taking his eyes of the middle brother.

"He would never have to work so hard if mom never had you," Baraz spat venomously.

"There. You said it. You feel better about yourself now?" The youngest asked a bit of darkness in his voice.

Baraz raised a fist as Jahan pulled them apart. The middle brother controlled by anger swung anyway. Jahan fell face-first into the dirt bringing the two other boys back into reality.

     "Jahan!"

     "I'm sorry I wasn't thinking!"

Jahan stood pushing away both brothers that came to his aid. "You're both insufferable!" He points to his younger brother. "The fact that you've been coddled by mom our whole lives shows in your blatant disregard of the consequences of your actions."

     Mian shrunk in on himself.

The eldest turned to the middle child. "You don't have that excuse. You just ignore the consequences of your actions." A slight fog of purple manifested around the eldest's feet.

     Mian shook in fear.

"Jahan," Baraz said terror clearly evident in his voice.

"No!" The eldest shouted the fog rising around him higher. "I'm so sick and tired of both of your bitching! I'm done putting up with it! So just get out of my sight!" The fog had enveloped his full form as the ground cracked beneath him.

"Jahan!" Mian screamed as the ground gave out beneath the eldest's feet. Baraz rushed to try to help his older brother to late. The boy had fallen through.

Baraz looked down to see his older brother unconscious with his leg twisted at an unnatural angle. A black figure in the corner of his vision started to glow a deep purple. He ignored the figure worrying about nothing but his brother. "Jahan!" He screamed tears stinging at his eyes.

"This is all my fault," Baraz said so quietly the wind struggled to hear it. "It always is." Tears streamed down the middle child's face.

"W-w-what is that." The youngest shuttered out.

Baraz looked back to the black figure to see its snake-like eyes were glowing the same purple that had enveloped his brother.

     "Is that-"

"A dragon." Baraz finished his younger brother.

The dragon stretched much like a cat then shook like a wet dog. It saw the eldest brother then went to approach the boy slowly. As it came to the eldest the light shined down on the vengestone chains that wrapped around the dragon.

Baraz would have felt bad for the thing had it not been standing over his helpless brother. He scrambled around looking for the nearest thing. He grabbed a rock raised it over his head then froze. His brother's words filtered through his head. He set the rock down stood and grabbed his younger brother's arm and proceeded to drag him away.

"Wait. Baraz we have to help him!" Mian struggled against Baraz's grip.

"How!?" The older one stopped in his tracks. "What can we do against a dragon!?" He took a deep breath and let it out shakily. "We need to think very carefully about this. We need to get someone who can actually help."

     "Who can fight a dragon!?"

Please. Protect them. A woman's voice. It seems so far away. They're young and don't know the consequences. Who? You're the only one that even tries to listen. They've been lied to please tell them the truth the peace talks are just that. Peace? I don't understand. You're the only one that gives me a chance. I beg that you give them one as well. I don't understand.

I will tell them. His voice sounds... warmly familiar. That doesn't make any sense.

Thank you. I will forever be indebted to you and your family. She responds warmly then chuckles. Her laugh sounds so beautiful. Forgive me I don't even know your name.

I don't know yours either or your title. If you even have one. Is he teasing her?

You first. She says almost sadly.

Master of Earth. What!? But I'm-

Mother of the-

I jerk awake. That dream again? I look down at my hands. They're solid. I have to keep reminding myself of that every once and a while. I get down off of the bed quietly so as to not wake my teammates.

I walk down the hall absentmindedly.

'Cole' I turn to the side to see Wu's empty room. 'Even the sun must go down for a new day to begin.'

"When will morning come?" I mumble quietly to myself.

"You're not the only one that sees him around every corner," Misako's quiet voice reaches my ears.

"I know." I walk past the room and head to the attic. I take a deep breath and start meditating.

"You only come up here when you want to talk or train," Yang's voice echos through the attic. "So which is it."

I open my eyes and stand. "I need to hit something."

I had it written I just forgot to publish it... Sorry.
