Chapter Thirteen

The house was ghostly quiet the whole day. Angus stayed in his room. I asked Brian about it and he excused it as being tired from his night before, 'fling in the ring' as he called it. I knew that wasn't true, but I didn't question him anymore. You idiot, they're hiding something from you! Go find out what it is!  We were left to entertain ourselves and for me that meant staying outside in the sunshine. I kept to the backyard for privacy and walked around a bit. Every once in a while I'd think of something funny and laugh and dance around the yard. Just having a good time.

Angus watched Hannah entertain herself in the backyard through his bedroom window. He wasn't stalking her or anything, he didn't even want to see her. He looked out the window to take his mind off the stress and there she was happy as ever. "She'd be happier if you were with her," Bon said lying back on the bed, eyes closed. Angus closed the curtain.

"Real funny," he muttered in disgust. He sat on the edge of the bed and put his head in his hands.

"It's not too late you know," Bon said looking at him.

"It is for me."

"Not just to tell her."

"But it won't mean anything to her. It's not like we can pick up where we left off and she's just gonna leave again."

"Which is why you should-"

"She's just gonna leave again." Bon sighed.

"Seems to me you've been given another chance. You know, to properly tell her."

"Just one more time to let each other know it's never gonna happen." Angus sighed in frustration. "I wish she would just fucking leave already."

"You don't mean that-"

"You know what Bon? I do mean that. And you know what else? I wish you would just leave me alone too. I've got enough on my shoulders." Angus closed his eyes for a moment and opened them to an empty room. Bon had left.

He lay back on the bed where Bon had been and let his mind wander. The stress from all these recent events were weighing down on him. There had to have been a way to get rid of it, nothing was working so far. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. No. There was no way he was doing that.

But he did.
