Chapter 16
"Where is she?"
The soft click of the classroom door closing behind him is heard as Mr.Jeon leaves his room full of students behind and steps into the hall. He takes in a calming breath and finally locks eyes with a face looking at him with nothing but fury; one that he once called his friend. He side glances at the principal who had clearly accompanied Hyunji's parents to his class, his forehead wrinkled with worry about the situation he had clearly just found out about.
"I don't know." Mr.Jeon replies with no expression. "They didn't come to class today,"
"You-" Sunho takes a step towards his old friend, his jaw clenched as he points a finger, "Don't you dare lie to me right now, Junseo. Tell me where she is!"
"I said I don't know." Jungkook's father replies with a firm voice, his glare just as strong as Sunho's as his wife stood behind him, looking more frightened than furious compared to her husband.
"Mr.Jung, Mr.Jeon has confirmed he doesn't know-" the principal began before watching Sunho shove Junseo aside, reaching for the door handle. No one is able to stop him before he swings the door open, the chitchat of the students within the classroom suddenly coming to a hush as they stare back at him, startled.
"See," Junseo mutters, "She's not inside, nor is Jungkook. I don't know where they are."
He then grabs Sunho's arm and pulls him back to shut the classroom door, Sunho shoving his hand away right after as he looked nothing but infuriated.
"I'm going to find her." Sunho speaks, his voice low as he glares.
Junseo almost laughs, "And do what, huh? They're both legal adults now. You can't do shit."
He watches Sunho's jaw clench in anger, his eyes burning into him. And with nothing else left to say, Sunho turns on his heel, walking away with the principal attempting to catch up to him. Junseo's eyes then fall onto Hyunji's mother, sadness shown in her eyes.
"Is she safe at least?" she asks softly, and Junseo's features soften as he replies.
"She is. Don't worry."

The whole car ride was silent, nothing but the quiet sound of the engine, and the occasional honk in traffic as Jungkook attempted to get them as far from the school as possible. He didn't even notice how his left leg would bounce each time that they would come to a stop at a traffic light, his mind flickering back to the moment he had seen his in-laws at school, and the anxiety in Hyunji's eyes ever since he had broken the news to her. And now she sat in complete silence in the seat next to him, her arm perched on the arm rest to hold her head as she stared out the window.
Whether she noticed or not, he couldn't help but let his eyes draw to her.
The feeling in his gut told him that he just had to do something. And if he didn't then she would be gloomy for the rest of the day.
Or maybe the next few days.
With the silence eating up at him, he couldn't help but interrupt.
"Did you eat anything earlier?"
She doesn't even glance his way as she replies.
"No."
"Should we stop somewhere to eat then?" he asks, slowing the car down as the traffic light ahead turns red. He looks her way and sees her slightly shake her head.
"I just want to go home, if that's okay."
Only wanting to do whatever was going to make her feel better, Jungkook complies and lets the silence consume the car once more.
She doesn't say much when they get home either. Instead, she sets her backpack down by the single desk along the wall and heads to the closet to grab a change of clothes before going to the washroom to change. Jungkook on the other hand moves to the kitchen and settles on making a sandwich to satisfy his hunger. But by the time he's finished, and walks around the island with two plates in hand, he notices the lump under the bedsheets and her shut eyes.
- - -
"Hey, what are you doing?"
Jungkook heard the soft shuffling of the bedsheets and the creek of the hardwood floors before Hyunji had joined his side, rubbing the sleepiness out of her eyes. He looked over his shoulder from where he sat at the desk, the apartment room only illuminated by the desk lamp as he sat hunched over a textbook.
"Studying," he answered, "At least trying to."
"What time is it?"
"Almost seven."
Her lips formed a deep frown, looking more like a pout with her puffy lips from sleep and dishevelled hair.
"I slept that long?"
Jungkook nods a reply.
Brushing her fingers through her hair and still looking around with droopy eyes, Hyunji puffs out some air.
"I'll join you after I freshen up." she mutters before beginning to head towards the bathroom across the room.
"By the way, If you're hungry, I made you a sandwich." Hyunji momentarily stops and looks back at him,"It's on the kitchen counter."
"Okay,"
It only takes Hyunji a few minutes to freshen up and join him at the desk, placing the sandwich plate down and pouting.
"You took the good chair."
Jungkook glances up at her from the textbook, his lips curving up at the unexpected comment.
"What?"
"You took the good chair." she repeats, referring to the comfortable spinny desk chair that she liked. It was the one that was most appropriate for her height, considering she could adjust it, and definitely more pleasant for long hours of studying.
"Yeah, and I also got here first." he grins, leaning back.
Hyunji frowns, crossing her arms, "The other one is too short for the desk."
"Maybe you're just too short."
Jungkook chuckles and grins even more when Hyunji shoves his shoulder at his comment.
"Can you take the other chair?"
"No, I got here first."
"Jungkook," Hyunji whines, "Please~"
Out of spite, Jungkook shakes his head.
"Its first come first serve."
"Why are you being so annoying!"
"I'm not! You're being a baby about it."
Hyunji's brows furrow as her arms cross over her chest, glaring as Jungkook is tempted to just laugh.
"Fine, just sit on my lap then."
His offer catches her off guard, her eyes briefly widening as a slight pink brushes her cheeks by just the thought of it.
"No." she deadpans before throwing her head back and groaning in annoyance. She gives him a glare and heads towards the chairs that surround the dinner table, Jungkook watching her with amusement.
"What? You've sat on my lap before. Didn't hear a complaint back then," he smirks as she grabs one of the chairs.
"Shut up." she grumbles, beginning to drag it over to him, still looking very unhappy. But in a way it made Jungkook relieved that she wasn't thinking about the events of earlier that day.
"I'm just saying," he replies, holding his hands up as she unhappily plops down on the plastic chair and crosses her legs over it, reaching for her sandwich soon after.
They fall silent for a few minutes, Jungkook turning back to the textbook questions he was using to practise for tomorrow's math test as Hyunji munches on her meal, still feeling groggy after her unexpected nap.
Her initial intention was to take a nap, and let her mind rest, but unfortunately her mind couldn't catch that break that she wanted. Rather, it thought of everything that could probably happen, and whether she was safe to go to school, or if the school could possibly hand her over to her parents. Sure she was a legal adult now, but that didn't necessarily mean she was safe, did it?
With her mind running a marathon, she lay curled up under the sheets, hoping that Jungkook would think she was asleep just so she could think things through. And apparently it worked until she eventually drifted off to sleep even with all the pent up anxiety.
Hyunji took another bite of her sandwich, pushing her thoughts aside and attempting to focus on watching Jungkook study instead, noticing the frustration written along his features.
"What's wrong?" she finally asks after observing the way that he would puff out some air and erase what he had just written.
Jungkook sighs, putting his pencil down and glancing at her.
"I don't understand shit." he mutters, brushing his fingers through his hair as he slumps in his chair. "I'm going to fail tomorrow's test, again."
"You don't know that."
"I can't even get through five of the easier questions."
Hyunji puts her sandwich down and sifts a little closer to peer at his notebook.
"Can I see?" she asks and Jungkook pushes it towards her. She scans over the scribbles along the page, finding his handwriting a little difficult to decipher, but still managing to figure out the errors from the questions.
"You're plugging in the wrong values," she begins gently, taking his pencil and pointing at the numbers of the equation. "These ones are put in to just throw you off. You should be using these ones instead," she then points at the other values written in the question.
"Well fuck," he mutters under his breath, turning the notebook back to him so he could erase his work for the nth time. "I just don't get it though," he begins as he scribbles on the new digits, "Why these, and not the others? It makes no fucking sense."
With the way that his brow was creased in frustration and attempting to write down the new equation a little bit more aggressively, Hyunji could tell that he was growing tired and losing his patience with the homework they were given. She could tell he was upset and perhaps putting himself down for not understanding and it made her guts twist in pity.
"Do you want me to explain it to you?" she finally asks after a moment and he finally looks at her, his features softening.
"Yes please."
So Hyunji takes the textbook and puts it between them, taking his pencil once more and drawing onto his notebook as she explains the meaning of the digits and definitions of the mathematical expressions used in the questions. She breaks the questions down into parts for him, guiding him through the steps and showing her thought process when solving them. After a while, she has him do one of the questions on his own and observe the way that his brows would narrow when concentrated as he wrote in his notebook. But Jungkook notices her stare eventually, glancing up from his textbook to lock eyes with her as he finally asks the question he had been too hesitant to ask.
"Are you feeling better?" His voice is gentle as he asks the question, catching her off guard. She briefly looks away and purses her lips.
"I'm just trying not to think about it."
"I won't let them do anything to you, Hyunji."
Jungkook gazes softly into her eyes, his pencil put down at that point as he attempts to show his sincerity, and with the way looks at her, Hyunji feels her insides twist.
"I know." she whispers, staring down at his hands as she finds it too intimidating to look him in the eye this time. His reassurance was good to hear, but in a way, it wasn't enough to calm her little inner storm. But she appreciated it, and hoped that he knew that as well.
After a moment of silence, Jungkook turns back to his work and Hyunji to watching him complete it. But in a way, she was tempted to say something and blurted out the first topic she could think of.
"Sumi knows about us." she says just as he was about to turn back to the textbook after writing something down. Instead, he looks back at her, surprised.
"You told her?"
"She kinda found out."
"How?"
This time Hyunji lets out a scoff, almost as if it wasn't obvious already.
"You left hickies on me last night, that's how." she glares, watching as his features twist into amusement as he bites back his smile.
"She saw them?"
"Yes!" she exclaimed this time, clearly annoyed with the whole situation. "First of all, why did you go that high, and second, why didn't you tell me you could see them this morning!?"
Jungkook leans back in his chairs and lets out a chuckle, very amused with the way she angrily looked at him.
She was like a small angry hedgehog.
And it was cute.
"What? You don't like them?" he grins.
"Jungkook!"
"Hey, in my defence it was way too dark to tell. And second of all, your hair was down all day, so how would I see them?"
"Well she did. And God knows how many other people have too." she argues, "And for God's sake, your Dad is our teacher. What if he saw them too?!"
"Good thing he didn't see you today then,"
"But what about next time?"
"Next time?" Jungkook's brows raise as his lips spread into a wide grin before Hyunji shoves his shoulder, scoffing.
"You're not even listening to me!"
"Yes I am!" he laughs, "And all I'm hearing is that my wife secretly loves them, even though she's acting like she doesn't." He places his hand on her thigh, his demeanour changing from playful to seductive as he bites his bottom lip teasingly, "And don't worry baby, there definitely will be a next time."
Hyunji grows flustered as she attempts to find something to say, her gut twisting as she attempts to ignore the way that his hand rested on her thigh teasingly.
"T-that's not what I'm saying-"
Jungkook hums and tilts his head, a teasing glint in his eyes.
"Let me see them."
Hyunji swallows, and although she doesn't know why and clearly doesn't think it through before she's slightly turning her head away from him and pushing her hair back to reveal the soft hues still imprinted on her neck. She hears him hum while observing the faint bruises he remembered seeing while in the janitor's closet earlier that day, Hyunji feeling little goosebumps rising as she feels him gently tilt her jaw with his thumb.
"What's this?" she hears him mutter in a lower tone before leaning in much closer, her heart momentarily racing at the thought of what it could be-
She feels the way that his lips claim her skin, sucking gently before his tongue eases the spot.
"What are you doing?"
Her voice comes out more like a whisper, her hairs rising at the pleasant feeling of his lips finding another patch of skin. But he ignores her question, letting it hang in the air because what other better way to tease her?
So she's left sitting there, heart falling out of rhyme as he continues his pleasuring torture, even worsening it by allowing his thumb that still rested on her thigh to brush along the inner side.
Surprisingly not minding the moment of intimacy, Hyunji lets her eyes flutter shut as her hand comes to brush against his nape and finds its way into his hair, telling him that she was enjoying it for the time being - submitting to his intentions. So he takes the opportunity.
Hyunji finds herself sighing when his lips finally find hers, his eagerness felt through the way that he lets his tongue dips right into her depths without wasting much time.
She doesn't even understand how things had escalated to this, why they were kissing, or why Jungkook was soon pulling her onto his lap, but there was just something reassuring about the warmth of his body right under her fingertips and airiness of the breath they shared. It made her brain go to mush and just focus on the softness of his hair and the way his lips eagerly claimed hers, as if there was a timer running.
As if he genuinely wanted her.
The first guy to genuinely want her.
Her t-shirt meets the floor.
And she feels him grin against her mouth, his large palms tracing up her bare torso to feel no bra. His thumbs brush over her perked nipples, gently biting her bottom lip as he could only think of where he could let this lead to. He teasingly lets his thumb draw circles on her inner thigh, drawing dangerously close to a place they both were anticipating for him to touch. But he wanted to take his time, to test her patience and wanting to see how she would react with the slow pace he took, and with the way that her hands had already lost themselves under his shirt, she knew she was growing impatient.
Hyunji moans into him as his thumb finally brushes over her clothed bud after what felt like forever, her arousal only demanding more from him especially when she knew what he was capable of, or what more was left to be experimented.
She gasps softly, breaking away from him the moment she finds herself placed on the desk itself, Jungkook's figure looming over her with lusted eyes as she's left breathless. And just as he's about to pull his shirt over his head to continue where they had left off from, Hyunji stops him.
"Wait," she breathes, licking her lips to moisten them and Jungkook halts for a moment, gripping on the hem of his shirt.
He looks at her and notices the shift in mood. "What's wrong?"
It takes her a second to reply, hesitant on ruining the moment and mentioning her realisation.
"We were supposed to study."
"And?"
"And we shouldn't get carried away."
"That's it?" Jungkook asks, looking unsatisfied with her answer. "It'll take up max thirty minutes of our time-"
"We can't make it into a habit, Jungkook." Hyunji replies, her expression softening. "This is our first time attempting to study together, and I'm already half naked."
"I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing,"
"I'm not saying it is. But we still have a big test tomorrow, and we both need to study for it."
Jungkook's eyes searched into hers, knowing he had lost already. If she wasn't willing to keep going, then he was in no place to force her to, although it left him feeling disappointed.
He lets his hands fall to his sides, saying nothing while taking a step back, Hyunji taking this as the sign for her to get off the desk and find her shirt again before brushing through her hair with her fingers.
Jungkook feels the slight awkwardness settle into the pit of his stomach, especially while she avoided his eyes and he continued to stand there as she eventually found her seat.
He clears his throat, shifting.
"I'm heading to the washroom." He mutters after a moment of unbearable silence, to which she briefly nods and hears the click of the bathroom door moments after. And when Jungkook takes longer than expected, that's when Hyunji begins feeling sorry for having left him hanging.
Maybe that's what she wasn't supposed to do, and maybe she should have left them to continue although the upcoming test lingered at the back of her mind. And as much as she would have loved for Jungkook to have gone down on her while she sat on her desk, like any other sexual fantasies of hers, something in the pit of her stomach warned her that this would be happening more often than planned.
Five minutes tick by and Hyunji hears nothing from the bathroom. After waiting out another minute, she finally builds the courage to walk up to the shut door and knock.
"Jungkook?"
"Yes?" she hears him reply from inside.
"Are you alright?"
A second ticks by.
"Yup."
A part of her remains unsatisfied as she nibbles on her bottom lip, expecting the worst.
"Are you upset with me?"
It takes him longer to answer this time, rather, she hears the footsteps near the door before it creaks open and reveals a confused Jungkook.
"Why would I be upset with you?" he asks, looking down at her with an arm resting on the doorframe and the other still holding the door handle. She catches the concern written along his features before she shifts her gaze away and grows nervous.
"I don't know," she answers, "I just thought that maybe ruining the moment upset you, and I know I just left you hanging, which must be difficult with a boner. So... if you need help-"
Jungkook cuts her off.
"You're not required to please me if you don't want to, Hyunji."
This time she looks up at him, her almond eyes filled with what he deciphered as guilt as her lips formed a small frown.
"I just don't want you to think it's because I don't want you. You're always trying to make me feel good first, so it made me feel guilty that I...denied you?"
Jungkook gazes down at her and purses his lips, letting the door fall entirely open so that they could talk more comfortably.
"I please you because it's something I want to do-that I like to do. It's not because I want the same back, alright?" he begins, his features softening as he speaks. "Is it annoying to be all fired up, and then not get to release? I can't lie to you, it is. But I can't even count how many of these boners I go through day and night. It isn't something that I can really control, and definitely something you shouldn't be guilty about, alright?"
Hyunji looks up at him innocently, and slowly nods her head, slightly feeling better.
"Okay."
"I'll join you in a bit, I still need to get rid of this thing." he sighs, referring to the tent that still made itself known in his sweatpants.
"You don't have to hide in the washroom." she replies, not wanting him to feel like he had to hide it, although he didn't seem to put in the effort much either.
"I don't think it'll get better around you right now."
And this time Hyunji watches him reveal a slight grin as she's left staring up at him, thrown off by the honest comment.
"Oh,"
"I said what I said," he shrugs, "Now if you excuse me, I believe we both have some studying to do."
-----------
