i was selected to participate in an inter-school graphic design competition and the theme given to us was:
"Festivals In Autumn"

we were given only an hour to search for resources and make a graphic- JUST ONE HOUR. i was feeling so tensed that i may not be able to complete the graphic but thankfully i did. 😂😭

THE WHY?

✦ I knew with such a topic, all the participants would probably go for Durga Puja or Mahalaya or Diwali. So I just straightaway took a shot for Halloween and it turned out better than I expected XD

THE WHAT?

✦ The Story: In a village, there lives a 14-year-old girl named Clara who lost her mother a few months ago. When Halloween is just around the corner, she familiarises herself with the old lore of the "Lake Of Spirits" where the souls in the afterlife, still connected to their families, gather on Hallow's Eve. But it's not easy to reach this Lake as an unidentified magic shields it to prevent the living from interacting with the dead. However, Clara is determined to cross the forests of Morris and reach the lake even if no one has ever done it before. This is the story of Clara Sterling as she tries to achieve the impossible. Will she reunite with her mother?

✦ The mother is shown as if she's fading away, to symbolise her death and the umbrella she holds is the shade of motherly love Clara is searching for. Also, I chose a warm theme of Orange & Red hues as they are associated with Autumn.

THE HOW?

✦ The girl and her mother were hand-drawn (more like finger-drawn) by me in IbisPaintX, using a reference picture from Unsplash.

✦ The moon is from cleanpng.

✦ The grass was drawn by me using the grass brushes in Ibis. (really grateful that Ibis has these features 😭)

✦ As for the story, I just came up with it in my head while making the graphic lol. 😂😭

this was my first ever win in an inter-school competition and i was super proud of myself for this win- 🤧

this is the only reason why i made a special chapter for such an old edit 'cause it has such a special place in my heart! 😭💙
