Yes, I'm back with making designs for contests because there was a break for me during ENSNARE so, whilst the participants were busy concocting potions, I was busy making my own for another purpose 😉✨

✦ Roses are often associated with beauty, sophistication and love. But onlookers often warn others about the thorns that can prick your skin. This poster depicts the feminine manifestation of a Rose, a woman who's been known for her beauty, alongside her thorns.

✦ Her eyes are red and as bright as the Rose, but appear glossy as if holding back tears from the torment of words and the constant plucking of her petals, one by one until nothing's left to call her own.

✦ She loves to wear luminescent pearls to intensify the air of sophistication she carries and compliment her beauty, hoping, just hoping they'd forget about her sharp prickles.

✦ On moving closer, it seems her perfect porcelain face has cracks, left by the people who wronged her.

✦ Now, a woman scorned, she's letting the darkness take over her, the storms in her mind now formulating outside her physical form as thorns and vines start to creep up her arms to spread over her body and shield her from the devils that thrive on Earth.

WHO'S AFRAID OF LITTLE OLD ME?

✦ This concept was inspired by the TTPD song, "Clara Bow" which is about how the women in our society, famous for their beauty have been plucked like roses over the years and placed on a pedestal created by people who don't believe them to be human, and hurl words and stones at them once they notice any flaws.

✦ The theme is dark and intimidating for the scorned woman has had enough and is preparing to avenge herself. ( following the theme of the song "Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me?" )

✦ The scene has a blue tint (often associated with calmness) but there's a storm brewing- 'the calm before the storm'. The only colour apparent in this scene is 'Red' which is the most common colour for a Rose but also symbolic of love and compassion, both of which, the woman was deprived of- which has now driven her to anger & madness.

✦ The shiny silver metallic text is to convey the theme of Fantasy in this story. But also showing what the woman is preparing herself to be, like silver which is tried 7 times in fire.

✦ Total time taken: 10 hours (excluding resource hunting time)

✦ I made 7 copies of this one poster in my ibis so I can preserve certain layers if I needed to go back to them after merging but my ibis still crashed- T~T
Thankfully, we have the restore option now but Wattpad makes the quality look worse than my morning face before shower.

✦ This idea was derived from a cover idea I had for this portfolio but it was too difficult to incorporate for this prompt in the given time. So I took a portion of it and built the design on it and it turned out well :)

✦ The poster would've been more intimidating in the Vertical format but I learnt later that the poster is to be Horizontal (I misread 4:3 as 3:4 😭) so I decided to fill the empty space with the text.
At first, it felt like I was selling a typeface for a new font lmao, but I guess it works (?) 😭✋🏻

Improve the quality of images uploaded in a book / give a different genre for ' graphic design '...

Wattpad: removes dms.

This was such a stupid decision ngl like- why have it in the first place then? When other apps keep adding new features we have Wattpad taking away basic ones 🤡

Also, I wasn't able to upload my entry from Laptop? Whattped? What?? 😭

Welp, getting back to the main point, this design was originally in b&w with only the Red popping out but I added the blue tint 'cause it looked a lot better— no, not because it's my favourite colour lmao— no— wai—
